New Tweet from Joe Pequeno re: Harbaugh

Submitted by Auerbach on

This is similar to his tweet from 7:00 PM yesterday. If nothing else, this confirms that the status quo hasn't changed (for better or worse) as of 3:01 PM today.

For what it's worth, John U. Bacon tweeted yesterday that Pequeno's reporting on this story has been pretty spot on as far as he can tell and that Pequeno has had things before most other reporters (things that JUB says have checked out).

Edit: Pequeno clarified in the comments that he was "just informed about verbal agreement." So that's the bit of information that's new and different from his tweets from yesterday.

Source says verbal agreement in place for Jim Harbaugh to become new Michigan coach. No contracts signed, but UM feels real confident.

Oh man, this is such exciting new information.

This verbal agreement has been in place since before Hoke was fired.

Well, for one, he tweeted the second one at 3:01 PM today, just 15 minutues ago. There's value in knowing that the latest is still the latest, i.e., that nothing has changed for the worse. It's also possible that a contract could have been signed since his tweet yesterday, especially with Hackett in CA right now. This tweet confirms that that hasn't happened yet, again, as of 3:01 PM today.

Usually the way "reporting" goes, you will put that modifier in.

Like: "An update...still no contract signed. UM still confident. No news here is good news."

Or just not say anything at all when you have nothing new.

The fact that he chose neither leads me to believe he's just after some spotlight and retweets.

That's a valid point. People are asking him to clarify. I will update the OP if he does.

Edit: Pequeno confirmed in the comments that he was "just informed about verbal agreement." So that's the bit of info that's different from the tweet from yesterday that you posted above. I've update the OP with this info.

I think everyone knows there is an agreement in place. my concern is the continued highlighting of no signed contract (another known fact) and that UM feels confident (not UM is confident)
