NEW Gregg Henson article alleges ex-players signed petition to fire Brandon

Submitted by FabFiver5 on

Gregg Henson has published a new article on his website alleging that more than 450 former football players signed a petition and presented it to the Regents to have Dave Brandon removed.

Among other things, there's an alleged email exceprt from a "former football captain" that lists all the things the players can't stand about Brandon. If you like juicy info and potentional conspiracy theories, this piece is chock-full.

If any or all of this is true, look out, fireworks may actually start happening around the Big House.

There was that one period between Don Canham's retirement and the Sailboat Bill/Les Miles fiasco when I scarcely cared/knew who the AD was (the Tom Goss "halo" was a relatively small blip of outrage). The job description was pretty simple: don't screw it up.

I would just like to go back to the "game manager" approach to AD. Is that too much to ask for/implausible in today's collegiate athletics arms race environment?

Was listening to Michigan Insider this morning and John U. Bacon stated that there was a petition signed by former players to get rid of Dave Brandon.

relates to Michigan football.  That includes the product on the field.  I can't believe how bad it has become.

I can't believe how dysfunctional thing have become.  I thought 2008-10 was bad enough, but this is seriously making me reconsider the way I spend fall saturdays.

Was Bruce Madej fired?  I see that he "retired" this summer. If Brandon fired him that is ridiculous.  He was Michigan's SID forever and a great one.

Michigan is/was fortunate enough to have on their side.  Nothing would shock me with Brandon anymore.

I think it was 2012 during one of the video board clips, where current and former players and coaches recited part of Bo's "The Team Speech".  When Brandon's mug showed up, it felt like Big Brother was watching.

I know he's a former player, but still....In his current position, he needs to stay out of the spotlight.

Dan Canham wasn't just a marketing genius - he kept a low profile and would actually walk around the stadium during game days and ask the fans for their opinon on the gameday experience, what they liked and disliked and what they'd like to see to enhance their saturday afternoons.

It's the subtle things like that which make a huge difference, IMO.  Instead, we've got Jerry Jones 2.0.

I'm starting to wonder if some of what this guy is doing is deliberate.

The rumblings were that he was forced out. If you followed it, he was transitioned from being SID and an Associate Athletic Director, IIRC, to what was essentially a much reduced role during the last couple years, then was asked to retire. I've heard from several corners that it wasn't a voluntary move. The big shocker is there are rumblings about Jon Falk being forced out as well.

When you look at the absurdly high level of turnover in the AD since DB took over, neither seems surprising. He clearly wants his own people in there.

What's his source? Why does nobody but Gregg Henson have anything like this? WHo the F is this guy?

As much as I WANT TO BELIEVE I will treat as bloviation until there's some sort of fact-like substances to corroborate.

It's nice to hear that both Harbaughs and Miles will come if they hire one of those ADs. Henson said none of the article was his opinion, so that must be true. Or not.

Oh lord, are we now giving credence to Gregg F'ing Henson around here?

450 former players did not sign a petition to get rid of David Brandon; I'm not sure there are 450 former players who know the name David Brandon.  Jesus people, relax a bit.
