New Pup Name

Submitted by GoBlueBBQ on

I recently found a pup hiding under my jeep at the local dog park. He's a mix of about 4-5 different breeds, but is mainly terrier and daschund. Someone abandoned this little guy and I couldnt just leave him there. I need to pick a great name for him and need some help.  As of now, he is known as "SMOKEY". This may stick or may not. I want to go with a Michigan or BBQ themed name.  He will be my sidekick for next seasons BBQ recipe posts, so I need a great name. THX!!!!

Whenever we've started calling a dog something while trying to think of a name, that became the name.

What should we call Smokey? We're already calling him Smokey.

Good on you for giving a dog a good home.

I plan on naming my first dog Jim (in the 0.000001% harbaugh doesn't work here I can claim it's Jim as in Mandich). Current family dog's name is Woodley, which is a good name.

She named her dog Deogie. At least that's how I assumed you would spell it phonetically. But really it was D O G. So stupid, but yet it grows on you. I like it.

My wife and I have a Boston Terrier named Cedric. He also answers to Bonehead, Knucklehead, Bonebrain and Dingus. On gamedays while I'm at the Big House, he is home with his UM collar on and we move his food and water dishes from their usual place so he feels like he is tailgating.

Nice of you to adopt you new found friend.

You don't want to answer any questions about why name him after that.

I named my dogs Chester when I was a kid, of course before the whole "Molester" rhyme.  So either I'm a trailblazer or terrible at picking names.

I have a short, smaller and tough dog and wanted to name him after a slot receiver. His name is Gallon and it was done to that and Odom. Norfleet was also considered.

I got a dog in 2011 and was debating whether to name him Carlton (after Carlton Brundidge) or Trey (after Trey Burke).  This was before either one had played a game for UM.   My wife did not like the name Carlton, so we went with Trey.  He has been a great dog for the last 4 years and thankfully we did not go with Carlton.

After our wonderful jump ball winner during one of the most fun and memorable Wolverine seasons in recent history. One of the heroes of the UTL comeback, broke the OSU streak, Sugar Bowl MVP after OT win over VaTech. Classic underDOG/overachiever (NFL WR). Can call him Hem or Hemi for short... And for your uppity, well read friends you can tell them it's a nod to the famous author.

My wife and I just got a golden retriever puppy ( in early March) and we named him Maize. That name may be more fitting for a golden retriever or yellow lab than a dachsund though.

I name my dogs after Red WIngs.  Yzerman was my golden retriever.  My Irish setter is Shanny (Shanahan).  Just a thought.
