this may be of some local interest
Baltimore failed to get the pick in on time so Kansas City was able to get their pick in first right when Baltimore's clock expired.
26. Kansas City (Baltimore's position): Jonathan Baldwin (WR) Pittsburgh
27. Baltimore (Kansas City's position, From Atlanta through Cleveland): Jimmy Smith (CB) Colorado
On the Clock: New England
If the Ravens hadn't been so successful, I'd say missing their first round pick is a fire-able offense.
Trade the pick. Sigh. Tommy didn't want to win another Super Bowl. He just wanted a lot of picks when he retires.
ESPN saying Baltimore thought it had a deal with Chicago. I guess it works out for the Ravens anyway as they got the guy everyone thought they would. It would have been a complete disaster if KC put in for Smith, however.
Wonder why Robert Quinn fell so far and JJ Watt rose so much? And how the hell can teams be given an immediate draft grade? We should be grading the draft from 2008 or 2009 right now, not a pick made 13 seconds ago. If your pick is the best guy, but gets hurt in a moped accident, that was unfortunately not a good pick.
were scared off about Robert Quinn's brain tumor that happened in HS. Some NFL teams took him off the board for that reason.
28. New Orleans (From New England): Mark Ingram (RB) Alabama
On the Clock: Chicago
Note: New England receives New Orlean's 2nd round pick and their 2012 1st round pick.
That's 4 Alabama players in the first round. And that's insane.
That year miami had 6 first round picks was absurd. Sucks that they got that they got the shaft in the MNC on that PI call and that maurice Clarett was ever eligible to step onto a college campus
Not to defend the Buckeyes, but I'd bet a dollar that Miami had some ineligible players on the field that season, as well.
29. Chicago: Gabe Carimi (OT) Wisconsin
On the Clock: NY Jets
Over/under on how many New England actually MAKE and take a player with?
30. NY Jets: Muhammad Wilkerson (DE) Temple
On the Clock: Pittsburgh
31. Pittsburgh: Cameron Heyward (DE) Ohio State
On the Clock: Green Bay
Nice work on this, BTW.
I concur. Thanks for doing the updates here.
Thank you, and it was my pleasure to do something to give back to the MGoCommunity for all the information and entertainment it has provided me.
Looks like they're looking for a guy to take over for Aaron Smith.
Love this pick, hate the school. We have enough Michigan guys to keep him in check.
NFL Draft record 12 defensive linemen in the 1st round. Could be 13 depending on what the Packers do.
32. Green Bay: Derek Sherrod (OT) Mississippi State
On the Clock: New England
Note: The 2nd and 3rd rounds will be picked tomorrow starting at 6 PM on ESPN and NFL Network.
My guess is that New England will trade their first pick tomorrow to the highest bidder who will use it to select De'Quan Bowers
Were unfortunately familiar.
Lions draft going Fairley well so far..
Theyre showing Michigans defense a lot more than I would like tonight.
Akeem Ayers is still around at #12(44). Unlikely, but man that would work out well.
Addressing needs with two starters through the draft would be great, and if those positions were locked down for 5-7 years that would be perfect.
Ayers would be nice. So would Dowling from UVA.
The more I've thought about it, I'm ecstatic about the Fairley pick. NFL CBs are so limited by the rules that unless you have an elite CB (probably only 4 in the league) drafting a CB that high is not worth it.
Rushing the passer and stopping the run is key, and the Lions addressed both with one pick.
Maybe. I think Prince will be a good pro. That said, the idea of Fairley (with a chip on his shoulder) and Suh ripping through the interior line is pretty enticing.
All that said, Detroit is NOT the place for guys with potential character issues. I'm a little worried about that with Fairley. Apparently his entourage for the draft was 40 deep.
you have 2-3 shutdown corners and another 3-5 very good ones that rarely need safety help, even on top WRs, and then everybody else (not a big jump from ~#6 to ~#50).
How do I cope with yet another TSIO player being picked? I don't think I can do it anymore...
I want the Lions to land Bruce Carter. That fills the need at OLB and is a 1st round talent if healthy.
Lions draft Fairley to go with Suh, Vanden Bosch, Willams, and Avril....and the Bears and Packers run out and draft O-linemen. COINCIDENCE?????
....well, probably, but still. Hopefully Fairley doesn't turn out to be the head case he sounds like.
