At the exhibition game on Friday, Joe Stapleton (of the Daily/UMHoops) and I discussed them at length when there wasn't a whole lot of action happening on the court. I think we agreed that we don't like them - and the names on the back are waaaaaay too small.
New Michigan Basketball Jerseys
Herb Brooks: When you pull on that jersey, you represent yourself and your teammates. And the name on the front is a hell of alot more important than the one on the back! Get that through your head!
according to Mike Eruzione:
Herb Brooks walks into the US lockerroom during the 2nd intermission of the gold medal game against Finlad and says "If you lose this game, you'll take it to your fucking graves." He then walks towards the door, turns around and reiterates, "Your fucking graves!" before walking out.
I'm a fan of beauty in simplicity and these are close. I would like the Michigan on the front to be a bit bigger, but the piping and neck accents look good.
I wonder what the alternate colorways look like.
The only thing that I don't like is the blue on the collar. More so the shape not the blue itself. The rest of the uni looks good though.
The blue on the collar is the best part, imo
Make the block M on the shorts HUGE like the fab 5 Days. Everyone in Jr. High had those things, classic!
those were awesome.
I still have my old shorts from the fab five days .....classics never die
With black socks. Should be a permanent part of our basketball uniforms.
heck yeah always wore my yellow shorts and my navy Maceo Baston jersey to like all my ejr high summer bball practices
The uni's look good but I still don't understand why they won't bring back the fab five style shorts with the big block M on the side. Those were awesome. Would probably sell a lot better than these
True. I have been disappointed in the quality of the Michigan bball jerseys for sale. I still rock my Nike ones b/c I think the quality and look is much better.
Because adidas sucks ass, that's why.
Adidas just copied the template Nike used. It was Nike who introduced the miniature M's on the shorts, in 2002.
I agree with most everyone so far. If they still wore and sold the fab five-era shorts, I'd buy a pair in a heartbeat.
I was only able to watch a small portion of the exhibition game, but I thought the jerseys looked pretty good. It's good that they kept them simple. I just want to see what the home and maize jerseys look like. The guys in the jerseys weren't looking too great, but I'm going to ignore it since this wasn't a real game.
Calling this an improvement - looks good - more "current"
The numbers are way too big, and 'MICHIGAN' is not nearly big enough. It looks like the number is being emphasized over the school name.
Not a fan. Miss our classic look. And the M on the shorts has been too small for, oh, about 10 years now.
Unless you're talking about the Bill Frieder-era jerseys, this basically is our classic look.
I agree about the M's on the shorts, though.
It's all about the piping.
they might have tried some crap like this:
ugly as heck in the uniform department.
We could have told them NO like PSU did.
Never buy anything Nike, unless you want a piece of your hard earned dollars supporting the Oregon Ducks.
I'm a big fan of the student section shirts. I feel like they finally got it right: simple, classy, sleek. Most student section shirts are too busy, contain some sort of slogan that takes away from the main point (i.e. Michigan, Wolverines, the sport for that particular shirt, etc), or are just ugly in general. I would actually want to wear these shirts outside of a game or the gym, for once.
Classic Style with modern well fitting V-neck
The new ones are an improvement from the stretched scoop neck look we've had the past few years. They have an awkwardly looking neck that seems to be too big.
I absolutely loved the 20th anniversary edition update of the 89 Championship uni. Lets bring those back.
So the NCAA now allows the brand name to be on the jersey top? Ugh.
BTW, what is that little blue logo on the players' left shoulder?
It's a tiny ncaa logo
Change for the sake of change.
I actually really like them, I don't think they needed to be changed, the older ones were nice, but I like these a lot.
Last years jerseys and the previous years I was not a fan of.....these new ones are sharp, but still keep to our tradition.
I believe that's Lloyd Brady just over Morgan's right shoulder in the bottom picture. Before you ask, I know because I was sitting close to him. He truly is everywhere.
