New Blog
A bunch of my buddies and myself just started a sports blog, focused on Detroit's pro teams. As for the college level, there is going to be content on Michigan, MSU, and Ohio State. Check it out and let me know what you think. My articles are obviously closed with "T Kaminski."
AHG! TILED PHOTO BACKGROUND! KILL IT!
Seriously. Solid or faint, muted texture backgrounds. Really.
Yeah, I see where you're coming from. I don't control the design settings but I'll tell the guy who does.
It's just that the tiled photo background gives it a very myspace-esque feel.
...and fixed.
you can either add your own or they have many different ones to choose from.
Go with a custom graphic big enough to fit the whole background without repeating or do what the other comment suggested, simple color or graphic element
piece of shit to me. "No offense"
Tactful.
Very nice constructive criticism.
You stay classy.
Someone must have pissed in your Wheaties today.
Way to be an asshole.
I guess this would be a decent time to mention that I've started my own blog as well. Sorry to jack your thread a little bit.

It's just whatever I'm thinking about CFB/CBB, mainly about Michigan in particular.
Good stuff man
Thank you. Yours is pretty good as well, I really like the consistent update idea, I think it will really create a niche for you guys.
Interesting stuff so far. I think you're definitely off to a good start. Two suggestions.
1. A white background with black type is a lot easier on the eyes than the white on black you have going now. I don't know what it is, but that white on black kills my eyes and seriously makes me consider not reading. Magnus finally changed away from that over on Touch the Banner and the improvement is incredible.
2. Your name is a little long. I don't have any great alternatives, but mgoblog, umhoops, and mvictors are a lot easier to type than burgeoningwolverinestar and touchthebanner. I think you have a lot of potential, so an easier name might be a good idea. A quick search showed that www.umichsports.com is available.
I'll tell the other contributors about these points. Thanks for the help.
Phenomenal username by the way.
1.) It's hard for me to say this, as personally I really like the white on black, but if a change would bring more readers, I'd be all for it. I'll probably monkey around with it a little bit to see what works best after I get home from vacation.
2.) I'm sorry, but I really like my current name. I'll be dropping the .blogspot part from the address, so maybe that will help make it more concise?
I briefly glanced over both of your blogs. I was pretty impressed because they were new. If you keep up the interesting/informative/etc. articles I will read both.
...eye fail!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cosign.
Well thanks to anyone who is reading! Our goal is to have at least a few posts up per day so there should always be some fresh content.
I have no evidence to support it, but I think that if blogspot had points, you could use "believethehypenews points" to garner readers.
Kind of like when Cartman added "free hat" to the sign about saving films from their directors.
Free Hat! Free Hat! He totally didn't kill those babies.
It was self defense
Damn you TRSaunders !! Stealing my response...
Dang, that was a photo finish
Great episode, like almost all of them.
Will punch and pie be served?
One suggestion... add a fuction for reader subscriptions. I, personally, like to get my blogger updates via Google Reader.
I'll have it done by tomorrow in return for your subscription.
The background is in the process of being changed as we speak, by the way.
You got it!
Thanks for following through!
plus one ofther thing, add your blog address to your post on here. It will get mad traffic that way.I have had a lot of traffic on my blog from here even tho it doesnt have anything to do with sports.
Use lame MS Paint gimmicks to draw in readers.
You guys need some consistency in formatting. Your most recent post has indented paragraphs. The others don't. Make a group decision and stick with it.
The first two sentences of Leo's post titled "The End of an Era" made me stop reading it. Saying ridiculous homer things will not get you guys any readers outside the ridiculous homer demographic.
Swaginaw needs an editor. A grand total of 3 (out of 8) sentences in his Rodman post are error-free.
I guess I'll check back in a year or so and see if you guys have risen to the challenge of running a useful blog by then.
Harsh, but that's life in the over-saturated Michigan blogosphere.
Since this seems to be the thread to post it in...
I'm starting a blog as well although it has nothing to do with Michigan sports or even sports in general (though there may be some sports-related posts).
It's called "What You Should've Watched" and it's focused on television shows no longer on the air, movies in between theaters and DVD/On Demand release. Introductory post is tomorrow with first actual post mid-week as well as a snazzy new header and design thanks to my buddy who is a professional graphic designer.
Now it's turned unto this http://newmusicmonkey.com
Try to get an actual ".com" domain when you can. I don't know what it takes to do that on a blogspot site or whatever, but it instantly adds a sense of credibility when you drop the ".blogspot.com" thing.
Look forward to checking it out daily and reading up our Detroit teams.
Hope you can bring home that bacon AND cook it up in a pan!
Because every poster will have their own blog. And it'll just be a bunch of blogfight posts back and forth.
