New Commit for recruiting class of 2029

Submitted by Benoit Balls on

Lucas Stephen Johnson is the newest commit to Michigans 2029 recruiting class. His father, who posesses no athetic talent whatsoever, is very hopeful that Luke will take after his elders, a number of whom are over 6'4" and 275 lbs

Most interesting, while my wifes OBGYN was finishing up the stitches she noticed my Michigan t-shirt (everyone notices here in Columbus) and she proceeded to tell me that although she was an OSU alum, she is now "100% rooting for Michigan".  The reason? She grew up in Kettering, OH and was the captain of the cheerleading squad at Fairmont East High School when Brady Hoke was the captain of the football team (I knew he was from Kettering, had never heard of Fairmont East, I looked it up, and she was right. I'm inclined to believe she wasn't b.s. ing). She also added that she has been friends with Laura Hoke since they were both 12 years old.

She could not say enough nice things about both Coach Hoke and Mrs. Coach Hoke. She said that Coach Hoke is exactly as we all see him to be, honest, hard working, and a phenomenal person with a wonderful family.

I know, I know..."Cool story, Bro", but please forgive me. This is the first baby for my wife and I and I was already excited, and being able to tie this day to Michigan Football and the tremendously tremendous Coach Hoke just made it that much better

Sunday afternoons, I would take my kids to the 9-hole executive golf course @ Bald Mountain in Lake Orion.  Mom got the house to herself for the entire afternoon, which she loved.  Dad took a cart and piled 'em into the seat with a bag of chips and some pops.  Riding around in that cart was like being at Disney World for them, and it's an exec course, nobody cared / nobody complained / no worries.  Pretty soon they wanted to hit shots like Dad was doing, and they were all introduced to golf.  Win - win - win.  They grow up fast, enjoy every day, you don't get any of them back.

Best wishes to Lucas, and to you and your wife. It's never too early for us to start stockpiling good talent! Time to find where they sell blue and gold onesies!  :-)

with our future class already pouring in we could offer a baby blue shirt scolly.   you will have to work hard young Wolverine.  For Cbus is a vortex of destruction in the future.  its where the new most green glorious rebuilt city of Detroits trash and excriment is sent.  so dont get caught up in chasing any gold diapers down there!  Go BLue!

Congratulations on your new baby and bravery in the face of potential enemy (especially a potential enemy taking care of your most prized possession).

As a way of introducing your wife's OBGYN to other people who root for the Blue, you could invite her to the UM Alumni Association Central Ohio Club's Taste of Ann Arbor in Columbus on July 26, 2011.

Congratulations to you and your wife.  Enjoy every minute, they go by so fast.  I also love "Mrs. Coach Hoke".  She should have that on her stationery.

Congrats man. Being a dad is wonderful, scary thing. The day after my son was born we watched the 07 bowl together. It was awesome. Also one of my sons first phrases was GO BLUE!

One thing my Grandfather told my Dad and my Dad then told me prior to his untimely passing was "make sure to enjoy those children while they're children, because once they get to the age that you think you'll enjoy them most, they won't want anything to do with you.".

My kids are only three, but I see how my neices and nephews are with my brothers and sisters and can say he is right. Many of them are now old enough for adult to better enjoy time with them, but they want nothing to do with Mom and Dad anymore...It's all about their friends.

Congratulations to you and your wife!  I look forward to cheering Lucas on from my seats in The Big House, which should be at a capacity of 201,201 at the home opener when he first dons The Winged Helmet.

God bless you all and I hope that the little fella is healthy and all of that.  It doesn't matter if he plays or not...another Michigan fan will be good enough for me.  It was a great story and I learned something too.  I live in Lima and Kettering is where I enjoy most of the Jazz concerts that I attend at the Fraze Pavillion.  I had no idea that he was from there!  So, thanks for the info, I probably missed that info in his bio or something.  Take care...
