Go Navy!! http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/022117aaa.html ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach Jim Harbaugh announced Tuesday (Feb. 21) the hiring of Sean Magee as the director of player personnel for the University of Michigan program. Magee comes to Ann Arbor after working in the same capacity at the U.S. Naval Academy. "Sean brings a strong recruiting history and an experienced personnel background to the University of Michigan," said Harbaugh. "We are excited to have his military experience, leadership skills and organizational talents help make our program great. Throughout the interview process, I felt that Sean answered my questions about how to improve our program before I could even ask them. Michigan football looks forward to having Sean, Sarah and their children, Miles, Stella, Brooks and Colt, join our university family." "I am unbelievably excited to join the University of Michigan family," said Magee. "The opportunity to work with such a phenomenal staff, led by Coach Harbaugh, at one of the world's premier institutions, is certainly a responsibility that I do not take lightly. I look forward to doing everything I can to help Michigan football shape a national championship roster." He has served as the director of player personnel for the past five seasons at Navy. In his role, Magee led the planning process for recruiting prospective student-athletes, oversaw geographical assignments of assistant coaches, and coordinated the execution of on-campus visits. He was also the program's liaison to admissions, academics and compliance within the academy and worked externally with NFL organizations. Magee was a letterman as an offensive lineman at the Naval Academy. He was a member of an offense that led the nation in rushing during the 2003 season. In addition, Magee helped the Midshipmen regain the Commander in Chief's Trophy for the first time since 1981 and was a member of the program's first bowl game team since the 1996 season. Magee graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. He later earned a master's degree in business administration from the College of William & Mary's Mason School of Business. After graduation, Magee was commissioned as a surface warfare officer, reporting to USS Juneau in Sasebo, Japan, where he deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Following that tour of duty, Magee served as a manpower/personnel analyst on the Commander, Naval Surface Forces staff in Coronado, California. He transferred to the Navy's human resources community in 2007, assuming a role as enlisted programs officer for Navy Recruiting District Ohio. Magee was the department head for the nation's largest recruiting district, responsible for all enlisted and NROTC recruiting efforts in the states of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. He served as the Naval Academy's deputy chairman of officer accessions and career information from 2010 until 2012, responsible for managing the academy's service assignment program. Magee and his wife, Sarah, have a son, Miles, a daughter, Stella, and twin sons, Brooks and Colt.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but I saw that Michael Johnson has decided to head to Oregon.

"It has been a whirlwind of a week. On Monday morning, I began my journey to the University of Michigan. By Tuesday evening, with Jim Harbaugh's blessing, a new journey had begun to the University of Oregon. God's ways are mysterious indeed! At the University of Oregon, I will be the new Wide Receiver Coach. I owe it to all of you who have prayed, and supported me and my family, throughout my time at TKA."

Couldn't Harbaugh poach somebody from Army or Air Force? I hate to see Navy lose him but glad to see him in Ann Arbor. Great resume and promotion for him. Based on how Navy has been able to find hidden gems and develop them for their system, I am confident he will be very successful. Maybe in exchange for stealing him, Michigan can schedule Navy for a game in the Big House!

The "reports of your retirement from the blog are greatly exaggerated."

Interesting hire, and like Brown, seems to have no former connection to UM or Harbaugh.

JH seems to know what type of team he wants to build, what he needs to have, and Magee, like Brown, seems to fit in quite well with that.
