i find this extremely interesting
NFC Playoff Open Thread
I put up a tough front, but deep down I just want to be held.
One Michigan Man in today's game: Todd Collins. Quite possible the most fortunate graduate of the University of Michigan. It's a testament to his hard work, dedication, and ability.

It guarantees a Wolverine will be getting a Super Bowl Ring this year.
"I love him, he's a great coach, he's a great mentor, he's a great friend. He's every single thing you want a college coach to be, and he does it flawlessly." -David Molk
What's interesting is that neither of these teams belongs in the playoffs to begin with.

The 11-5 Bears don't deserve to be in the playoffs?
Please explain.

I had no idea the Bears finished 11-5. I thought they started out pretty bad, even considering the game that got gifted to them against Detroit.
Cutler was one of my fantasy QB's in 2009, and he couldn't possibly have sucked any worse. I guess he turned it around pretty good this year. (Of course, b/c I didn't have him on my FFB team!)

Comin down head first and not moving.
Hello, 911? yeah it's Quagmire. yeah, I got it caught in the window this time.
I would expect a 6'5" 250lb TE to lower the boom on a DB rather than trying to hurdle him.

Pete Carroll loves him some 4th and short punts from midfield
A tear of joy just rolled down this guy's eye and he has no idea why.

All the man did was average over nine wins per season, keep the bowl streak going, went 19-10 against top-ten opponents, keep the program clean, won a NC, recruited and coached a Heisman winner, five Big Ten titles in 13 years, kept Michigan ranked in the top 25 for ALL BUT NINE GAMES in 13 years, beat UF in one of the greatest bowl games I can recall, and had a positive influence on thousands of impressionable young men. His bowl record was 6-7 against some pretty fucking awesome teams.
In short, FUCK all you Lloyd bashers. You don't know shit about what's important in life, and your memories are shorter than your dicks. Lloyd was a winner, whether you choose to acknowledge it or not.
Lloyd Carr deserves our respect and admiration, not all the ignorant BS that gets flung all over this board. Really, why so little love for Lloyd and so much for Bo? They were both men of integrity and winners. It makes me want to barf.

there is a playoff game, and we all get to say "Da Bears". Lloyd was underappreciated, just like most artists are in their time. I think he OK with his time here and doesn't care about our opinions. It just would would of been nice if we could have seen the Capital one bowl's offensive scheme incorporated as far back as 1995 when he took over. They were multiple and loved the formation and personnel groups.
The bears are killing it today. Keep it up Cutler and the OF and D fronts!!!

Lloyd was a winner*
*except when playing tSIO or high-profile non-1998 bowl games.
Abort, Retry, Fail?
19 - 8 vs. top ten teams. Not too shabby.

Does anyone else thinks it disgusting the bears are hosting a playoff game? I mean if the "process of the catch" was ruled in favor of the lions in week 1 the bears wouldn't even be in the playoffs.........ends bitter lions fan rant.
Blank.....Blank......You're not looking at the big picture here.
It's sort of fitting that they're playing against a team that shouldn't be in the playoffs ever.
Plus a Black and Blue Division NFC Championship game would own.
I find it more disgusting that the Seahawks hosted a playoff game, and would host another if they win.
Michigan Resurgent? Michigan Resurgent!
The beatings will continue until the uniforms improve!
This. I think that any team which fails to win at least 8 regular season playoff games should not be allowed to host a playoff game. Let them in, but when the opposing team has more wins than you, you don't get rewarded for winning the worst division in modern football history.
and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
I'd go further. Top two division winners get byes; bottom two get into the playoffs, but are seeded by record along with the wild cards.

like when the Padres made the playoffs a few years bacl only winning 79ish games. That is the way it works, but the NFL seems to be throwing ideas out there about new formats. I just don't think they will ever plenalize a team for winning their division, losing record or not.

Cutler's got some moves!

I'd even root for the bears to watch his team diaf
Bears / Pack here we come.... Does this mean the Lions are even better than we think???
Maybe we need to throw some money at Dave Toub, the special teams coach for the Bears. Even if its just to come in and advise for a few weeks. Its been one of the most consistent and best part of the team for the past few years. Although Hester may be a big reason for that...
Seahawks getting spanked. Pete Carroll is a bad, bad person.

Damn Tillman, so close. I love this Defense. Can UofM get some of that aggressive style.

Damn that is two head injuires for Seatle. Not their day.

That 85 Bears team was ridiculous. This teams isn't as sexy or explosive, but they play great team football. Next week is going to be tough though GB look lights out yesterday.

I think the Seahawks are gonna run out of luck. I mean, being able to make the playoffs with a losing record because you play in the worst division ever (as of now) is enough. Then pulling the upset on the defending champs. The Bears will get it done.
Charles Woodson, down the sideline, he's gonna go all the way, TOUCHDOWN MICHIGAN!!!!!
