NFL Wolverines cut: Moosman, Ortmann, Dutch
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/transactions/
Cards cut Moosman and Ravens (after getting him in a trade) cut Dutch yesterday. Couple days ago the Falcons cut Ortmann who had been picked up a month ago after getting cut by the Panthers.
No word (as far as I know) about Minor, C. Brown, Mathews.

Matt Gutierrez and Justin Fargas, from their brief stays with the Bears and Broncos, respectively.

Brandon Minor reportedly contacted VT at one point to transfer while at UM - when remains unclear but interesting all the same.

If I had to guess, I would say it was in early 2008 when McGuffie (true freshman) was given the starting job over Minor/Brown (juniors who had "waited their turn" behind Mike Hart).

Minor and Brown were injured in the 2008 preseason camp -- McGuffie and Shaw were pretty much all there was behind them. It's unlikely that could have been the reason. My guess would be earlier, around the time Rodriguez arrived, exploring his options. Not a big deal.
If the NFL figures out how to keep his wrists and ankles healthy, he has a future with the Bears -- we've all seen what he can do.

Hope he makes it with the Bears, he always was one of my more favorite players on the team.

Johnny Sears made the Bengals roster, who have a very good secondary. He joins Leon Hall and Morgan Trent. Was very surprised.

Special teams. Has to be. Perhaps he's done a good job of covering kicks and punts, which I could actually see him being decent at.

Johnny Sears has not made the Bengals roster yet. This was the first cut, the final cut is like Septemeber 4th and NFL teams have to cut down from 75 to 53. Cincy is stacked in the secondary, so it's highly unlikely Sears makes the roster, although the practice is a possible destination.

Both cleared the 75 man roster, but highly doubtful that either makes the 53. Minor's got 4 RBs ahead of him; he'll have to beat out Kahlil Bell and Garrett Wolfe.
Matthews has a better shot than Minor. He actually got some PT and receptions on Saturday. There are 7 other WRs so they'll probably have to cut 3. Freddie Barnes is another undrafted free agent and hasn't gotten any PT, so, maybe in addition to him the Bear's cut Rashied Davis and Juaquin Iglesius?

I live near Chicago and watched all the games, and in the first preseason games Mathews had a few bad drops and Iglesias and Davis both made strong pushes to stay on the roster. Mathews will probably be cut, but I hear he had a great camp and he had a few nice catches in the last game so they'll probably keep both him and Minor on the practice squad.

Keep working hard guys!! Injuries will happen and Ortmann and Moose should get a call.

per a source Ortmann reported to Falcons camp at 280 lbs. He may have to up the weight to get a call from other NFL teams.

Yeah, that's pretty light for an OT.

have not had good luck in the NFL. Outside of Jake Long, none of our recent lineman have been able to stick: Ortmann, Moosman, Kraus, Bihl, Riley, etc.
