New Michigan 2012 adidas gear

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

MDen and other sites like FootballFanatics & FansEdge have just started unveil the new 2012 MIchigan gear. I don't really know what to say except I don't know what the helmet on the last shirt is supossed to be, but's not Michigan's.

(Yes that's for men)

Some good some bad... but that's the point, right, to appeal to different tastes.

What I can't get past is the the Adidas symbol is as big as the Block M on a lot of those tops.  That's the primary reason that I would not buy them.

This stuff is okay, some of it I would not wear but someone else will. My problem is that it looks exactly like every other year. There is nothing unique. Nike would always have a couple of unique shirts that were cool. Like The Victors t-shirts and other things. I would have to believe tha if we had Nike we would sell much more gear and easily make up any money that Adidas might pay over Nike.

for solid moral--not political--reasons). But every one of those designs is crap, as are all those Nike designs for OSU. Keeping design simple--and keeping the good thing that is M's traditional gear simple--should be the hallmark of the brand.

This stuff looks like it will be going cheap at Target a half year from now, so if you really like it you might want to wait.

There are only so many ways you can slap "MICHIGAN" on a maize and blue t-shirt, and that's the problem. Nike and Adidas need to crank out a new set of designs every year to keep people buying, and eventually you run out of ideas. Plus these days most of these designs need to be easily modifiable for every school. Not a situation conducive to good design.

The good news is you can still buy pretty simple designs if you want 'em.

A Scene Somewhere in Portland...

Adidas Designer A: So, dude, what do you think of my new designs for Michigan fans? I hear the school is full of some smart kids. They might go for this sophisticated design I came up with!

Adidas Designer B: Dude, look, everyone under 90 with a semi-functioning brain is leaving Michigan. The smart ones are all moving to Chicago. Just give the losers who are left some junk they can wear at Truck Pulls, and while they're cleaning out their hog pens, and forget about it.

Adidas Designer A: Yeah, wtf was I thinking. Haha. You're right. Thanks!

I like either hoody, but particularly the maize; and also think that the white polo is nice.

Bottom line is that Michigan's colors and logos are so cool that it is very hard not to find something if you want to buy it.  I think this is true regardless of the apparel designer.

Some of you people need to quit hating on Adidas. They have a lot of cool designs and other designs that aren't as good. But the bottom line is if you like it that's great, if you don't then don't buy it. They have to have different designs to satisfy different tastes. And if we do switch to Nike, I swear to god they better keep the bright maize color that Adidas introduced because back when we had Nike it looked all faded out and ugly.
