Good luck signing him Lions fans. After his salary at Auburn you could be looking at a hold out.
You could say the same for the Panthers. I don't think the Panthers can afford Cam Newton at 50 mil guarenteed. Hold out there!
Rookies are going to get paid...? Dang...
i figure he is going to get a salariy close to the #12 pick last year, ryan matthews, 26.65 mil with 16 mil gt
Ndamkung Suh and Nick Fairly...QB feast!
Well... good luck running against the Lions, but I still think Prince was the better choice.
I think Prince was a no brainer he doesn't look happy might take a lot to sign him
Suh will push him. Look at those highlights

Dont forget about KVB hes a horse who never stops running.
there were a lot of lowlights and time spent on the sidelines sucking wind. Not to mention he was probably the dirtiest player in college football. Interesting that we want outstanding young men representing our university, but will cheer for scumbags on our pro teams.
Don't like Fairley's character but he could be a solid pick. I love the focus on defense
Fearsome D-Line...that could be a great pick for the Lions.

Kid was an asshole in the Bowl game...but this is the Pros, not Miss Manners.
They better get his attitude in line! If he is focused I think he can be awesome. Detroit will have the best Dline in the league next year
hopefully his attitude doesn't affect the locker room i mean he didn't look excited at all about got to det.
Since Schwartz could get Albert Hanesworth to play, I think he's or a food handle on how to deal with bad attitude guys.
Or "got a good handle"
Money got haynesworth to play
...that wasn't enough. Haynesworth could be amazing but he is a bum, out of shape d-bag!
To the Redskins.
I'm probably the only one who was hoping for almost anyone except Prince Amukamura. I just haven't been impressed with his actual game performance. That being said, I don't really get Nick Fairley with Williams and Hill on the roster.
i think this d-line will help the CBs a little bit, give opposing QBs less time to throw, but they do need to do something about drafting a CB but i think an OL is more of a need, they cant afford to ruin staffords career because of injuries from sacks

D-line rotation is now set for a long time if Fairley pans out. I look at this as a Warren Sapp/ Randy Moss lite situation where a guy projected to go high slips down and the team that takes him ends up very happy. I really liked that pick.

youre not the only one i feel the same way i think prince was good because of suh but hill and williams wernt great we had the 24th worst rush defense, you cant pass on fairley with that pick
Didn't see that coming... but that is one hell of a DL
I like the Nick Fairley pickup for the Lions...I like it a lot.
Never thought that Fairley could be there.
Lions pick.... Cue the commercial....never fails
Why is the Lions as an organization seem to focus so much on one position group? I like the pick but I am assuming you may have had some needs in other areas. If he pans out you will have a pretty bad ass D-line though.
Depends on the position group. In the NFL you win with great lineplay, a QB, and an elite corner. You don't win with WRs.
I agree completely. In my opinion it would have been a good idea to draft an O-lineman to keep your franchise QB healthy. That being said he was one of the best available on the board.
To clarify: lineplay on both sides of the ball. I was hoping for an offensive lineman or Prince because the defensive line is already really strong, but there's something to be said for just being the best at one particular thing. This would make pass rush from the front four that thing. And should stop the run fairly well. Basically if he can stay on the field, you'll have Fairley, Williams, and Vandenbosch single blocked. That's, um, acceptable.
After the rare franchise QB. Good O-Linemen can be had in 2nd and 3rd rounds.
I am not a Lions fan but I like this a lot more than an over focus on the WR group...it's hard to get killed by the pass when the opposing quarterback is running around and/or staring up at the sky.

Why are you coming down on my contemplative nature?
No need for the Michigan fan on fan violence.

hmm?
From a football standpoint: Woo!
From a God, I think that dude is a gigantic dick and hate him standpoint: bummer.
Fairley did not seem happy to be picked by the Lions. That makes me sad. Show some f'ing enthusiasm, you just got picked by an NFL team that WANTS you. Grumble.
other teams passed on him
I hope you are right.
Like Brady did.
....was contemplative that signing bonus less than received from Auburn and Chizik.
Probably because he'll always be second fiddle to Suh. Come the think of it, why the shit are they drafting a DT???
his name called or Mark Ingram
So let's go with him.
Even better. Man, I want to see Miami's O-Line vs. The Lions D-Line in a few years.
After hearing that Fairley and Suh are on the Lions, Jay Cutler retired.
I agree that he didn't look too happy walking up to the stage and shaking Goodell's hand. I honestly don't understand how he could not be happy getting to play alongside Suh, Vandenbosch, Williams, and Avril. I trust Schwartz and Mayhew on this one.
He is upset because he thought he was a top-ten pick
Did you see that watch on Ingram?
