NEW Gregg Henson article alleges ex-players signed petition to fire Brandon
Gregg Henson has published a new article on his website alleging that more than 450 former football players signed a petition and presented it to the Regents to have Dave Brandon removed.
Among other things, there's an alleged email exceprt from a "former football captain" that lists all the things the players can't stand about Brandon. If you like juicy info and potentional conspiracy theories, this piece is chock-full.
If any or all of this is true, look out, fireworks may actually start happening around the Big House.

Enough grist there to keep our mill going for weeks. My favorites among the accusations by former players:

I'm suprised you left out the "Al Borges issues" one. I'm not sure where they were going with that.

Reminds me of Adolph Hitler
This can't be a real greivance sent to Regents, correct? I mean, come on. If you believe that or sent that to the Regents, you are being counterproductive and simply are not a Michigan Man.

Is this all paraphrased stuff or what? I suppose that someone could have turned in something like this to the Regents, but it's difficult to believe that 450 former players would sign off on it without anyone raising concerns about framing and grammar. I haven't the slightest, things happen. But it looks weird to me. Perhaps the guy didn't have access to an actual copy of the letter? If he did I would assume he would have published the text.

Kind of a volatile personality, but is still well-connected from his time in Detroit. Was first to report the Hoke hire (way before anyone else).
September 26th, 2014 at 12:10 AM ^
He called the Hoke hire before RichRod was even fired yet didn't he?
September 26th, 2014 at 8:29 AM ^
can someone confirm this? If so I'll give the guy a lot more credit but right now he looks sketchy
September 26th, 2014 at 9:47 AM ^
If he "called the Hoke hire" before Hoke was hired, then he threw shit against the wall and it stuck.
September 26th, 2014 at 9:57 AM ^
Or Brandon had already decided who he wanted (as the article alleges).
September 26th, 2014 at 10:02 AM ^
Know Brandon's inner thoughts. I mean, maybe he knew Brandon liked Hoke, maybe he had heard that, but he didn't know Brandon's inner thoughts before he hired the man.

That's a little self-fulfilling, isn't it? He also could have had legitimate information about the Hoke hire. I don't know if this guy has any credibility with this stuff he's reporting now. But I know it doesn't make sense to question him because he got the Hoke hire right.

I have no idea if Henson was the first to report Hoke, but I remember Doug Karsch talking up Hoke as a candidate before anybody else (that I heard) mention him. I think Karsch was talking about Hoke as a dark horse candidate before RR was let go.

My favorite complaint:
"Al Borges issues."
I'd kind of like to see an unpacked list of those issues.

comparing him to Adolph (sic) Hitler is so over the top I can't believe anything about this "petition" would warrant signatures by 450 former players and/or be taken seriously by the regents. This is just junk click bait.
September 25th, 2014 at 11:38 PM ^
The email and the petition are not the same thing. Presumably the petition would not have included that line.

September 25th, 2014 at 11:19 PM ^
I have a hard time believing that email was actually sent to the regents. Especially when you get to #2 "Reminds me of Hitler."
September 25th, 2014 at 11:33 PM ^
the petition was something else, that list of grievances was just something a former captain sent personally to Gregg Henson.
At least I hope that's the case because a large portion of that list was petty spite, and I'd hate to think 450 former players are that hateful.

I do not believe one word of this. I mean come on, "Reminds me of Adolf Hitler"? Really?

I don't either but the Hitler reference did make me laugh.

The new AD will be named and will have to give Brady Hoke one more year (2015) to be fair to him and the Athletic Department.......oh

2+ Minnesota, NW and MD = 5. At Rutgers and home against Indiana are possible. That's 7 which sends you to a bowl game.
In the regular season 5 wins is my floor and 7 is my ceiling.

It's never a great sign when 'Reminds me of Hitler" barely cracks the top 20 on the list of complaints.

(who knows) sounds about right. Hitler comment is a "nice" touch.
September 25th, 2014 at 11:30 PM ^
Lol that last sentence was very deflating. If Harbaugh/Miles are interested, you hire them now. No way do you give Hoke another year if this season turns out like we all think it will. Of course, this article is probably horse shit, but if it's not, then whoever gets the AD job must act fast. Brady will have had 4 years and that is plenty. If Michigan loses saturday...well let's just things will get even more interesting.

I'll say it: if we lose to a team that won last week's game against a meh SJSU by completing ONE PASS then I will advocate for firing Hoke post haste.
That is completely unacceptable considering that team throws the ball even worse than we have to this point.
We lose this weekend and the department won't need to fudge the numbers for PSU Under The Lights.

I'm pretty sure the $2 million video billboard it still up and the city was basically told that it's staying up.
September 25th, 2014 at 11:28 PM ^
Sounds like BS. I don't doubt someone wrote this but I doubt 450 former players signed it.
