is trying to look down Erin's shirt in that first one....
and i would be too
" . . . and he's a poor thrower."
" . . . oh, wide open!"
38-0 x 2
That 2007 38-0 was still the most satisfying game I've ever been to. After all of the confusion and sadness of those first two weeks and then the weeklong build-up of insufferable high school friends who were/became Domers, watching that beat down was pure happiness.
"We go light it up like it's Dyn-o-mite!"
They went for it all!
....of said rivalry...."This is incredible, Michigan's gonna score..."
Best quote from Criqui: "Incomplete....but wait, touchdown". Hahahahahahah.
Criqui was doing Patriots preseason games this year. He was terrible. Now, I know why*.
This is the best homer commentator collapse of all time! It NEVER gets old and I laugh out loud every time!
I hope we get something like this out of the game this year!
I hope we get something like this out of the game this year!
"WIDE OPEN IS GALLON...THEY LEFT HIM ALONE!"
wins the internet. I am totally going to attempt doing that later this fall. Strong work.
That says "Purple Kelly"
After the Alabama loss I found myself feeling that I didn't care about the Notre Dame game this year and just wanted to beat Michigan State. But after they beat MSU and this national ND IS BACK lovefest began, I really hope we crush them. I really don't think MSU is as bad as they looked on Saturday, and they usually have one game a year where they just...suck. (Last year @ Nebraska) I don't think Notre Dame is that good either. They have a freshman QB (or Rees) and a banged up secondary (that MSU didn't really exploit with all their dropped passes). Sure they have a good front four, but how much of that was just because of MSU's banged up OL? I think it comes down to our DBs covering their receivers and Denard being able to throw on the run and get out into space.
I was feeling the same way. "Well a loss wouldn't be so bad, we could still win the Big Ten, we're probably due for one..." stuff like that.
But after they won against MSU, things started flaring up. MSU fans saying how we're gonna get shut out, ND fans saying how they're finally *back*, idiot media members like Musberger talking about how ND/Oklahoma could have National Title implications.
To Hell with Notre Dame
I was only nine years old, but I remember it anyhow...
Whenever my wife and I are discussing home redecorating, if she asks me how I think we should paint a particular wall, my response is "With a floor-to-ceiling mural depicting Desmond Howard's diving touchdown catch on fourth and one against Notre Dame". Somehow she's not as big on the idea as I am.
What is Jeff Fisher doing in the picture?
...from the future...
I'm not going to argue with the rest of the flow chart but implying that Notre Dame isn't a good school is stupid. Notre Dame has top notch academics, probably better than Michigan's.
Thank you Buzz Killington.
Wrong about the last part, too.
Sorry, I grew up a michigan fan and go to notre dame now so I felt the need to defend my school's academic standards.
Good for you. This is not the place (nor the week) to argue that ND is better than Michigan academically.
Out of curiosity - what made you choose ND over Michigan, especially growing up a Michigan fan? I was pretty unbiased going in, but I just don't see the redeeming qualities of ND, assuming you got in both places.
Yeah, I got into both Michigan and ND and with both of them being such high quality schools, the academics really didn't come into play. I made my decision mostly because Notre Dame is smaller and has an incredibly tight-knit student body and I hadn't really gotten that vibe from anywhere else. ND also has an awesome campus if you haven't seen it.
I have been to ND's campus, a number of times. It is really awesome, if you hate fun.
ND's campus is pretty, like an art museum is pretty. I don't want to go to college at an art museum though.
Okay. Well, I'm sure this won't convince you as you seem to be an expert on the topic but Notre Dame has been a ton of fun. As you are not a student here you can't really experience it for yourself but trust me it's a lot of fun. I've been to Michigan a lot, I go to Notre Dame, they are both fun. And as for the campus, it all depends on your personal opinion.
OK, now I think you're punking me. Even my staunchest ND grad friends don't say ND is fun. When I was a student, we visited ND a couple times either for football games or to visit friends. The social scene was worse than high school. When ND kids would come visit us it was like their first time to Vegas.
Honestly, it all depends on what dorm you get (yeah, it's a really weird system), I got lucky and got the dorm that is the most lax on drinking rules so we can basically do whatever we want. Some of the other dorms aren't so lucky and I can see that if the people you knew were in some of those then it might suck.
Having spent four years in Ann Arbor, five years in Lansing/East Lansing, and three years in South Bend, I can confirm that South Bend sucks.
I don't know how i could possibly make this any clearer. Yes, south bend sucks, I said that earlier. What I am saying is that college at Notre Dame is fun. That's all. What I like(d) about Michigan fans is that they're smart and rational. You and LAWolv or whatever his name is, please stop making me think I was wrong about that all these years.
jump in and defend my brothers....YOU WERE WRONG. you should have went to Michigan
Come on dude, stop busting his chops. Saying ND isn't fun is kind of reaching, can't you agree?
It's ND hate week. Those are the rules.
Not really. I've been to South Bend twice and it's not that much fun, not compared to a public university. Speaking from personal experience, coming to Michigan after 12 years of parochial education was a major culture shock in terms of behavior that was tolerated socially. The vibe I get from ND is the same vibe I had when I was in Catholic school, we used to test boundaries and pull shenanigans, but my friends in public HS were much more worldly than I was.
