"NEW" Football Season Ticket Holder!!!

I received my 2012 Football Season Ticket Application in the mail yesterday. I was on the Football Ticket Interest List with 12 Victors Club points. The letter says that I get 2 tickets and the seat locations will be assigned later in the summer. I'm just curious if anyone else received this letter, how many points do you have, and number of tickets offered? I am assuming the amount of Victors Club points required has increased significantly from a few years ago. If I had to guess I would say that 8-10 points was probably the minimum, due to David Brandon's love of the "a la carte" ticket packages over just allocating the season tickets to the Football Ticket Interest List as they become available.

and ...Yes... I believe that David Brandon places a value on renewable season tickets and until you have reached his price point in donations, their is no chance you will be offered tickets.

I got offered yesterday as well. However, I am not going to buy them as a recent physics education grad in search of employment (anyone know of a physics/math/biology teacher position in the Ann Arbor/Detroit area at a great district or private school?), we cannot afford to buy two tickets for an entire season at the moment. I am probably going to piece together a season from game to game this year. As per how many victors club points I have to receive an offer, I have 11. I have held hockey season tickets in the past.

There was a lengthy discussion a while back about the season ticket price increase:

http://mgoblog.com/diaries/football-ticket-prices-increase-again

In that discussion, I noted that I didn't get face value for anything but ND/UTL, at least not by using the University's partnership through StubHub.

However, when you factor in the "discount" that you get for buying season tickets (average ~$65/game this year), I just barely broke even.  They key is getting as much as you can for the MSU game.

Otherwise, like someone else said, football tickets make good gifts!

Call me unloyal or whatever you will, but we aught to have no trouble rolling through our home slate, and if there are any truly epic moments at Michigan stadium this year (save MSU) it will be a disappointment. Save yourself the cash and put it towards an MSU ticket, because that's the only game worth paying top dollar for.

If you are a student, there is no excuse to not buy tickets (and frankly, I think it's stupid if you don't). They are incredibly cheap (about $30-$40 bucks a game),and you can easily make money by selling them.

If you want to only go to the MSU game, you are probably going to end up paying about $150-$200. That's almost the cost of all 6 tickets combined. You are not  'saving yourself some cash' if you don't buy student tickets. It's a money making opportunity, if anything. Not to mention that you will have the time of your life every Saturday.

1. I found the most important reason to get in sooner rather than later is to get your seat assignment and start moving it (if you need to).  I had terrible seats my first year -- row 7 in the SE corner.  Had to stand the entire game and still couldn't see over many people in front of me (due to the shallower grade at lower rows).  My son would've had no fun at all, had I brought him to a game.  Obviously, seating preference is subjective, but I don't enjoy the lower rows (unless it's row 1).  I like to see plays develop from a higher perspective.

So once you know where you sit, you can consider a relocation request.  Maybe you have friends you'd like to sit near.  But you can't do that until you're "in."

2. This year, the total price is reduced due to the fact we only have 7 home games (and only one true "premium" game).  Last year, I believe I paid $980/pair; this year, only $780/pair (or something like that).  So even though the schedule blows, at least you're not paying as much for it this year.  It'll be much harder (and more expensive) next year when we have ND, Neb, and OSU at home.

If only Coach Mo hadn't gotten so drunk.

I went to Roeper for 5th and 6th grade until the 82 recession and dad lost his job. Skipped 7th grade and went straight to 8th at Waterford public schools. Not a fun year 8th grade. Anyways, hope you get that gig, Roeper was awesome. My first memories are taking Greek Mythology in 5th grade in one of the domes with 5 others and the teacher and some epic capture the flag games. 6th grade I moved to the Birmingham building and ate lunch at Peabodys(?) everyday on a fellow rich kids tab.

(Although this may not apply to you, since you received a ticket offer)

My calculation of my priority points did NOT match the University's initial calculation.  Not only did they not credit me with a degree (which I specified when I joined the waiting list), but they don't credit you for having past season tickets in football/hockey/basketball unless you've continued to pay for them to date.

In summary, be sure their calculation is correct when you get your first statement.

This is my 4th year coming up as a season ticket holder and Im only 26. I also did you not attend here, I went to Lawrence Tech, but that first year I donated the necessary amount for the seating zone I wanted. Well I got the current seats I have now at the time. I actually have an extra two tickets now because I requested two more for a friend and at this moment, have 15 points, for 4 seats. I got very lucky, but have donated alot to a school I did not attend, and it was worth every penny. Congrats on the tickets, and I recommend the seat cushions just so people know that those are your seats and to back the fuck off.

How so?  It's pretty equitable - tons of points for being an alum and even more for being a former letterman.  Yes, you can buy in, but look at the number of points people have who are getting tickets.  High single digits points is possible with only a couple hundred dollar donation as you get 5 points for being an alum (and if other alums are in your other seats, you get 5 points for each of them too).

I won't be getting season tickets this season. Not crazy about the rasing prices. Paying $85 for EMU game was crazy enough. And no you won't make your money back on most unless its the big names. Last seasons home games were so crazy good I could put with terrible EMU and WMU prices. Not so much this year.

if you were a season ticket holder last year you didn't pay $85 for EMU.  Season tickets were $480 per ticket, or $65 per game (plus PSD, of course).  If you'd paid the sum of the face values listed on each ticket, you'd have paid around $650.
