You act as though the fact that the authors are both Michigan alums means that the article wasn't a total hatchet job. It was, and this is now at least the second time that the freep has tried to make a giant issue out of something that doesn't appear to be one.

I don't deny it was a hatchet job, though I dispute it is a non-issue... my point is (and has been for the past 24 hours) that this is about RichRod and not Michigan. There is no pro-MSU bias at the Freep, just an anti-RichRod bias that inflates Dantonio because he's more like Lloyd/Mo/Bo than Rich is.

My point is (and has been for the past 24 hours) that this is about RichRod and not Michigan. Given that RichRod is the head coach and the face of the University of Michigan football team, I don't understand how you can distinguish the two. Unless you think read the piece to suggest that RichRod was undertaking all this nefarious activity without the knowledge of anyone else in the athletic department. Of course, if that's your reading, then the article is stating that the University was not complicit, but just incompetent. That's certainly not any better.

You make a valid point, but I think it's imperative to point out that these same writers speak glowingly of Bo and Lloyd and Beilein and Martin. This is not an anti-Michigan agenda, the issue is with the current football team and thus Rodriguez. I have my feelings on this, I think the Free Press approached him for an exclusive during the WVU proceedings and he turned them down. They had enjoyed unfettered access t Michigan in the past, with Rosey, Sharp and Snyder being Daily alums and Mitch being bff's with Bo. And so they turned on him. It's not that different than Mike Boren.

That's a fair take. If you're right and they're upset merely because RichRod isn't as accessible to them, then they're simply petty and unprofessional. The problem is, the attacks on RichRod are going to imputed by someone who doesn't know better to be attacks on Michigan and its football program as a whole. The freep's sports section probably isn't pro-MSU, but it's reasonable to say that it sure appears to be anti-Michigan.

just because someone is an alum of a school, does not mean they cannot be a fan of another school. When I was at Michigan I knew a few kids that were OSU or MSU fans, but went to Michigan because they knew the academics were better for their chosen field of study. Now, I'm not saying that this particular writer fits that mold.

Snyder is well known for still attending every Michigan game he can, sitting amongst the normal people and cheering like a totally biased fanboy. Rosey wrote a book where the central thesis is basically "Woody is a crazy old man but everyone likes Bo". So I doubt they're MSU fans who went to Michigan, though I too knew plenty of such people on campus. Any allegations that these guys are State operatives is silly, this is much more petty and personal.

When we return to elite status and national dominance, I hope these clowns know they cant get back on the bandwagon. Theyve offically handed in their Michigan cards.
