The '15 to '17 classes don't have any. With the sudden and unexpected '14 class transfers (Dawkins and Chatman) Michigan is in a pickle.  Robinson's the only pure wing left after Irvin departs . So, even if they bump some guards to the 3 and the Wilson@4 experiment pans out, they need bodies.

It would not be crazy for them to recruit 4 wing players with the scholarships available in '16 and '17. I'm actually surprised they don't have more offers out and suspect there are some we just haven't heard about yet.

I was about to say, "French? Stansbury?" but then I got further into the article and saw the part about him being the son of Terence Stansbury. He spent close to two decades playing ball in Europe, I think, but he dominated dunk contests in his short time in the NBA - the "Statue Of Liberty" dunk is his, right?

The Statue of Liberty dunk was a regular attempt on the nerf rim when I was 12. If Solly has his dad's hops, I'd take a chance on him.

problem with this. Beilein wants kids who want to unpack their bags (his words) in Ann Arbor and embrace the entire college experience. He wants kids who care about academics and are good teammates. If a kid finds a trip to Ann Arbor to be too burdensome or whose ego is dented by the process of getting an offer he's probably not a good fit.

The problem is that many recruits think that the college is not interested in them if they don't have an offer from them. I'm sure Beilein still reaches out to them and talks to them, but if they're getting offers from everywhere but Michigan, they're more likely to visit places that have offered them.

As a college coach, the effect of only offering on a visit is significantly overrated. You're a fool if you don't think the coaches aren't telling the kids they will be offered, they just have to visit to officially get it. There's communication there. It's just a tool to weed out the kids who are actually genuinely interested and who the ones who just want to be #blessed and be able to say they got another big offer. This whole thing is blown way out of proportion.

2 Wings is the bare minimum Michigan needs with it's 4 available '17 scholarship. 3 is the likely number and it could be 4 or 5 if you consider some shorter-term options for the '16 spots.
