That's kind of curious to me. I'd imagine the first person they would tell is the kid they're offering. Did he mention who "tweeted" it?
He was taking a test when his high school coaches were informed. She saw it on Twitter sometime shortly afterwards and informed him.
Steve also clarified that we are the leader at the moment. Great name, great size, and good speed. Wouldn't mind having Eldridge in this class.
How many more WR's are we likely to take?
Seems like at leats one more, though if there are extra spots they could be used for a third, granted he is one of the best available prospects left. I think we end up taking two, including Treadwell (I know he is playing it close to the vest, but I do thinkw e land him).

I love this news. It seems that the coaches would like to add a third reciever and Massington would be a great player to add. It still leaves room for Treadwell, but does not leave the cupboard bare if Quon does not Go Blue.
Making assumptions here, but let's count Conley, Gedeon, and if what was said in a previous thread is true then Deveon Smith as recruits... That brings us to 17, how do you see the rest of the class being filled out? I know Brian gave his take on Monday, but are we in a position where we would take best players available regardless of position? Let's say Levenberry, Pocic, and Isaac all still want to commit. Can you say no to any of them? That's 20 guys and we may only have 22 spots....
This kid's video is pretty nice. It looks like he's playing against decent competition and still putting up good numbers. Has speed to separate from DBs, looks to have good hands (although these highlight videos by definition don't show drops) and can really go up to get the ball. He won quite a few jump ball battles even when the DB was in good position. His size is obviously a plus, looks like a college receiver already in that regard.
If you had to choose 2 WRs out of those with M offers, which do you take?
My strategy would be two fold.
- I'd take the first 4 star to commit. Hoke isn't playing games with guys, and is shooting straight. If we have to wait until the Army or Under Armor All Star games, so be it. But if a solid guy wants to commit now, that's great.
- I'd hold one spot for a five star or high four star. I'd be willing to give this to Robert Foster, James Quick, Sebastian LaRue, or Laquon Treadwell. If none of them pull the trigger to Michigan, I'd offer the scholarship to the best available in an area of need (i.e., Pocic, or a 4th LB, or a DT or DE.)
This would be a very reasonable approach for Hoke. This is more of a hypothetical though - if you were able to pick the two best individuals (based on personal preferences/evaluations rather than stars alone), who would they be in your opinion?

Seems similar to LB recruiting- take an early commit (McCray)- hold a spot for best guy (Levenberry) and see if another spot is possible with how the other positions go and if the "best available" guy might be a LB.
Seems like the staff has a three step plan:
1- EARLY RECRUITING: Make a pool of top talent- 4-5 stars mostly- and if someone is willing to commit early they have a leg up or a spot.
2- TOP 4-5 STARS: Hold spots for players who are studs (Levenberry) that will have a spot kept- and can be filled with either another position players who has interest or "best available"
3- POSITION LIKES: Some positions seem to have particular needs for recruits. WR's may not be top 4-5 star guys but more the best guys that fir the tall, quick, strong WR for the system like Dukes- so some positions may not get super recruits in the same way.
I'd be happy with any of the wideouts you said- especially Treadwell- wonder if any of them will be treated like Levenberry and have a spot secured or if its first to pull the trigger?

This guy can catch a ball over the top of a double team, Megatron style. Would love to see this style of WR at Michigan.
Sounds like a great fit for the system. I love the mountain goats that RR brought in, but having some NFL-prototypes catching balls will definitely be nice.
He looks like he's been well coached. High-points the ball beautifully, uses his size to create separation, and has long-speed. Not jarringly quick or shifty so he won't draw the top 100 type rave reviews, but he'd make a good option for our QBs.
In an interview at Rivals, he said he's never seen or heard of Shane Morris...
...which means we MGoBloggers haven't done a good enough job of publicizing Shane Morris.
Somebody needs to tweet some Morris highlights at Mr. Massington.
He has things that are tough to coach: speed and great jump-ball ability. He's not the slasher that RR loved, but it looks like he's got good hands and can win a battle for the ball.

Treadwell, and we have been recruiting him for a while. We were also one of his first offers. Having said that, i think we as fans fall in love with recruits, and start to think that is our only option to get that breakaway kind of player. I just watched Massington's video. I really like him! Its nice to have options.
