OMG Shirtless

The current one is essentially worthless.  I'm really sick of hearing about Hawk Harrelson during the Tigers game, so I'll click on anything.  I was really hoping this was his retirement game when I saw him giving a speech on the field before the game.

EDIT: Nice change!

We become Charlie Brown.  We keep running up to kick the 'OMG-it's-official' football, and 'No-such-offer-has-been-made' Lucy keeps pulling the ball away.

When will we learn?

A chance to get revenge not only for the BS "split NC" in 97....But also for the Alamo Bowl.

Nebraska, a shit-storm is brewing over the skies of Omaha.

Actually the Huskers are in Lincoln, about 45 mins away from Omaha.  There's a different university of nebraska here in Omaha.  Either way, I hope this happens, both because I think Nebraska is classy program that will fit in well and so that I can get the B10 Network on standard cable.

That thing is even lamer than that demonic corn enthusiast Herbie Husker.

Let's face it, the real reason I came to Michigan was to get the stench of the Nebraska Mascot off me.  Only a team as cool as the Wolverines, with no mascot suit, could cure it.

I tell everyone it was their top-rated grad program that got me here, but the truth will out.

I hope it stops at Nebraska. I don't want to have more than 12 teams. Unless Notre Dame or Texas is one of the teams we invite. I'm not a fan of "superconferences" though.

If I were USC, I'd wait until the real news breaks on all this expansion talk. With the explosion of the Big 12 (Colorado, Nebraska and Mizzou all are rumored to be already gone) officially hitting the fan: that is the time to announce your sanctions. They'll be news cycle for 24 hours and then eclipsed.

In all of this I never thought the Big 12 was the conference heading for the boneyard. A power conference with national contenders, versus the Big East?

I think Delany has really moved on from ND. Sure we're giving them the chance to opt in, but we're making bigger moves and they can fish or cut bait.

Well, the Big 12 has a lot of things going against it. For one, they are centrally located, so they are primed for the Pac 10, the Sec, and the Big Ten to pick them apart. For another, they are a young conference (the big 8 conference has history, but all the Texas schools are pretty new to the party) and there aren't as many ties holding them together as there is in the Big Ten. And another, they have an uneven revenue share, which I'm sure irks some teams.

Me neither, and you can lay the blame for this squarely on Texas, which seems to make Notre Dame look like a model of humility. If UT had actually given a shit about the money issue as it concerned schools like Missouri or conference administration questions that concerned Nebraska, it could have kept things together while still being the premiere athletic school in a powerful conference. If NU/Mizzou/Colorado leave, then either Texas will join the Pac10 and share the limelight with USC and deal with the condescension of Stanford and Cal, or stay in a diminished Big 12 that replaces Nebraska with TCU or Tulsa.

It's really interesting to read through that thread and see the level of acceptance the board had for the OP.  He basically said, "I know a guy who says" and they're all just like, "ok, that's cool, I unquestionably believe you."  That OP would have gotten hit pretty hard here.

Reading through the comments it appears that:

A) The guy either works for the AD or is in direct contact with someone in the AD.

B) He has made predictions in the past regarding dealings in the NU AD and has usually been spot on.

At the Indy 500 this year I got a chance to talk with about two dozen Nebraska alumni - and to the last one they wanted to be in the Big Ten.  Sure they would miss some of the rivalry games, but they all wanted to know how serious the Big Ten was and how Michigan fans felt about it.

They were cocky about their teams chances and wondered how the Big Ten would be configured.  They especially wanted Michigan, OSU, PSU and Wisconsin...

For what its worth...

Prior to this past weekend this obviously would not have been something worth mentioning, In light of the full-scale conference-pocalypse I figured it was worth adding to this thread about another Big 12 school bolting to the Big Ten. So sorry for wasting your time with my seventeen word post.

Aaaaand, the Omaha World-Herald joins the party. Basically saying that an announcement may be proceeding as soon as Friday.

Edit: Oops, I gues DrewG32 beat me to it. So I'll provide another story of note:

Guy on the Nebraska board of regents talks about advantages to the Big Ten over the Big12:

Here

Friday also coincides with the University of Nebraska's monthly Board of Regents meeting, starting Friday in Lincoln. Board of Regents chairman Bob Phares told Statepaper Monday that he anticipated a briefing Friday, and saw "potentially two obvious advantages, maybe three" to joining the Big Ten.

"It seems to be the more stable conference than the Big 12, in total," Phares said. "There doesn't seem to be the agitation that exists from time to time in the Big 12."

If Big Ten revenue figures are accurate, Phares said, "there's certainly some economic advantage.

And: "I think there's some educational prestige that might be there in the Big Ten that's not in the Big 12."

I'm actually surprised at how many Huskers want this to happen.  I like the move, but if Nebraska is the 12th, I think the Big 10 is going to at least 14.

welcome Nebraska. Hope your ready to get smacked around by us for years to come.  '97 and the alamo bowl still fresh in the minds of Michigan fans.

If the rumors about Nebraska to the Big 10, and Colorado to the Pac 10 become true, wouldn't the Big 12 become the Big 10, and the Big 10 become the Big 12. Ow, my head hurts!
