Well also remember that typically the first 2 or 3 days of practice will be better on the offense than it will the defense. The offense knows the play calls and the snap count. The defense is reacting to the offense and this takes a few days to really get going.

Those who stay will be champions!

-JB Fitzgerald DUSTED Fitzgerald Toussaint. Toussaint was unimpressive in both the clips we saw of him. Reports are mixed.

-There were 2 clips of Denard Robinson throwing the ball. The first one he clearly is dissatisfied and goes "dang!". That's not a great sign. I've heard lots of balls have been sailing on Devin and Denard both.

-Cam Gordon gets several looks in these clips at safety. Apparently there was a fight between Dews and Gibson about where Gordon went, and Gibby won because of the lack of depth at safety. There's a reason they're both excited about this kid.

-Jeremy Jackson (17) doesn't attack the defender when he's blocking. Dews tells him so.

-Austin White is a quick kid, but very skinny. Could use a redshirt, but the guys at GBMW think he'll see some time this fall with his pass catching abilities.

-Shaw is our best RB from these clips. I believe he is currently our best healthy running back and will get the start come the fall.

-Leach makes a few good plays in these clips. He'll get some looks come the fall as well. The staff is very high on him, though he's clearly limited by his athleticism.

Seeing this video was just what I needed today... I wasn't even thinking that Shaw and Cox would be 1 and 2 on the RB two deep. I am still hoping that Fitz and Smith are 1 and 2 (assuming the surgery went ok). It's nice to have so many options at tailback. I am an old school Michigan football guy, and I'd rather see this team only pass when they have to. All of us know the value of smashing a team with the run for four quarters. If the offensive line can be really nasty this year, the sky's the limit for this team. Go BLUE!!!

Was coming off his hernia surgery last year and got very, very few reps. In the game time he saw, he was tentative hitting the hole and tiptoed around.

Two years ago, you could tell Mike Shaw was the future. He is one speedy dude. In Smith's absence, I guarantee Shaw starts over Cox. If we're lucky, he'll pick up where he left off two years ago, rather than last year's injured Shaw.

He may have said "Shaw and Cox". I heard the same thing.

I'm pretty sure that's what he said aswell seeing as they had most of the shots runningback wise.

Leach looks pretty weak to me. It was good to see him taking down cox in a drill but the kid doesn't look fluid or athletic enough to be a real contributor. Just goes to show how bad things must have been last year where we ended up putting him in over obi.

He may be small but he did have a nice take-down. Though it was more as the guy was running over him, so you may have a valid point there. At least he held on unlike a few players in the past that I can think of.

They seemed to highlight Michael Shaw moreso than any other player. He looked quick in the Michigan drills and then they showed a good breakaway run at the end of the video. Can we speculate he's looking better in camp thus far? Or just right time, right place with a camera.

And a second note on the Michigan drills, but the D-linemen were getting owned. Is it me or shouldn't they be breaking away from their O-line counter part to get to the running back as he's coming around?

The Michigan drill is not conducive to getting spectacular plays out of your defensive linemen. They go head up against the offensive lineman, which rarely happens in games. Usually, the only time you have a guy going head up against an offensive lineman is if the defensive lineman is a nose tackle in a 3-front alignment.

Meanwhile, the running back just picks a side and goes.

So unless the OL is a complete waste of space, you shouldn't expect to get many plays from the defensive linemen in that drill.

its blocked at work. But one thing I did notice was Campbell getting owned in the M-Drill. While I don't expect much from D-line in these drills, they should be able to hold their own in these drills. The o-lineman he was up against basically stood him up....and if you look at Wills feet they aren't even moving. He should have at LEAST been able to push the linemen back a yard or so....

It was only the first day in Pads, and the first real M Drill of Spring....the video did show the intensity of the O-against the D....there was almost a 50 pound difference between the O-lineman and the d-lineman....these drills are not only meant to develope and improve skills be to push the D and O lines against each other for bragging rights....each day will be more intense......