Saying South Bend isn't fun isn't reaching. It's science.
Michigan is also located in a pretty awesome city if you haven't seen it.
I have, I love Ann Arbor. South Bend sucks and theres no denying it but I made my decision on different criteria.
Ha. No worries man. Just trolling you a little bit. ND is certainly a good school. Just curious...who are you rooting for this Saturday?
Well I'll be wearing notre dame stuff, otherwise I'd be beat up in the student section. But it'll be really strange, probably sort of a mixture, I guess its a win-win situation?
Remy Hamilton (1994)
buddy ran down my street after he made that kick...
led the charge out onto Notre Dame's field as the ball went through the uprights. I was about 20 yards out onto the field when I realized that there was time left on the clock. I turned around to head off the field, but the Michigan crowd was all running at me. Eventually they cleared the field for the final play.
Any chance this guy is you or one of your buddies?
We were charging in from the corner of the endzone. We would have been just off the screen to the right at that moment, and if my memory serves me correctly, we had a much larger group following us.
...he says after realizing how short those shorts were.
Best. Away. Jersey. Ever.
Seriously. Why did we feel the need to F with it?
Oh man, I was in South Bend for that game. You could literally feel the air go out of that stadium when that kick got home. Easily one of my five best moments at a live sporting event. It was great.
This is one of the first Michigan games I can remember. I was 15 years old sitting in section 43 row 62 I beleive. Great game, great memory.
This was taken probably 30 minutes after the game and there are still more butts in the stands than the recent U Miami game!
Is this 2003 or 2007? I would guess 2007 due to Notre Dame's rushing statistics. It's funny that we beat them 38-0 twice in such a short span. Add in the 47-21 and baby we got a stew going!
According to the WWL: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=272580130
In 2003 ND managed to claw its way to 49 yards of rushing, 91 yards passing. http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=232560130
-6 yards rushing. Sweet Jesus.
Michigan fans leaving Notre Dame Stadium after the 47-21 game...
This gives me goosebumps every time. One of my favorite Michigan wins ever.
I was in that tunnel and I remember it well. I especially remember the guy with the cowbell (never sounded sweeter) and the chant "It's great....to be....a Michigan Wolverine....It's great....to be.....a Michigan Wolverine" thundering through the place. By the time that game was over we owned that stadium.
I loved chanting "There go the Irish.....There go the Irish" as their fans left the place. Oh yeah...there were a lot of Knute Rockne - Ara Parseghian - Charlie Weis T-shirts being worn that day. Not so much afterwards.
That was my cowbell
Is a little too similar to what I hear about Michigan from my SEC friends...
The catch. Bite me, Lou.
...I believe you will find a young Les Miles. Man, I remember when the assistant coaching staff would be a retrospective "who's who" of coaching.
Such a beautiful catch, you barely notice the dude in tight pink shorts in the background (1:35)...
I like how the color guy thinks he's joking when he calls Desmond a "Heisman Trophy candidate."
my house last year...
I know 7 Nation Army's been done to death since, but watching the moments leading up to that final kick off always gives me the chills.
i dont doubt that you ate a lot of meat that day and every day after that day
I wanted to follow that up with "Brady Quinn for Heisman", which was actually better, but that Youtube account is gone, and I can find NO copies of that video anywhere online. Does anyone still have it? Oh, 2006 ND game. How I love thee.
On the field for 38-0 the sequel (2007)
Reading the Notre Lame football forums is about as good as comedy comes now days. These guys are drinking the BK kool-aide hard.
If you need to inject some hillarity in your life, check out irishenvy.com its truly spectacular.
Must thou tempt the almighty ban hammer?
I am already in some pretty heated discussions...getting really good...currently arguing with a guy who says ND has been and always will be better than UM, and that we will be stuck picking up our spilt change fromt he bama game, for the next 5 years while they go on to win national championships...god i cannot even make this stuff up hahaha!
But you are making it up..... I have been following your threads over there. Its ok man. Come back to your friends over here for some bro fists and chest bumps to make you feel better.
Pumpkin is beyond AMAZING! 1 million points to you sir
Rick Reilly's "Watch 'Rudy' 'til you feel better" line should be an option after "Lose" and "Bad Season" on the flow chart.
Your avatar needs to be made into a shirt
I would definitely buy the shirt if Six Zero made one. And I like your signature statement.
no one added this one yet
She isn't offensive to the eyes. Lest we forget this little ND gem?
...how has the Denard post game interview from UTL not been posted yet?
2009 my favorite.
I wonder when we are going to see 38-0 Part III?
If they don't extend the rivalry series out now that ND has its new ACC focused schedule, it might be awhile before we get another 38-0. We'd need our defense to be at top form which it's currently not, and we'd probably need ND to be going through another coaching transition.
Met balbezit voor Frank de Boer, Frank de Boer speelt de bal heel goed naar Dennis Bergkamp. Dennis Bergkamp, Dennis Bergkamp neemt de bal aan. Dennis BergKAMP! DENNIS BERGKAMP! DENNIS BERGKAMP! DENNIS BERGKAMP! DENNIS BERGKAMP!! AAAAHHHHWHHH!!!!
