That make me hate overtime.
well that's just, like, your opinion, man
That make me hate overtime.
ND wins 3-0. I'm a Wolvie in Spartyland, they need to lose. Like seriously.
Think of the yakety sax required for that.
Although I don't think Brian Kelly or any of his quarterbacks would survive the game.
Root against ND always (put more distance between us and them for wins and win percentage records).
This game is even easier since, in general, we want the B1G to do well.
Pains me to say, but I'm rooting for Sparty. I live in NE Ohio & there's a lot of delusional Domers around here running their collective mouths about how they're back....again. They say they're going to sweep the state of Michigan this year and no way does Shoelace run all over them....again LMAO
I never go for ND.
I am hoping for it to look like the garbage game that MSU-OSU was last year.
For Kelly to turn purple and for Dantonio to look like a douche
Anything other than what you describe would be a surprise.
ND's QBs to struggle so much that he plays all 3 of them and still has no clue who will start vs us. and also Id like to see Andrew Maxwell NOT get into a groove. that is all.
When were periods at the end of a sentence replaced by "that is all"? Been seeing that a lot lately.
This comment would have been perfect with a empty line and then "that is all" following.
that is all.
I'm curious what Kelly's blood pressure level was at the moment to possibly make him look like that.
A Big Ten win over a ranked team would sure be nice right about now.
I think the Big 10's reputation for 2012 is pretty much wrecked at this point. Better ND wins and we take them down the following week.
I agree. I say we take off & nuke the planet from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
Seriously though, I wouldn't mind it if Michigan has a good year while the rest of the B1G struggles. Conclusion: my Sparty hatred has overtaken my rancor of ND - it's a matter of streaks. We've had ND's number, MSU has had ours. I wish the worst upon the recent best.
Not a fan of the domers, but can't root for sparty.
perfect answer-sparty is becoming intolerable-would be nice to take them down a bit-i want them to have some doubts before they play us
Did you forget that ranked team is Notre Dame?
Have to root for MSU. It’s a non-conference game for them, and anytime a B1G team wins it makes the whole conference better. Look at everything that went down after last weekend’s games, everyone agreeing what a s**t conference the B1G is this year.
Personally, I try to cheer on the B1G teams whenever they play out of conference. (I said TRY, mind you) It can be very tough. Even find myself feeling a bit of satisfaction when they screw up on a play, BUT… only logical way to defend our schedule, even when it is the buckeyes.
(Also in my book, ND is a greater rival that MSU. May be more of a need to win a particular game a given year, as now, but overall it's ND to me.)
Root for ND, do we get into the Sugar bowl last year if State is 11-2 overall after the B1G championship?
But I'm always looking at it from a U-M perspective, I'd rather ND win so that they'll be cockier and less needing of a victory the next week against us.
How does it benefit Michigan, that is all.
Edit: the reply bug is acting up again; this was intended for the guy with bonitus, above.
Commencing my query on an odd trend developing on this forum.
I have a question: When were periods at the end of sentences replaced by “that is all”? I just asked a question.
This question’s inspiration – I’ve been seeing this happen more and more lately at MGoBlog and it troubles me deeply.
I have a two more questions which I am going to ask right now: Wouldn’t the fact that there is nothing after your last sentence be evidence enough that that was in fact all you had to say? Or must the obvious be made more clear?
I just asked three questions and explained what instigated them.
I’ve now concluded my query.
That is all.
Oops no that is not all.
I’m going to randomly share my biggest online pet peeve. People that spell “definAtely” evidencing they learned their grammar via online forums.
The period at the end of the word forums in the last sentence was apparently not enough so let me just say that is all.
I hate Notre Dame with the power of a thousand suns, but Dantonio is such an insufferable dickhead...
It is a tough call - kind of like a certain town in CO choosing a school mascot:
to win. That way, everybody will think ND is all good and blah blah blah, and then when we beat them, they will be all like "dang, Michigan is back." Then when State wins all their games until Michigan after they lose to ND, people will be all like State is good and blah blah blah, and then when we beat State everybody will be like "dang, Michigan is really back." But then, ND already beat Purdue and if they beat too many Big Ten teams the conference looks even worse. But then, if State wins, then ND is coming off a loss when we play them and I hate that. Oh my god I'm so confused :(
I want ND to win this one time as we play them the following week and I want their team and Coach Kelly to be in full arrogance mode.
