Need Help with a Hotel Room for 9/9/2011

Submitted by house of pain on

My amazing girlfriend just surprised me with two tickets for the ND game. We are coming from Philadelphia and just realized that finding a place to stay in Ann Arbor for that weekend is  impossible. I've been to Ann arbor once before in 09' against EMU and the experience was something I couldn't put into words. So, if there is anyone that canpoint me in the right direction to  help a brother out, I would be incredibly grateful. Thanks everybody.

Are you driving? Stay near Metro. You can get to and from Ann Arbor (assuming you don't hit game traffic) in about 20 minutes.

ALSO: There are a couple  hotels along the I94 Service Drive in Belleville that are only about 15 minutes from the action.

Stay in Windsor, take your girlfriend for a strip club tour, smoke Cuban cigars, then wake up and go to the game for a tailgate. It isn't until very late so you have plenty of time. Caesar's Casino has nice hotel rooms. If I'm not mistaken, the golf course doesn't even open until noon, I believe.

Are you budgeting for the hotel? I just checked the Sheraton site (next to Briarwood mall), where my parents used to stay when they came in town, they have rooms open, but its at like $250. If you're looking for cheaper, you can try like the Victory Inn or Hampton Inn by north campus. Check each hotels site, as those prices can sometimes be cheaper than ones you find from search engines.

......I live in Romulus, which is the next town east past Belleville. I do have a fold-out sofa in the living room. For beer (I will specify type and nation of origin), I might try to talk my wife and kids into letting strangers stay here for a game weekend. LOL

Don't cheap out and stay outside of A2.  I would be shocked if you can still get a room at the Bell Tower, but if they're available do that.  The Business School has a few hotel rooms, as does The League.  Campus Inn puts you in the mix.  Webers Inn is not within walking distance but still in A2.  I like the other fellas idea of Windsor (if your up for that type of weekend), Detroit has 3 large casinos too.  But again, I recommend you stay in A2. Go Blue!

wow, great gift. I think you have a keeper there! That being said, unfortunately I think every single hotel in Ann Arbor is pretty much already booked up for this one. I'd say your best bet is to head over to kayak.com and hope to find a place as close as Ypsi or maybe even Canton. Also with that being the case, might want to book your rental car asap as DTW car rental companies have some the higher rates in the country for whatever reason. Have fun!

You guys are are awesome. I realized that all the rooms would taken, and I see that now. How close is Romulus and Canton to Ann Arbor and the stadium? I think that's going to be the route we're going to have to take. And yeah, she's a keeper,

Ann Arbor

Detroit

Toledo

Sandusky

Cleveland

Pittsburgh.

If you're in the latter, you'll leave with me at 3AM to get to AA when the lots open.  Someplace along the line will be a distance / price value proposition you can live with.

Have fun ; go blue.

I work at the sheraton hotel in novi, mi (21111 haggerty rd novi, mi) which is about 30 minutes from the big house.  I just checked our availablity and we have a lot of rooms left for that weekend, which the most you would pay for a standard king or room with 2 hotel queens would be $99, but u could possibly find a better deal that that on priceline, hotwire or expedia, or even try our central reservations, they  can possibly do better too.  good luck and im pretty jealous, im still looking for my golden ticket (literally no pun intended!) GO BLUE!!

Expedia and all other websites have run out of rooms but you can still get a room at a few hotels. I am staying at the Red Roof Inn onm S. State St. Their rate is $119.99 and they have rooms available for Friday night but not Saturday.

I stupidly waited till last week and managed to pick up a room at the comfort inn in Belleville last week. Its probably the closest you can get outside of AA that wasn't booked up yet, and if the mob on 94 isn't terrible could only be 10-15 minutes from the stadium.

by buying me a case or two.  The place is conveniently located 7 minutes (walking) from the stadium.   Hell, you can have my room for a keg.

I doubt that it's listed on the internet travel services, but I've heard that the Lamp Post Inn on Stadium is pretty nice and it's a longish -- but manageable -- walk to the stadium.  As of a couple of minutes ago, it had three rooms available for the 9th and 10th, under $100 and with kitchenettes.  It's well-rated by Frommer's for what that's worth.
