Next Years Schedule

I know we still have our bowl game, but was looking at next years schedule for the potential night game.  Brandon did say he wanted one a year.

To me the only reasonable option is October 20!  What a great atmosphere to end the spartie streak at 4.

Any other options?

It's gonna be the Illinois game.

I was hoping this thread was about the lack of away games. I realize we play neutral vs Alabama next year but I really think playing 7-8 home games a season is a bad idea. For recruiting and future bcs rankings we should play better teams and not at home all the time. I realize the revenue of 114000 fans is tough to pass up but winning national high profile games will pay off further more IMO.

The rest of our schedule was not full of world-beaters, so it wouldn't have affected the polls too much if at all.  For this team, they needed those home games based on how we played on the road this year.

And I'd hate to see some of these teams improve their non-conference schedule.  Minnesota lost to FCS teams for goodness sake.  What benefits the conference more would be to take care of business in the bowl games.

if had help OSU to 7 or 14, we would be in the BCS already. Beating OSU was nice, but the game was far too close against a struggling 6-6 OSU (granted with all the Tats crew back for our game - but the national media overlooks that). Bottom line: to be a clear BCS bowl contender, we needed to take care of business against Iowa, and more convincingly over Ohio State.

If we played a night game against Sparty there wouldn't be a single MSU fan at the game because they'd all be passed out.

One year, the MSU SigEps came to our house to party before the game. They got there at 7 am, called us all pussies for not being drunk yet, and by 1130 they were passed out in different parts of our house/lawn. That was a noon game. If the game were at night I don't know what would happen. Wo knows, maybe they'd be up by then and could go.

It appears that Saragin has a biased toward the B12 teams (and BCS schools).  We can beat most, if not all, of them.  We lose in the OOC strength by playing MAC teams.

LSU gets huge love for scheduling weak-@ssed PAC-10 teams.  We should take the opportunity to play a home and home with 'Zona.  It will be fun and we will gain some street cred.

Brian has done a wonderful job in his quest to play BCS teams in the OOC schedule.  I just think that Alabama is a little too much for us right now.  But what the hell........

Imagine how UM will prepare during Fall Camp in 2011 when they know Alabama is the first game on the schedule compared to Western Michigan this year. The reason they're on the verge of a title is that they won those games. The system is such that big five conference teams (no Big East) need to win out to make a title game. Resume is a tiebreaker.

LSU does the same thing OSU does. They play one bigger name a year out of conference. Michigan and MSU play Notre Dame every year. It's essentially the same thing except ND isn't ever really good anymore. Personally, I'd like to play ND somewhere around 2 of every 6 years and play some intersectional home and home games in the other seasons.

However, I'd boycott the SEC until they quit oversigning and I'd do it publicly.

It's all John Navarre's fault.

No place on earth I'd rather be on a football Saturday than Michigan Stadium !

I'll try to get tickets for this game. Only a 7 hour drive to Dallas for me. It will be interesting to see how the team improves up through the bowl practices, next spring and summer camp. I'm excited to see how our team will measure up to the AL defense. We got a shot at pulling out the victory!

The key will be opening-game jitters/rust. Whoever makes the fewest mistakes will take it, I'm just not sure we'll be far enough along to take down Alabama. I'm also not sure how many players they lose next year, if they lose some on defense and don't have a home run hitter at an offensive skill position, it could be possible

Will probably take a year off and have ND in 13 and PSU in 14.  Would be nice if we could get the Nebraska game moved up earlier in the later years.

I agree with DB here.  You shouldn't have a night game just for the sake of having a night game.    Sparty would make the most sense.  After reading the Detroit News article I don't think he's ruled that out, however, they will have to look at it from every angle and in different ways than they did with ND because it's an instate rivalry that's turned nasty as of late.  I would love to see UTL II vs. sparty but I am not going to get my hopes up.
