New scoreboards not in NCAA12

Submitted by I Wrote a 4 Wo… on

At 1:23 in this new NCAA 12 promo video you can see Michigan Stadium. As noted before, the lights will be in the game but it looks like the new scoreboards will not unless they get added late.

I understand this could probably go in a previous thread but since it's back a few pages now I'm just posting it here, sorry if you're really annoyed by this...I'll give you back your 5 seconds of life that this wasted when I get a chance to stop by the ATM.

But, they could probably fix that extremely easy with an update if they actually don't change it before the release date. Which is July, 12. Plenty of time. I just hope the gameplay is upgraded a lot even though I really liked NCAA Football '11, they can always get better. I think they should just stop coming out with it for a few years until they have the best they can make with the limits of the 360 and PS3's hardware.

I agree with that. I like having the stadium look real and all, but I'd much rather have them fix the gameplay issues (pass defense, certain plays working 95% of the time) than putting UGA in the game or having the lighting be perfect. Gameplay before unnecessary upgrades.

I agree that gameplay is more important than certain visual upgrades (especially scoreboards/other things that really don't matter) but that being said, it probably would take 5 minutes to change or update a scoreboard in the game since they have so many made already for other stadiums. As long as the visual upgrades aren't all they're spending their time on, I'm happy with the game -- I couldn't make anything better.

I wasn't giving them shit for not putting the new scoreboards in, and I don't "care" in that I'm upset or anything. The authenticity just makes the game that much more fun. If the lights weren't added I wouldn't be upset either, it's just that the more realistic it looks the more fun it is to play. It took just a moment to post this, and some people are interested in updates from the game especially when they deal with Michigan/Michigan Stadium.

I wasn't saying that you were doing this, but generally when stuff like this is posted or if you check a EA forum a lot of people go over the top.   I like the game, it's all I play and I like all the little touches, but it's way down the list compared to the gameplay and such.

If you check the suggestion lists for the next years games that people put down people  may understand why EA spends so much time on the "sizzle" as people like to say and not the steak.  These posts are littered with stuff that seems so insignificant compared to the game itself.  People want to see more cheerleaders on the side, they are upset about tattoos or having Senior Bowl practices.  It's wild what people get super passionate about in the game that doesn't even matter.

Yeah I agree with you.

I think the gameplay has gotten better though. It's still not perfect, obviously, but just think about how like 2 years ago it was nearly impossible to throw on the run or break any tackles. I think the game could be a lot better I'm just glad there is a game and that it's as realistic as it is with the gameplay. Games like March Madness 10 make me appreciate the NCAA even more, as the gameplay seems even worse than NBA Live on Sega.

I paused the video at 1:23 to check out the stadium for a second.  That's quite a good crowd, and all dressed in the same shades of maize and blue as the team.  Visually quite impressive, but hard to get that uniformly awesome, with a few exceptions--student section Block M was very well executed a couple of times.

Not having the new scoreboards makes a huge difference.  There's areas of the stadium that are almost night-like where the illumination of the scoreboards should be lighting up the crowd, but that's missing with the old scoreboards.

It's truly amazing how much difference lighting makes on the mood of a situation.  Heck, when you watch a movie, almost all of the time with outdoor shots, the directors put up a fabric canopy on stakes to cut down on ambient glare from the sun, just to name one example.

Normally I wouldn't be nitpicky like this, but there is one big problem with the way the stadium will be in the game if they don't change the scoreboards before its released:

Having the lights and not the new scoreboards would mean the game contains a stadium configuration that was used for zero football games and one hockey game.

people would stop putting paragraphs of rationale as to why they are posting their content in their initial posts.  Let it be, just let it be.
