That would be unsportsmanlike. It's more polite to go with a three-man rush and keep blitzing to an absolute minimum.
Nebraska open competition on O. Line
Jake Cotton is out.
Jeremiah Sirles is banged up.
Right now Coach Garrison, offensive line coach, is holding an open competition, or what he calls an early 2014 spring preview. Basically, they are sorting and trying to create the best combination of five linemen they have left.
Michigan's pass rush has been dire all season, as we all know. Just wondering when and if this team can ever seize the opportunity to exploit another teams weakness.
If Nebraska moves Andrew Rodriguez from tackle to guard and Pensick from center to guard, you basically have a whole line playing unfamiliar positions.
so, you are correct. This will give Mattison a great chance to work on that 3 man rush.
A true Michigan Man does not bully those weaker than him.
Someone posted that article by that uneducated assclown yeserday and the thread was promptly deleted.
60 comments later isn't exactly prompt.
...is found here, along with other tidbits about Nebraska's current state (LINK):
“It’s really an open competition now,” (offensive line coach John) Garrison said. “It’s their opportunity and they have to make the most of it. That’s what they did in practice today. It was a good day.”
Ryne Reeves was a possibility at guard, they said, as well. They will likely have Bell and Long, according to these same snippets, but yeah, the OL situation (among other things) probably is not what they would like coming into Ann Arbor.
tell me where i can find the break down of scholarship players by class? I know we have a ton of FR and SO, but what are the real #'s?? I know we are young, but I am honestly sick of hearing our coaches through youth out constantly as an excuse.
Wow- maybe youth is a major issue.....I think i only counted 25 JR and SR's on scholarship...
Maybe? The lack of player development is on the coaches though.
Development is a major concern. When I think of all of the true FR that have played the last couple years I don't see any of them that have improved. They are still the same players....Morgan, Ross, Bolden, Mario O, etc. We've had serveral players that have looked fantastic for a true FR, then come their SO and JR years and they are barely noticable.....at least not what you hoped they would be.
Everyone you mentioned is much better than they were last year... And as far as your first point, I've hardly ever heard the coaches use youth as an excuse. They say the expectation is for the position. People on here use youth as an excuse, and I'm one of them.
i disagree. for the most part, i think most of the young guys everywhere have improved this year; except for o-line (glasgow excluded) and QB.
Despite the patch work O-line I fully expect Nebraska to run for 300 yards.
Not going to happen with the chubby guy at QB. He might throw for 300, though.
It's possible, but we are not a bad defense against the run.
Your expectations would do well to be more in line with reality.
What reality? That this is a deeply flawed team? Then yes my expectations are in line with that.
Let's face it, if Dennard doesn't go down we would be 3-0 against these over-rated, badly coached Huskers. I know there's a ton of gloom and doom around these parts lately, but I'm staying positive. Just like MSU showed they are simply a better team than us, we will show that we are simply a better team than Nebraska. I think we go 3-0 an get some momentum going into The Game where we ruin yet another Buckeye season. All the pressure will be on them, just like Pelini is feeling the hot seat right now. If we curb stomp Nebraska, it could spell the end of their coach this year. Go Blue!!!
But this will be a true bell weather game! Lose big at home and we probably end up 6-6. Lose a close game, we could still go 7-5 or 8-4. Win this game and we have a real chance building on the win and cold win our next 2 games before meeting OSU. I think we will win a very close game against NE at home. and split both road games before losing a close game against OSU. God help us if we lose to NE!
shall do a 3 man rush, no blitzing.
