I have, and there are LOTS of people who will buy this. Sadly.
if it were made in a basketball jersey style
Damn I want Nike
There is absolutely nothing to say that Nike's slogan (that had to be approved by UofM) would have been any better.
Agreed, but it certainly couldn't have been any worse. This is like a Big Johnson t-shirt.
Edit: Damn, didn't read the whole thread.
Why? So we can have camo "throwbacks" or maybe they could make an alternate uniform to look like wolverine fur (a la duck feathers)???
Both Adidas and Nike have the ability to produce very nice (and simple gear). Adidas has "Originals" and Nike released a "Vintage" line. Both companies are now churning out garbage for college athletics (consider Nike's terrible Duke jersey for another Ed Hardy-esque abomination). The t-shirt that the OP linked to is ugly, but it's no worse than many other t-shirts being sold everywhere (including the student shirt). As for me, I keep it simple. I wear a plain "MICHIGAN" t-shirt. No logo. No graphic.
Dude I would so buy a wolverine fur alternate jersey. That would be sick as hell.
Is Adidas the one picking that awful shade of blue?? Why is it so fluorescent? It looks more like a UCLA shirt....
That shade is actually pretty close to what we have on our jerseys. It's not quite the navy blue color people assume it is.
With their well known respect for traditional uniforms
I strongly prefer simple t-shirts with a nice logo, over t-shirts with a lot of text, especially when it isn't clever.
It's not worse than those yellow hats that were discussed on here a while back. A step in the right direction?
I saw that hat for sale at a gas station in Benton Harbor.
I wish you wouldn't offend NASCAR fans with that abomination.
My inner high school junior thinks it's pretty cool. In fact, do you want to see if one of our older siblings will buy us some beer and then sneak into an R-rated movie?
This shirt literally makes me want to puke
This reminds me of those stupid "Coed Naked" shirts people always used to wear back in the day.
Also "Big Johnson" shirts.
"It's better to have lobsters on your piano than crabs on your organ" - Big Johnson.
"Liquor up front, poker in the rear" - Big Johnson
The bigger the Johnson, the deeper the dive
I wonder if they could make a comeback
co-ed naked lacrosse its ruff its tough its in the buff
co-ed naked hockey its twice as nice on the ice
i'd like to see something that states or suggests that it is the first night game at the big house.
Too much text for the front of a shirt. It should be the back. The official logo should be small, on the left breast -- not on the sleeve.
If they got rid of "it's better under the lights" and moved up and enlarged the rest of the stuff on the front of the shirt, it wouldn't be bad at all.
Normally I'm a huge fan of adidas, but c'mon man.
The manatees must be pushing idea balls around again.
Also, who is approving this shit?
"Who is approving this shit?" The University of Michigan's resident marketing genius, David Brandon. He knows that a lot of people wearing those shirts will be old enough to vote for him next year.
If you want to ask DB why he approved this just call him and say you're from the media. It doesn't matter what media. Say you want to do a spread for the Penny Saver. He will talk to you. The man craves the spotlight like a realty tv star.
Way to make a mountain out of a molehill. If you don't like the shirt then don't buy it. Bunch of babies around here pissing and moaning about this jersey and shirt business for one fucking game. Lighten up a bit.
our resident corporate marketing guru DB. He's marketing Michigan football as if it can be sold the same way as a large pepperoni with cheese.
That the Under the Lights logo is on the sleeve, meaning that this game, as you might expect, is branded just like the Big Chill.
...Michigan Stadium Rededication Game logo. Anyone get upset about that?
I just don't get why you guys care so much about this.
"no shit!"
BFD in my mind. Sure, the T-shirt is hideous. You want me to call the cops about that guy with his gun to your head making you buy it?
It's a side effect of people getting all their ideas about Michigan from Brian, who has apparently spent so much time among people leaving anonymous comments on the internet that he actually believes stuff like this matters.
Mostly, I find it ironic that Mr. Brandon, so fiercely protective of the Block M as a brand, and yet is working with a marketing department in creating dozens of alternate logos for Michigan things.
It's slippery sloping. OK, the Stadium Dedication Game, that makes sense. OK, the Spring Game got a patch...wait, yes, OK, fine. OK, the first Game under the Lights, that makes sense. I just worry that at some point, every game is going to have a new patch because there is are marketing dollars to be made.
MICHIGAN VERSUS INDIANA 50th ANNIVERSARY OF AC's TD, GIANT FOAM NOVELTY HAT HERE! LIMITED TIME ONLY!
That's my primary problem. I don't want people to buy this and wear it to the game because it's not maize. I don't know if Notre Dame is officially a "maize out" this year, but maize absolutely shows up better at night than navy blue does. Why would they not at least make it a maize shirt?
I could not care less about the shirt, but our first night game in history MUST MUST MUST be a Maize-out.
Who's in charge here?
WHERE IS THE AIR SUPPORT!?
I don't mind the jersey, I might buy it if it were less than $50, but that t-shirt has no taste whatsoever.
I hate it that the antecedent for "it" is not specified. So we're all left wondering what exactly "it" is that's "better" when lights are on. I guess that's the draw of the shirt? It's a riddle?
It=football=sex=dirty sex.
I get jokes.
This design is not appealing to me. It is typical east coast frat boy style, like someone said above.
In other night game /jersey news:
I understand that it's the first night game at the Big House. But, I don't see why this is being made to be such a big deal. It's a night game, they've happened every week for decades.
What's the big deal? I'm not a huge fan of it. It's ok but it's obviously geared for the students and younger population like me!
While I don't like the shirt I think the violent reaction to it is a little overdone. I mean it's not like it has striped sleeves...
