New student ticket prices for 2015
Announced on Twitter that next season's student tickets will be $175.

He broke the silence of twitter. This is alot better prices, I should estimate around 11,000 season ticket holders, compared to this years 9,000! Go Blue! Beat State!

I'm guessing it's still in the top 20 percentile.
My daughter is a freshman at Alabama and they pay $10 per game. Freshmen have to choose between 2 partial season packages while upperclassmen can buy the whole season.
They also have a real good program for students with tickets who can't make the game. There's a virtual waitlist of students looking for tickets. If the student seeking tickets is selected, they receive a text message and claim their ticket at the gate. Tickets can be exchanged right up to kick-off.

When I was a freshman at Bama ('00), we got each home game for $5 per game, regardless of which class. It was a pretty sweet deal, $10 still is too.

I think at EMU they pay YOU if you even know where the stadium is and what color the turf is.

Haha, I don't think that's too far off. At least when I was still in school at Western, for all MAC schools, you just had to show your student ID to get in. I think it's a reward for sucessfully crossing the road to get to the entrance without drunkely getting hit by a car (or stepping in the literal horse shit from the riding cops) after making your way through the the house/lawn tailgates that lead up to the stadium.

I remember you mentionned you went to pitt awhile back. How much were tickets at Pitt back in the day? Can't imagine they have changed much.
Were you there before they tore down the stadium? My dad took me to the last PSU-Pitt game way back when. Never realized what a big deal that was until I was in college.

It's also taken his bs promotions and giveaways to stay about the 100k mark every game this year, which I still think (unless they beat STAEE) that the streak will end (in reality) even though they'll manufacture a number above 100K. All of this is just an effort to stem negativity in the last minute to try and save his job. It's not like he's doing it for the right reasons.

I applied for the winter semester for 2015 and if I get accepted I will surely be buying a set of season tickets for 175 dollars. This will be such a bargain since our home schedule has the two big games for next year.

This is no small hit to boot. Roughtly 20K students x 100 = $2M. That's 2 coordinators pay.

Except weren't student tickets purchased down to about 12 or 13K this year? 12K @ $295 vs. 20K at $175 is practically a wash.

That's not accounting for lost revenue due to students getting a cut rate though. 8k tickets sold at $50 less is $2.8m over the course of a season.
Selling 20k student tickets at $175 "cost" the AD a good chunk of change.

I know some were sold for Two Cokes.
Either way, standing by while students are building traditions of watching the games on TV with friends over beers versus attending in person would be disasterous in 10-20 years when they'll be needed to replace some gray hairs.

I never said it wouldn't, I said that current revenue wouldn't break even by selling more student tickets at a discounted price.
Taking that 8k ticket block, 2700 tickets at face value and 8k student tickets bring in the same revenue. It doesn't seem plausable that it's a wash on the AD budget.

Well, that's also assuming they actually get the student attendance back up to 20K. I hope that'll happen, but I imagine it will fall somewhere in the middle.
