ND Schadenfreude

Yes, I am a poor loser. But, to Hell with Notre Dame. Gonna have some Cheerios now in a bowl of Domer tears!

I don't know about that.  Have you looked at UNC's schedule? Literally comprised of 2 FCS schools, a loss to a horrible South Carolina team, and not sure anybody else even had a winning record.

B10 was the best conference this year and the B10 East was the best division.  If any conference could get 2 teams in, it would be the B10.

And don't think for one second if this was the SEC we were talking about, the media wouldn't be going balls out to get 2 in.

I think UNC will rise to 8 or 9 this week.  They have been putting up boatloads of points most weeks.

Then a win over Clemson has them get a real chance at #4

OSU will be idle, Iowa/MSU loser falls out, and Stanford is the other team ahead of them

Its not so linear as "beat so and so" team as well.  Comittee is different than that - more nuanced.  If Clemson loses 17-16 thats one thing.  If NC wins 34-17 thats quite another.  Committee has questions about NC due to quality of competition but now they would play country's #1 team and spanking them by say 10 or more would make them legit to committee IMO based on how muc they are spanking everyone else they play.

Just like if OSU had beaten Wisconsin 24-17 it is different than 52-0 or whatever.  UNC has to win impressive but it can be done.  I am not saying they will win, just saying a Clemson loss opens the door wide open for UNC.

Is UNC that different than Iowa at this point?  Iowa won on a miracle FG to beat Pitt (56 yds) so thats thee diff btw the 2 teams.  Now go and beat country's #1 and people take a lot closer look at the resume.  UNC lost in game 1 - same as Stanford to NW and Stanford at one point was like #6.

in the worst case scemario playoff thread. pre-season polling could keep them out with a win. If they started in the top-10 they'd definitely have an ACC play-in game going on.

We compete with ND for the "Winningest Program of All Time" title.

We lead in total number of wins (but we've played longer), they lead in the more accurate winning percentage (which we used to lead until Hoke imploded).

It is a big deal.  It's painted on the side of our equipment trucks.

Every ND loss is a big deal, and a good thing for us.

Yeah, it would have been too much for me to live in a universe that would allow OSU, MSU and Notre Dame to all be in the CFP at the same time. This reaffirms my faith in a not-completely-evil God...

Honestly, OSU would be the least painful, because they were supposed to be in the game. But it will probably be just MSU after they beat Iowa, and no OSU. And that is OK, because they will probably have to face Alabama, who will give them the Ed Norton curb stomp treatment

We just lost by a billion.

We can be happy, I'm happy, but these threads are fucking stupid.

They're still going to be ranked higher, we just got blown out by our rival...at home.

Just celebrate with the rest of us in the open thread.
