New Road Jerseys?

Submitted by Blu on

Anyone else notice during the BTN pregame that Michigan is sporting different road jerseys? The maize piping is now goes across the back of the jersey, and is now less visible. Another tribute to former Bigten champions?

I was going to wait to post this question til it was confirmed they were different...but now that I know they are, does anyone know when M-Den will get them in?  I was hoping they'd be there for tomorrow because of the alumni association's 20% off discount but I didn't seem them on the site today.

Biggest thing seems to be the piping has moved to arch around and over the names on the back of the jersey, plus the block M.  Haven't gotten a clear view of the front of the jersey.

Junior's Desmond patch is blue.  Looks completely out of place on the white jersey.

Piping continues under the shoulder to follow the contour of the shoulder to the collar on the front of the jersey.

This is simply because Michigan switched to the Adidas Tech-Fit jersey template. The old template had fabric slots on the side of the jersey which allowed for the maize piping. The new template does not have the piping slots.

- I've been reading this site since the old Haloscan days back in 2006. Five years later, I'm making my first post.

Why are the arm sleeves so big?  Who wants to see some dude's armpit?  Can it fit the sleeve a little tighter?

Haven't we known this since the spring?  Aren't these the same that some of the players were wearing back then?

Regardless, the loss of the torso horns is the best thing to happen to U-M uniforms since the addition of maize outlines on the numbers.

Some players were wearing the Old style uniforms (mentioned above) with the yellow flares on the back sides...Now i thought that was illegal? Because i know that the team has to wear socks a certain way...up or down...everyone has to be the same.

Now to me you are the University of Michigan and not to have everyone wearing the same jerseys is kinda embarrasing/pathetic on the university and on adidas.  I mean come on you cant have everyone wear the same jersey? this isnt D2

No such rule.  Some players have socks, some don't.....this isn't the NFL, everyone doesn't have to look quite alike.

A few years ago Sean Glennon at Virginia Tech actually wore a Georgia Tech jersey during the VT/GT game in Atlanta, with black tape over the "Georgia Tech" wordmark and his name written in Sharpie.  Seems someone left a jersey behind in Blacksburg.  College is way lenient about it.

Contrasting Colors

ARTICLE 3. a. Players of opposing teams shall wear jerseys of contrasting

colors. Players on the same team shall wear jerseys of the same color and

design.

I would say they were not of the same design...I will so its a little picky, but to have players wearing 2 different designed uniforms is not acceptable at the University of Michigan and for adidas.

Denard also switched to the old jersey I noticed in the 4th quarter. They are the new adidas TechFit jerseys. I like them. They also have a cooler font for the names, and a blue block M above the names like on the home jerseys.

My guess as to why some were wearing the old jerseys is that - as others have said - the new techfit jerseys make it easier for a player to be pulled down by the jersey, giving the other team a competitive advantage...  hence some pleayers wearing the old jerseys, eliminating that advantage.

And Adidas once again has egg on their face.

Anyone that at this point still maintains they're better than Nike is seriously deluded.  The only thing they've done that hasn't sucked were the UTL unis, which ended up looking really good.  (Also helps that we won that game in epic fashion.)