It's very unusual for us to be the last of the 3 Big Ten teams to play ND. In fact, we're usually first and, at least recently, we've been beating them. Then I'm free to root for ND to keep losing to Big Ten teams because I root for the conference and I hate ND. In this case though, we want them undefeated, feeling the media love and "returning to glory" next week. Best case scenario for going to their house and coming away with a win.
and would like MSU to pull it out so we can get some more Brian Kelly Purple Faced Screaming gifs that I like to post on my fantasy football league board.
Root for neither and cackle in glee if they both look like shite
It is hard to decide when you want both teams to win and both teams to lose. I am sick and tired of hearing the Big Ten bashing though so I guess I want MSU to win after several overtimes and lots of expended energy.
I'm with ND.
I enjoyed the hell out of that ND-MSU game in East Lansing about 6 years ago, when, after the monsoon, ND comes back from way down and steals it. Buddy had an extra ticket. Good seats.
Plus that game was the catalyst of the epic Valenti rant the following Monday.
I would like to see our family member in Lansing go down as I would like to see that bubble burst. However, I think they will win (or Purdue is better than I am willing to accept) as ND seems to be overhyped as per usual.
I should give a good read on how strong the MSU D really is this year and how weak the ND secondary is.
D'Antonio is a galactically huge ass hat.
he is a GHAH. or maybe for him it is G'Hah.
I'm with you. I'll be rooting against both of them, hoping to enjoy some good times at both of their expense. I'd like to see false starts/offsides, fumbles/interceptions, pass interferences, and all-around horrible play.
Never for Notre Dame
The Spartan fans, having ingested so much beer, reach critical mass as they enter the stadium, throwing off a few higgs-boson particles, collasping the area into a singularity, which then drifts into space, saving the rest of Michgan.
Sorry - these are just kids playing a game - shouldn't wish that on anyone - how about a lot of deep bone bruises?
not career threatening injuries. Just injuries that keep players out through October.
I'm not rooting for either team. One winner, one loser - we get to play them both. The only game that Michigan State plays this year that really matters is against us. Notre Dame can die in a fire of mediocrity.
To be fair, Notre Dame has been dying in a fire a mediocrity for decades. And I pray it continues.
We didn't start the fire...
No punts. Only turnovers/missed FGs. Game called because of lightning.
Is it possible for them both to lose? No? ugh dangit. I hate Sparty, GO IRISH!
Probably Notre Dame. Hopefully a loss to them will shut all the Sparties up about how unstoppable they are
Hopefully a loss to them will shut all the Sparties up about how unstoppable they are
Meh, beating them in Ann Arbor will do the same thing. I can wait.
tweet about us, dream about us. I could care less what team out of this msierable lot wins.
been saying that wrong for a long time now. Thank you.
ND wins but while in East Lansing the defense comes down with a terrible flu virus that lasts two weeks.
I live in Chicago so all I ever hear about is ND from friends and the media here. Anytime something happens to Michigan it's from ND fans, not so much from the MSU or Ohio fans I know. It gets very annoying. I'm sure thats similar in Michigan but for MSU instead. Would love to see ND lose and reeling going into the game with us. I just really can't stand the school and the fans I know.
Our finest coaches have long detested the Irish, I prefer to carry on the sentiment.
Meteor shower, followed by a sudden torrential downpour and ending with a freakish ice storm. Lastly, a case of food poisoning for good measure.
Why do I have to root for anybody? Can't I just watch the game?
Wait... the game is in East Lansing. It will be like 3 miles from my house.
EVERYONE STOP ROOTING FOR THE METEOR. Or root for a very small meteor. Either way.
YOU HAVE SET IN MOTION A TERRIBLE CHAIN OF EVENTS!!!!
right out of my mouth.
I will enjoy the game. One of my favorite in-stadium experiences was the monsoon game. For a Michigan fan, this one is always fun to watch no matter the outcome.
I have a MP3 recording of the Valenti rant after the monsoon game. Just listened to it again, and yeah, it's still pretty funny six years later.
It's wonderful. And if ND loses, that's wonderful too.
I like ND and MSU to both have crappy teams and crappy seasons. I'd be very happy if they were the worst two teams we beat every year. I don't need them to be good to feel better about beating them.
