I never want to see Michael Floyd again. Maybe he'll move to New Zealand. Before the season I debated who was the best sophomore receiver: Jones, Green or Brown. Now I've seen those three and Floyd and he is better than any of them. I hate to say it, but he is damn good. And we have to see him next year.
never want to see floyd again
Tate and Floyd will both be Biletnikoff finalist with Dez Bryant from OSU. Those two are really good. I don't want to see him again either.
That makes it even sweeter that we beat them!
Floyd is a dominant WR but I don't see Tate as being that dominent. He is good, don't get me wrong, but not in the same league as guys like Floyd and the others mentioned by the OP.
Floyd was the best player on the field on Saturday. Forcier was excellent (I don't think that this can be overstressed) but Floyd was dominant and M had no answers for the match-up problems he presented.
Steinbrenner will sign him to a minor league contract...
... too bad Notre Dame doesn't play OSU.
Hard to double when you have both Tate & Floyd on the field together.
You can say that now but at the end of the year Tate leaving early would hurt but not as much as you may think. And I do think he is a key to a successful season this year.
I for one think Shaq Evans will develop into a terrific WR.
You can take Tate with his current abilities and make him a true freshman and that is what Shaq is right now for us. Plus we don't have to start him every game, like we did with Tate so he is able to still get game experience and continuously stronger, all while learning more and more of the play book.
Seems like you will loose a lot of big guys.
I do think you've upgraded your OL coaching BTW.
I think we will be able to return 4 of what is still an 8 man rotation. knock on wood
I talked to many Spartan fans who are confident (no joke here) Rucker will absolutely OWN Floyd. I really didn't know how to react.
I love it. Warren is a 5-star recruit starting to live up to his hype and he barely contained Floyd while Cissoko looked flat out lost. I guess since State fans got a does of reality regarding their overall greatness they had to find something to become delusional about.
I talked to many UM fans who were confident that they were going to a BCS bowl last year.
There are idiots everywhere.
is better right now than braylon was as a senior. i said it
i'm glad we can be civil in our disagreement
i don't see that.
That's a really interesting comparison. Floyd has looked amazing so far this year, but I think it's too early to tell. I'm not sure if he's quite as good as Braylon was yet, but I definitely think he will be in his junior and senior years if he stays that long.
Michael Floyd's stats through 12 career games:
Braylon in 2004 (13 games):
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with what you said, just some stats for comparison's sake. Floyd is an absolute terror, that's for sure
gonna be the answer next year (to the question "how do we cover him?")
Heck, even if he can't lock him down to a large degree, if he can do better than Cissoko did as a True Soph I'll be impressed.
I dont think hes better than Jones or Green. Put a quality receiver on the opposite side of these guys with a QB that can get them the ball, and I think they all come out to about even. I certainly think hes in the top tier of receivers with Jones, Green, and Bryant.
maybe they'll all get want to get out and take the money; especially if coaching changes are in the wind...
are amazing. There are 4 WRs who are a legitimate top 10 draft pick talent. With that being said, I think Floyd is probably 3rd/4th best out of all them with Julio Jones, AJ Green and DeAndre Brown. A very tough crowd for any WR to overtake them.
I think he will look better than those other players because he will have Clausen throwing to him and Tate on the other side, but he very well could be a better player than them. I think Floyd will go on to become an elite WR at the pro level after his Notre Dame career is over, which hopefully will be after his junior year.
Unfortunately, we're stuck having to face him again next season. But maybe Clausen will go pro after this year. I personally hope Clausen has a monster year.
bring in a freshman corner that can cover Floyd and maybe we learned something from the coverage. Our defense is in the same position our offense was last year with another new system and new play caller.
I doubt very much that there will be any freshman corner anywhere in the country that will be able to cover Michael Floyd, let alone one that Michigan is going to just bring in. The guy is a total stud and future NFL player, and the likelihood of some kid who's currently a high school senior being able to cover him is vanishingly small.
