Nebraska adds Idaho State in 2012; Big Ten football schedules officially completed

Submitted by Maize_in_Spartyland on

Nebraska made changes to their future schedules, adding South Alabama in 2015 and 2019, BYU in 2015, and, most importantly, Idaho State in 2012, completing their football schedule.

Nebraska was the only team left in the Big Ten to have not filled out their schedule.

I just want to congratulate the satirical genius who did the table.

Probabily the same lame reason that Wisconsin played Northern @ Soldier Field this year.  Their first true road test...

Glad to see PSU is keeping their rivalry with Temple in place.  Although once they move to the Big East they can be assured that they will never play PSU again.  Just ask Pitt.

It's good to see us playing the toughest non-conference schedule.  Who would you rank second, Northwestern?  I was "discussing" next year's schedule with an Ohio fan today and he's sure we'll lose 4-5 games and that it's sad that Hoke's "best year will be his first year" because of the easy schule.  I know we definitely had some breaks last year but come on.  I'm cautiously optimistic about Alabama and pretty confident about the rest of the schedule.

I'd be happy with 9-3 next year. I think  @Nebraska will be a lot tougher than people expect. Sparty and OSU are 50/50 games. Alabama is a loss unless Denard finds his inner Dan Marino this year.

I'm from Idaho and we are quite proud of Holt Arena. Its the oldest enclosed stadium on a college campus and the second oldest overall. Only the Astrodome is older. It gets cold in Idaho, so High School state championships are played in this stadium. The field is rock hard and no fun to play on, so it might not be an improvement on playing outside, but it still feels cool to walk into the stadium as a high schooler. I'm glad I got out and got to watch some football in the big house, but take it easy on ole' Holt Arena :-P

I've never seen it personally. The roof does get pretty low and I would suspect a college level punt from the endzone would hit if it went more vertical than horizontal. In the enzone the roof is probably 40 or 50 feet and rises towards the midfield so it would probably have to be a fairly bad kick but I can see it happening.

If a strong kicker was kicking a field goal and it got high on him it could easily hit the roof near the goalpost. Don't know the rules on that, and I haven't ever seen it personally.

Side note: The PBR rodeo is often held in Holt arena, and I think it is by far the most popular event. Idaho still has a large population of honest-to-goodness cowboys. Some out-of-towners will point and laugh at the cowboys because they are all dressed up with belt buckles and hats. They do this until they realize that its real cowshit on the cowboy's boots :-D

Wow.  Look at Wisconsin's non-conference schedule: Northern Iowa, @ Oregon State, Utah State and UTEP.  That might be their toughest non-conference slate in 15 years.  Nice to see they're finally moving their strength of schedule up from 115th to around 90th.

Baby steps.