I don't know how that translates into being too proud to root for them. Perhaps you can explain that. While you're at it, what does "Pride comes before the fall" mean?
Beating a good MSU team looks good for Michigan. If it comes down to whether we get in a BCS bowl or not, it would look good on our scheudule that we beat a 10-2 team as opposed to a 7-5 team. I don't care if you like it or not, but that is what the voters and the people across the country look at. Now, unless you don't care what bowl Michigan gets into, or the national image of Michigan, you should hope that the opponenents they play are good.
I don't like your tone Mr Miggle.
We totally control our ability to get into a BCS bowl. It's a little strategy called "Win the Big 10 Championship".
Your right, I forgot things always go as panned.
I don't like your tone either. In your OP you presumptively attack people who don't agree with you and assign a nonsensical reason for our opinions.
How did us beating ND work out for MSU last year? The idea that our BCS prospects depend on whether MSU has a good team seems pretty far-fetched. What are we going to do if/when they revert to form? At most it could make a tiny difference. Wins against Neb and Ohio may look better anyhow and we did get there last year without a signature win. If MSU has a crappy season, it will mostly be due to their losing to other teams we're going to play. I don't see how that's going to hurt our strength of schedule.
I'm going to root for our team to win the conference. I'll root for us to have much better seasons than our rivals. Rooting for teams I dislike because it may make us look slightly better to somebody else, that I'm not going to do.
Or this question will always have the same answers from the same demographics;
Fans who are in to Schadenfreude - "whatever humiliates everyone", today seems like 6 OTs with coaches being purple douches is the specific answer
Fans who associate their own status with Michigan's rivalry status - "I route for anyone playing MSU", now don't be confused that ND is a rivalry. it is, but ND fans don't really see any rivalries because they are an independent, thus everyone is against them. Spartans can feel they have a successful year if their only win is against Michigan. Michigan fans you can't ignore this will look for any response to the Sparties.
Fans you are looking at the big picture (tend to be older, since experience brings wisdom and ability to look at the big picture - "I always root for the Big Ten, since this reflects on Michigan also".
The strength of the wolf is the pack and the strength of the pack is the wolf applies to the Big Ten as well. Go back to all the bowl games in 1997. Michigan's National Championship popularity vote had to beat back the opinion of the Big Ten as weak since all the major bigs of the Big Ten lost in post season bowls. I would have to look it up, but I know PSU and OSU both lost, and I think there was only one other Big Ten team who one out of the 6-7 who made it to bowls.
You should always cheer for Big Ten against non-Big Ten. Being the Big Fish in the little pond is not impressive.
I hate MSU way more but I want them undefeated on Oct. 20. The last two seasons when they have had a big road game at the time of the year and have had a "due for a loss" feeling (at Iowa in 2010, at Nebraska in 2011) they have been crushed.
As much as Dantonio makes it hard, I root for MSU in this game. Rooting for Notre Dame is like rooting for Al Qaeda. Fuck them.
MSU still sucks, their colors suck, their fans suck, their mascot sucks, their all time record sucks, their coach is the suckiest suck who ever sucked, but I have their back this Saturday.
Always root against Notre Dame. Always.
What did you do when ND played OSU?
I enjoyed all the shots of the ND fans and players in misery. And I used that to make me feel better over a happy Buckeye nation.
It was poetic justice in a way. Notre Dame had no business being in a BCS bowl in 2005 anyway. Their resume was a joke but they got the invite because they were Notre Dame. I had to take delight in them losing that day.
nd got their ASS handed to them away & at home by ohio.
nd has lived on their reputation and freaking weak scheduling for decades. In the 70's and during the Holtz era they had decent teams (not up to standard B1G teams of that era) but decent ... that all changed when they would tiptoe through at least 5 games a year, play 4 decent teams and 2 good teams ... of course the 1 bowl win in the last 20 years tells everything you need to know about their lack of being relevant since the Holtz years ...
bottom line - hope sparty wins, because we want their balloon to be real full on 10/20/12.
Notre Dame was a top program during the Holtz era. It was after Holtz left and Davie took over that things went downhill for them.
Notre Dame was a top program during the Holtz era. It was after Holtz left and Davie took over that things went downhill for them.
but comparing ND with Al Qaeda especially today is not cool.
Hahaha, you said Dantonio makes it hard. NTTIAWWT.
