New RBUAS: She Might Be In Tangier

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on
“Injury prone” is a convenient explanation for coincidence, but for some it is merely fate. You don’t get mad at a bomb for blowing up. It’s a bomb, that’s what it was designed to do.
That is how you describe Brandon Minor.

I, for one, have been a little frustrated over Minor's "injury prone" rep. If Minor ran with a little less RAGE, he may have stayed healthier. But who would want Minor without the RAGE? These happen to be the consequences of his style and I don't think I'd trade it for a different version. Minor RAGE will be unleashed Saturday.

I don't see how Minor can make an impact Saturday. It's not like it's Barry Sanders with a shoulder injury--someone who can avoid hits and still be effective. RAGE doesn't have the use of his primary weapon. Once he unleashes a shot with the bad shoulder, he will be done for the most part. What's next? I am scared to find out.

And you can bet they will be targeting that shoulder every chance they get...I'm guessing he gets on the field but may not last long. Minor is one of the toughest players to put on a Michigan uniform in recent years. Hopefully he gets to do at least something in this game.

Chad Henne took a cortisone shot to play in the 2007 Illinois game. He was only throwing the ball, but still... Also, Minor has another shoulder that he can use as a battering ram. I just don't see him sitting out the final game due to a "bruised" shoulder. This might be the last game of his football career. (On a semi-related note, I had a dream two nights ago that Minor dislocates his shoulder in the OSU game. Hopefully there's no real-life re-enactment.)

Saying he has another shoulder to lead with is like saying you have another hand to write with if your normal one gets smashed in a car door. It's technically true, but you're not going to be effective with it. Minor was in so much pain in the Purdue game he was in tears on the sidelines. Not because he knew he was hurt and wouldn't be able to play much, but because it hurt that badly. If he plays, he plays. If not, then he's really f'ing hurt.

My favorite part:
These are what family values are: wagons circled, debris, taped ankles and a fuck you if you're not with us; look me in the eye and know that eventually this will all pass. They'll remember this day when they're old and sit on dusty sofas dozing in and out of consciousness. You lost a lot but not your dignity. And you realize that it wasn't just about winning but about patience and faith that it will get better. We wait for that moment.

... it's the whole frickin team that needs to play with distorted hulkian RAGE on Saturday to make the '69 upset look like it was rehearsed. If the team is to finally step up and play with passion, this Saturday is that day to do it. But will they? Let's all hope so.
