The new ACC/B1G bowl game at Ford Field has a name: The Quick Lane Bowl
The new Detroit Lions sponsored bowl game at Ford field (which ended the "Pizza Bowl's" reign there), finally has a name. The game, which which match the B1G against the ACC on Dec. 26th, will be known as the Quick Lane Bowl. Quick friggin' Lane Bowl.

Why not bring back the Cherry Bowl, or heck, even just the Ford Bowl would be acceptable. I guess I shouldn't complain too match about having a bowl game in Detroit against 2 major conferences, but I somehow tricked myself into thinking it wasn't going to be called something absurd. Silly me...
Link? Link.

I look forward to the future ND/UM games.

How about the KFC Chicken Bowl?

Shots Fired Bowl has a nice ring (report?) to it, although I personally like Drive By Bowl better...

No fair, Hoke kills buckets like Fred Flintsone kills brontosaurus burgers.

I'm happy Notre Dame and Purdue will be able to keep the rivalry going. Maybe even start one with Indiana

Quick Lane, Fast Lane, Cherry Bowl... Either way, nobody's watching.
August 26th, 2014 at 12:48 PM ^
Whoa, what happened to your points? Did I miss something?
August 26th, 2014 at 12:52 PM ^
Bando, Lando, Hando.... Either way, nobody's upvoting.

On the positive side (trying to be positive), the sponsor happens to have a Motor City theme and logo, and, roughly, Detroit Tigers colors.

Sam Bernstein should become a sponsor. We could then have the Disability Express Bowl Game.
August 26th, 2014 at 12:42 PM ^
Sam would be great, but I'd do just about anything for a Fieger Bowl.

They should host the Kevorkian Bowl for two programs on the skids.

I think if they were to offer some kind of substantial rebate on tires for the first 10,000 ticket purchasers that may help generate some interest. Tires can be expensive.
August 26th, 2014 at 1:29 PM ^
Might actually get some cross promotuons - free or discounted tickets with purchase of an oil change or something
August 26th, 2014 at 12:53 PM ^
Let Purdue and Indiana worry about this name.

Quick Change the Name of the Bowl Game.
August 26th, 2014 at 12:58 PM ^
... why should this one be different?
August 26th, 2014 at 1:13 PM ^
Well, at least they kept it in the family since Quick Lane was created by Ford Motor Company to service its vehicles, at least in the beginning. Crain's has some of Ford's reaction to this news here - LINK
“We’re hoping to continue to raise awareness among consumers for the fast service, value and convenience our Quick Lanes deliver,” Frederiek Toney, a Ford vice president who also is president of the Global Ford Customer Service Division, said in a statement.
I am assuming that the halftime show will somehow involve rotating tires and checking the coolant levels.
August 26th, 2014 at 1:42 PM ^
I'm not going to lie, I'd never heard of Quick Lane until this announcement.
August 26th, 2014 at 2:33 PM ^
Well, that's pretty much entirely the point of the sponsorship.

The lowest bowl Michigan should play in over the next decade better be the Pinstripe Bowl, and that better be only a one time thing if it happens. Roses, Oranges, and Sugar are what we as a fan base deserve every year, IMO.
August 26th, 2014 at 1:30 PM ^
That would mean we finished the season at 6-6 and would have to play in the Quick Oil Change Bowl! (QOCB). There would probably be a quick coaching change before or after this bowl game!
August 26th, 2014 at 2:23 PM ^
I will miss the pregame pizza party with the 10 cent slices and free pop with the slice that the LCPB had.
August 26th, 2014 at 2:41 PM ^
but I would not want the team I support (any team) playing in the "Quick Lane Bowl". Another example of the fact that there are way, way way too many bowl games.
I understand you get the extra practice time, but would anyone on these boards want Michigan to play in this game if that was the only choice?
August 26th, 2014 at 2:45 PM ^
Oh no, more college football!
August 26th, 2014 at 3:19 PM ^
Sounds like it's sponsored by a damn bowling alley.