Bowling Green shows up and beats both teams.
I root for the Big10 in non-conference games every year. So I would prefer that Sparty win.
I will never cheer for MSU. The Sparty bandwagon fans are getting out of control. Hopefully a loss to ND will shut them up a bit. This is the only day of the year I cheer for ND. The rest of the time I want to see them lose.
reminds me of the guy who met two witches at a dance.
One witch says to him:
"I'm the lesser of two evils."
Preferably near enough to at least singe D'Antonio.
Given a draw in the hate department, you have to root for Sparty. It's a B10 team. And we'd get more credit beating an undefeated Sparty than an undefeated ND. Nobody cares about ND.
State must be brought back down to earth. I think states gonna win this one, too. I know it's at home, but Andrew Maxell -- under the lights in a nationaly televised game -- spells doom, gloom and heck of a lotta ints!
I'm holding my nose and rooting for ND on this one. ND will have it's losses through the rest of the schedule and a MSU loss helps us in the case of three way tie breaker in the legends division. That and the MSU hype train is beyond insufferable this year.
Gameday already announced they're going to Knoxville for the Tennessee-Florida game.
Both are still ranked when we beat them. However, I hate ND so I hope that they get smacked.
I'm rooting for mononucleosis.
But right now, after 4 years of of losing to them and swollen heads the size of Jupiter I want them crushed. I want to see Dantonio handled at home and all of these Spartan fans who think they are Alabama north, king of the big 10, and given 11-1 team slapped back into reality. I want all of the Michigan fans who are starting to believe the hype to see the truth. I want them exposed. And then I want them to get blown out at Michigan by 4 TD's. By 2018 I want Dantonio sub .500. He is a true douchebag. I hate ND but my level of sickness towards Sparty and that fanbase is at an all time high. And now that we are in the same division in our conference, i'll even be rooting for the evil empire from Columbus when they play them. Anything that benefits Michigan football is a win win. MSU losing to this horrible ND team is a benefit.
ND, not even close. The B1G is up for grabs this year. The more losses MSU has, the better for us.
A loss to out of conference ND does nothing for us. I guess you could root against MSU in conference play, but at the end of the day, the only game that matters on their schedule is against UM.
You are right. I forgot about that rule. The chances of that being an issue towards the end of the season is small, but there is still a chance. Something to think about I guess.
But the equivalent of it is what kept MSU out of the Rose Bowl (and thus a BCS bowl) a couple of years ago. It happens more often than people think.
I love that we Michigan fans, students, alumni actually are split on this or that this is even a question. In Sparty land, I don't think this will be a topic when we play ND.
Fifth and final thought:
Having said this, I really don't care who wins ND vs. MSU. I care about whether our OL gets its act together, so that Toussaint starts gaining yards.
What happened to your points?
I don't normally pay attention, but I don't think I've ever before seen "0" as a point total.
Hail, fire, and brimestone.
Also, Charlie Weiss being dropped from a plane onto Brian Kelly and Mark Dantonio.
I'm rooting for an asteroid.
Why do I have to root FOR either of them? I suspect ND will decide they need more criminals after this game, but lil' bro might decide they need more students. Either way, I won't be watching.
I'd like both teams to play spectacularly badly, and then for ND to eke out a win in a way that humiliates and demoralizes MSU.
Better yet, how about a 20-hour rain delay? That would be fun to read about how all the fans left and the players were all exhausted.
I'm pretty happy with the current ND situation. The whole country views it as a recently struggling program, not to mention we've been succesful against them. Sparty, on the other hand, is claiming to be relevant nationally. Barely beating a rebuilding Boise and losing to ND at home thru 3 weeks should shut them up. Go Irish
Root for ND. Always. MSU is a bigger rival, and we have to own the state of Michigan to be nationally competitive. We don't ever want MSU to have the credibiilty that comes from something like a BCS bowl vicotry.
Before we worry about a BCS victory from the thugs in EL.
always the asteroid
but seriously, to hell with ND
I'm rooting for a Tom Gholston punch, a Brian Kelly freakout, a few tommy rees fumbles followed by kneeing a cop, Laveon Bell carrying the ball 50 times, Dion Sims to steal a few computers, a few burning couches....
And a partridge in a pear tree?
Notre Dame beating Sparty was crucial in us getting a BCS bowl last year. I doubt we would have made it to the Sugar Bowl if they'd been 11-2 and we'd been 10-2.
