I got curious about the rivalry and looked it up on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michigan_%E2%80%93_Notre_Dame_rivalry). This is what I found: Sinced the dawn of time: - Michigan Leads the rivalry 20-15-1 - @Michigan Michigan leads 11-8 - @ND ND leads 8-7-1 Since 1978 (when we started playing on a regular basis): - ND Leads the rivalry 13-11-1 - @Michigan Michigan leads 7-5 - @ND ND leads 8-4-1 ND has never scored more than 36 points in a win. So if we score 37, historically, we would win. ND has never scored more than 24 in a loss. So if they score 25, lookout. Michigan has never scored more than 47 in a win(2006!). So if they score 48, we are screwed (I know, right?). Michigan has never scored more than 27 in a loss. So if we score 28, lookout Irish. So our goal has to be 37-24. ND's smallest margin of victory is 2 points. So if it is 16-14 Michigan with 2 seconds left and ND is kicking a field goal, get ready to scream as Death Roh flies gloriously over the line to deflect the ball back into the face of the kicker. Michigan's smallest margin of victory is 1 point. So if it is 16-14 ND's lead with 2 seconds left and we are kicking a field goal, get ready to scream as "Here's the snap...Olesausage gets it off...It's on it's WAY...IT'S GOOD! MICHIGAN WINS!" GO BLUE
