New bowl projections: Michigan vs Arizona

Submitted by DISCUSS Man on

weekly thread.

ESPN: Michigan vs Arizona in the game that would make the universe explode. I don't think the space-time continuum could handle that game. That would easily be the biggest Holiday Bowl in the last 25 years.

Another ESPN projection has Michigan vs Texas A&M in the Citrus Bowl. 20 year anniversary of the last time they met in a bowl game.

SB Nation: Michigan vs Georgia in the Citrus Bowl

CBS: Michigan vs Missouri in the Outback Bowl. Missouri just beat UCONN in a 9-6 barnburner.

I would love nothing more than for UM to play Arizona.  It would probably be a little ugly, but I'd consider buying tickets just to see how many people would freak out in the stands every time Arizona did anything right.  And lord help their hearts if the Airzona defense was competent.

Love these forecasts after three games. I think they had auburn in the NC last week. Sorry to rain on the parade but, at this point, these predictions are simply absurd

It's hard to tell if your post is willful ignorance or intentionally deceiving -- Arizona beat Oregon last year before losing to them in the Pac championship game. Not only that, Arizona beat them in 2013 as well.

So, yes they did lose to Oregon when a trip to the playoffs were on the line, but also had beaten them two consecutive times.

Say what you will about RR, he is amazing at taking mediocre recruits that Nobody else sees talent in and turning them into great players

Except kickers. Idk why that dude still can't recruit a fn place kicker.

Did you watch any of their game this past week? They played a cupcake, just like us. They trotted out a 4th string true freshman QB that was as good if not better than any QB we have on the roster currently. They would kick the shit out of this year.

I honestly don't know who Section 1 would cheer for. Regardless, he'd be there burning Lloyd Carr in effigy outside in the parking lot before.

If we face RR, so be it.  He's moved on and so have we.  I was "all in" for RR when he was hired, but I'd never swap Harbaugh for him.

Missouri would be OK.  I'd like to teach them a lesson for stealing the Block M.

Georgia would probably be a bad matchup for us this year, but I'd like to play them eventually.

The Holiday Bowl ain't bad - #3 PAC12 vs. #4 B1G (after playoff selections). Holiday Bowl would be a decent year for Arizona, especially if Oregon doesn't make the playoff (in which case the PAC12 might have no playoff team).

Though I assume AZ wants to at least repeat as division winners, which would give them no worse than the Alamo Bowl.

But clearly some folks read them.

Polls shouldn't come out until after week 4 when non-conference is typically over.

Bowl Projections should start once we're beyond the midseason point.

Just my opinion, which of course should be the only opinion.

We already get regularly updated "way too early" ranking projections throughout the offseason. If polls were delayed by a few weeks, all that would change would be ESPN talking about how the margin of victory in some SEC domination of a FCS team is "Southern U putting the college football world on notice that they have a major claim to the top 5 when the first polls come out." An obsession with what comes next without offering real analysis is the root issue.

No way we would end up playing Zona. They r gonna win 10 games IMO so that should keep them out of the holiday bowl. Unless we play in the New Years 6 bowls there's no way we will matchup

sounds awesome to me!  I could stay at my friends house, then cruise down I-15 to Qualcomm with the sunroof open.   It would be 1984 deja vu, including Jim Harbaugh standing on the sidelines.

Michigan vs. Arizona

Man that game would worry me. You know Rodriguez wouldn't sleep the entire month of December as he tried writing up the game plan of his career to beat us. But I'm betting Harbaugh can out duel him and give him one more headache thanks to us.

Watching us play A&M would be fun as I think we could score some points in that game. Whether we could keep up, I have my doubts.

Georgia would be pretty great too, but I'm not entirely convinced they're not at least heading to an NY6 Bowl. Their defense looks pretty darn good, and Nick Chubb....man, that kid represents what I hope Michigan can one day get its running game up to. He's a beast in every sense of the word.

RR has said many times that the vast majority of Michigan fans were good to him, even if the chicken littles that every fanbase has and Lloyd's asshole friends weren't.

Of course he still wants to beat us. I'm saying the edge is surely off from where it was a few years ago.

Sorry but I can't get on board with that. I think RichRod would be salivating at the idea of getting revenge on Michigan. Hoke and Brandon may be gone, but the fanbase that treated him like a second class outsider who was never really wanted is still here, and the whole experience still has to bother him.

He'd say that game wouldn't personal, but I have a feeling that it'd be extremely personal for him. He'd pull out all the stops and empty his entire playbook to bear Michigan,