Therefore, in case of a similar situation (God, I hope not....) where we lose to them again, it would ultimately help us for them to have an OOC loss.
Anyway, from an emotional standpoint, I don't really care who wins, I just want to beat both of them.
Or bad weather. Maybe the refs. Maybe they can win.
dude. You pick today of all days to make that joke?
Terrorist jokes on 9/11 are bad. Very bad. Poor taste. Inconsiderate. Uncalled-for. Not good. You need to sit the rest of this month out. Take this time on the Bolivian beach to think about what you've done and come back a changed poster.
for no one, whoever wins I will be like, meh.....but I hope they just beat the shit out of eachother.
Tiebreaker for the division if it's a round-robin tie eventually gets to the highest BCS ranked team, and then overall record.
So say we beat MSU, MSU beats Nebraska, and Nebraska beats us (or with two losses each...Ohio State beats everyone else), Michigan and Nebraska already have out of conference losses. So MSU is going to be ranked higher without an OOC loss, and go to the championship game instead of us. If we want to play for the championship, it helps us to have ND win.
Beating an undefeated MSU but losing to LSU in the Cap 1 Bowl doesn't do our rep any better than winning a mediocre conference and losing to Oregon in the Rose Bowl.
ND is still the progam to fear out of that pair in the longterm. They'll always have the higher ceiling and putting Kelly firmly on the hot seat just keeps them further away from hitting it.
If we can't beat MSU (Maxwell ain't Cousins, losing Worthy is a big deal) and Nebraska (I do thank them for giving the Bruins a great deal of false hope) this year that is just on us.
In a few years when ND finally realizes they have to join a conference and they go all ACC, we won't even be playing them. So they'll be Florida State's problem.
in the Chicagoland area. I can't stand 'em, so root for Sparty, then we crush them the following week for a powerful one-two punch. Plus, ND always acts like they don't need the B1G, don't want the B1G, but they play 3 games a year against the B1G to establish their supremacy in the Midwest.
With any luck, Spartan Stadium will be in the center of the Vogon's new hyperspace bypass. Alternatively, the Borg could always scoop the stadium off the face of the planet in their attempt to gather intelligence on humans. Finding nothing intelligent, they would then move on.
That being said, to make our chances of getting to the BTCG that much better, perhaps Notre Dame will win before the Vogons start construction (but not in time to get out of the stadium).
I'm from South Bend so I'm going for MSU in hopefully a crushing blowout. And it makes the Big Ten look better.
For sparty. Conference needs victories. Doesn't matter much because the media will find a way to spin it to show the decline of the Big Ten. Yep. I'm a little jaded.
How about ND wins a close one, but Sparty beats them up real good and they limp into the next week. That's a win/win scenario. I really don't care who wins to be quite honest, but I always want the B10 to do well.
I don't even have to think about it. I want MSU to lose. I know it's been said over and over again, but MSU fans do not know how to win graciously. With every new win, they remove themselves further from reality and into a land where all teams cower before a Spartan armored Dantonio, all recent B1G and National Championships should belong in East Lansing, and all logic and reasonable understanding of the game of football is thrown out the window.
The thing is, I didn't used to feel this way. I remember when at one point, MSU football and basketball fans (despite the occasional riot and couch burning) were only mildly annoying and overall, not so bad. Heck, I even liked to see MSU do good every once in awhile. Somewhere along the way, the fanbase as whole just snapped and turned into OSU fan wannabes without the football knowledge. So as it stands, at the hands of any and all opponents, I wish upon Sparty a complete and utter crumbling of their sports world until they are beaten into submission and finally understand humility again.
And now that I'm done with my quite dark and anger driven rambling, I'd also like MSU to lose because I'd rather see U of M to go up against an undefeated Irish. Not only does it provide a bigger rankings boost for U of M if we're victorious, but a rivalry game is always so much better when an unblemished record is on the line.
A game where they both look like garbage and come away concerned, but I guess with ND winning, just because I don't care to have MSU in the top 10.
Root for neither.
Beat them both.
That is all.
For reasons mentioned, it helps Michigan when it's division opponents lose. For this reason I will want osu to beat msu as well. So I want nd to win
because I can't freaking stand MSU players, fans, and coaches.
