New Adidas Visor for Michigan Helmet

Submitted by EastCoast Esq. on

(Post updated because it IS a visor, not the helmet itself)

Wyatt Shallman just posted a picture of his helmet with an Adidas visor.

Is it just me or does that Adidas logo look HUGE?

Spring ball starts today.... Very excited to get to work with the 33 and the new helmet #letsgo

Actually, the entire cage is larger and partially obscures a good chunk of the wings.  Of course, Nike makes terrible products as well (a point I feel obligated to make anytime sometimes posts about Adidas being the bad guy...they're all bad).

Yes, just another one of Hoke's stupid superstitions.  He didn't allow visors.  He didn't eat on game day (even if it was a night game), didn't wear a coat when it was cold, and didn't wear a headset.  None of it worked but he stuck to his guns.  Glad Harbaugh is bringing back common sense.  Visors seem to work for some of the best players in the NFL.

winter hat this year (the same one JH wears).  They make that goddamn Adidas logo impossible to remove without ruining the hat.

I always feel like an asshole wearing clothes with company logos on them.

I'm kind of brand loyal to Adidas running and soccer shoes.  They give me much better support and lateral stability than anything other than New Balance.

You know what really pisses me off about that too?  Car dealers!  Putting their stickers and shit all over a car -- sometimes poking holes in the sheet metal to affix.  It's nothing but free adverting at the consumer's expense.

The background of the visor tab should be clear or maize with a blue Adidas logo. That would look pretty good and not break up the wings on the helmet as much.

As someone mentioned above that is the new SpeedFlex helmet lots of RD changes to this model. It's reported to be much more comfortable and has quite a few new safety implementations. The straps man, it's all about the straps. No more helmets popping off unless your head is going with it.

The newer the helmets get the more they interfere in an awkward way with the wings on the helmet... like that foreplate on the top of the new SpeedFlex helmets...

Compare the helmets the team wears now with the wavering wings due to the uneven helmet surfaces to Brady or Woodson's helmets.

Obviously the more safety the better, but it's just unfortunate. Nike taking the maize with them doesn't help either.

partially covers the yellow (when the hell are they gonna get back to MAIZE instead of Adidas glow in the dark bright yellow totally wrong colors!?!?) that is sacreligious to me.

By the way while I'm on that rant, When UM broke out the new banner a couple of years back, I emailed the assistant AD about it not being maize any more and he replied to me saying they were were working with Adidas on the color as part of their branding initiative.

Sorry, didn't mean to get off topic but the improper color thing really, really pisses me off.

GO BLUE (and maize)