Is there any remote possibility in which this game can be played, and both teams lose?
Flood, Zombie attacks, Black plague. No peticular order.
/jk, I don't condone injury or death on opponents (for trolls sake)
You're ok. Just avoid terrorist attacks. Terrorism will send you to Bolivian.
I hate everything about Notre Dame and would be perfectly content to see them lose every single game they play until the end of eternity (or until they finally lose their undeserved special treatment and join a conference, whichever comes first).
I could be mistaken, but I thought Frank Murphy was Catholic?
Root for whomever you want to win the game. Enough of this crap about rooting according to a formula that will potentially get your favorite team an extra thousandth of a point in the BCS. If the result is not direct or certain then there is no point in fretting over it. I plan on rooting against MSU because they are my least favorite team.
Being a fan is about having fun rooting for your team. It is not a math exam.
who one roots for is involuntary; the heart wants what the heart wants. applicability to this situation: i hate both teams and can make an intellectual argument about who i want to win so it benefits michigan, but until the kickoff and something happens i just don't know who i will want to win. i remember telling myself that i want sparty to win, but then feeling good watching the beat down in SB last year. then other years it made me feel good to see charlie weiss lose to dantonio. we will get to see one of them lose however so it is a win win- watching one of them lose feels good better than watching one of them win feels bad. read it again - that totally makes sense.
Think about it this way:
If MSU beats ND, a very real possibility, they could very well be undefeated by the time October 20 rolls around They'll be ranked in at least the top 8 by then, possibly higher. They will come to Ann Arbor smelling roses and even a BCS Championship berth (it's already started).
If we can somehow manage to beat both ND and Purdue on the road, we will climb higher in the rankings. We will have one loss, but will likely be somewhere in the top 15. When was the last time both teams were ranked in the top 15 for their annual matchup? I think you have to go back to 2003. If the above scenario playes out, it could make for one of the more exciting games we've seen. The chance at beating them, as underdogs, in Ann Arbor would be hard to pass up, but awful if we lose.
I'll probably be rooting for the Spartans.
Show this ^^^ guy some love. This is the best post in the thread!
I'll see your dog dressed in human clothes and raise you a cat with a lime on its head.
Usually, like most of us, I pull for the b10 in just about every non-conference game, thinking a win will somehow inch the conference closer to national respectability. I'm so sick of hearing repeatedly the pro-sec media talking heads continually slap us around. That being said, I'm finished. Until the b10 can break through with consisently win bcs games and big time non-conference games, it simply isn't going to change the perception the conference has. So I don't care how the conference is potrayed anymore, or the media constantly blasting it. I only care about big blue and our pursuit of a title and Pasadena. So to hell with Sparty and there tremendous tool of a coach and idiotic fanbase. Go Irish, just for this week, put Sparty in there place, and drop a duece all over East Lansing and there ridiculous followers
With the B1G looking like a steaming pile of shit, I'll go for MSU in this one. Even if it goes against everything I believe in. We'll have our chance to take them out later in the season.
I hate how overrated ND is year in and year out. But after their recent string of mediocrity and their fans posting things like "I don't ever think we'll beat Michigan in my lifetime again", they have become a much more tolerable fan base. MSU has the most annoying fanbase to ever walk this planet, so fuck 'em.
I've accepted that the B1G is crap as of now. So I'm not going to even worry about the B1G's appearance right now and that a MSU win looks good for the B1G, all I care about is us winning the B1G. So I'm going to be rooting for the team I hate less, ND.
Also, it'll be fun beating ND again this year, especially after they've beaten MSU and have even more unwarranted hype than usual. And on the off cance they beat us, oh well, after the past 3 years I can deal with 1 loss to ND.
Rooting for the Irish!
I hate to say it, well since both teams can't lose, Go ND..
/said that already
Of course! This way when we beat them we will be stronger in the polls! Duh
With how cocky Sparty is getting it would be so great to have them to be undeated when we beat them. It would make licking the tears of unfathomable sadness from Sparty's face that much more enjoyable.
I'm pulling for ND. They're like OSU, I dislike them, but I at least have a level of respect for the tradition and history of the program as well as the rivaly they have with Michigan. I have no respect for MSU. I have lived in the Lansing area for a decade and their fans* are far and away the worst.
*State does have some decent fans but it's a matter of the 98% that are d-bags making the rest look bad.
I'm rooting for someone (outside of MGoBlog) to realize that Tom Gholson isn't actually that good. ESPNU just talked about Gholston being MSU's impact guy. He hasn't done anything this year. He only has 2 unassisted tackles on the year and they've played a retooled Boise and Central. Max Bullough is way better and he seems to get no credit
That way I don't have to listen to spartan fans saying that they are going to the national championship.
I am rotting for Herpes
maybe you should have your doctor look at that, then.
a good game and schadenfraude from one.
I can't stand either program but im rooting for ND after Sparty started talking smack about Denard against bama and Shane Morris on twitter. Plus I feel like there ranked way to high in the polls they haven't faced anyone (Boise lost Moore and McClellin amongst others over the last two years to the draft and arnt as good as they once where) top that off with a terrible QB and all u have to do is put 8 in the box and stop bell which I think manti teo will have his way this week
I want MSU to win now, because of the Big 10 thing. But once the game gets kicked off, i find myself rooting against Sparty. I guess i just hate them that much.
I think ND will win in a close one. 26-24.
Dude, the big ten thing? The big ten doesn't need state to beat ND. They need Wisconsin not to lose to oregan state.
want them to lose. But a complete clusterfork of a game, with tons of penalties and miscues on both sides is the most important thing.
Rooted for them last year, will do again this year. I hate ND, but dont' HATE them.
We must always route against state because they are in our division and things could come down to overall record. I didn't even read other posts but I'm sure they said the same thing. Not to mention one team has been better than the other. Always route for the underdog. Always route for the shitbag.
How can you call MSU little brother and then pull for them to lose. Anyone who does must come from a fucked up family. MSU all the way.
Have to root for the Irish. My dad, who taught me to love the Wolverines, always pushed rooting for the other Michigan team when they weren't playing us, so I tried. After last years disgusting display including the attempted neck breaking on Denard, my 80 year old dad rescinded his advice and vowed to never root for State again. I doubt I ever will again either.
Toughie. I mean, I agree above the any MSU loss helps in the division but would like to see ND taken down a peg before next week. Also, with the attention this game is and will be getting if you have any conference pride it would be nice to see some decent B1G showing in front of a big crowd. Whether we like it or not they are kind holding the flag right now so I've gotta give MSU the edge in supporting.
Think of it this way, let MSU go undefeated until they come into AA. Would make the attention for that game and a UM win even bigger, right?
for a 0 - 0 quadruple overtime tie in which they eventually give up because nobody cares - they both suck
or perhaps an earthquake
Hve to root for MSU. an irish win might energize them for the nig game next week and it makes the big ten look even more pathetic. Bell and the rest of the offensive line end the game with season ending surgery. that would also b nice
at the Vet school and a herd of zombie cows rampages through Spartan Stadium doing whatever zombie cows end up doing ... but given that cows kill more people than sharks every year, i assume it will be terrifying and potentially gruesome.
At first you hope it is a Ford Ranger, but on closer inspection you reailize in horror that it is in fact a F-350 Powestroke Turbo Diesel.
It would also mke the worst version of one of those "Haulin' Ass" posters
Can't bring myself to root for MSU, plus I like what I have seen from ND so far
I root for numerous mistakes, confidence shattering failures, dropped passes, missed blocks, missed tackles, broken coverages, dropped snaps, lots of penalties.
In other words, someone has to win, but I don't want them to get any confidence from it.
Will there be couch burnings? I was led to believe there would be couch burnings.
This one is easy for me. I'm outside of the state so sparty doesn't annoy me. Why? Beacuse let's face it, no one has heard of MSU outside of Michigan. Go Sparty beat ND.
Root for a close game that causes both teams to dig deep into their playbooks, both on offense and defense -- a game rich in useful film for the Michigan coaches.
Root for them both to lose.
For most of my lifetime Sparty have been the lesser between the two programs, both in terms of on the field potency and general fanbase intolerability. Even if things have changed recently, it's still more fun watching ND lose than any other team in the country, Ohio included.
Sparty needs to shut up
I always root for the Spartans with the exception of when they're playing us.
All my Spartan friends are reasonably intelligent and rational people who don't hate on UM. Hard to believe, I know, but there are Spartans that love their school and don't hate UM because they couldn't get in.
Anyways, screw ND and Go Spartans!
