ND loses commitment from Ronald Darby

Submitted by Knappster on

4/5 star Corner.  Looks like he's going to visit Clemson and maybe LSU.

Not sure if this means anything with Yuri, but Darby is very talented and this is good news for us UM fans.

You not knowing the man at all, and solely forming an opinion based off a sideline outburst.  I scream and get pissed off when I have a shitty day at the golf course, just so happens there aren't TV cameras pointed right at my face.

We have no idea what Kelly is like in the locker room, or in practice.  I know Te'o came back, why would he come back if he detested the coach?  Why hasn't there been any attrition the last 2 years?  Wouldn't Weis's players be leaving if Kelly was such an asshole to them?

Kelly does SEEM like a jerk, but the fact is I've never met the man, so I have no idea what he's like.

at the contrast between his skin color and that of the horrified on-looker staring at him.  Kelly's skin is actually red, not like a red tint, but from his neck up, the color of tomato.  That is great stuff.

This is rivals.......Darby will now focus on Clemson, Florida State, Auburn and LSU, with the Tigers a potential offer following the BCS championship game on Tuesday.

I wouldn't say we need this kid.  But I definitely want him.  He was one of the most impressive guys in the All Star games and his speed seems unmatched in this class.

Doubt we have a chance.  Seems like he know's where he wants to go and has for awhile.  Wonder how ND let him slip away.

1) First rate eduction: Sure, but is it better than Stanford, Michigan, UNC, Cal, Texas, Georgia Tech...? Maybe, but they are all in basically the same league.

2) Guaranteed to be on TV every Saturday: With ESPN, ESPN2, CBS, VS, ESNPU, BTN, Thursday night games, Wed night games... almost every big time program is on TV, especially in the sports package. This isn't 15 years ago. With the BTN, you can even watch Indiana play every week, if you actually wanted to.

3) Which Kelly players are in the NFL and doing well? What about ND? They have a solid amount of NFL players, but who is good? Who is a Pro Bowler?

Addressing these comments about Wright I don't even want him anymore it has been thrown around on this board that he projects at safety now and I couldn't agree more.

I'm starting to think that if a kid is going to go to a big time school that's not us I'd rather it be ND or Clemson.  At least you know they'll underachieve no matter how much talent they have and the lost recruit won't come back to bite us.

YES.  Oh my god yes.  This just made my day.  My hatred of Notre Dame is legendary.  I could not be happier to hear this.  Why, God, why would you let a school that mediocre at football in the last 20 years be able to recruit so well?  This seems like justice.  God I hate Notre Dame.

It's my birthday tomorrow, this must be a sign.

Weren't we still talking to a current Tenn commit that is a DB? I cant remember his name but I swear I had read it on here during the Free Arnett days.

I was on the Yuri Wright bandwagon for a long time until I saw him play in the Army game. I know it is one game and I shouldnt put much stock in it, but he looked horrible. Also, Sam Webb has been saying for weeks now that Reeves is the better prospect. Wright has great size and speed, but has only been playing ball for a few years. I know he has a lot of upside and potential once D1 coaches get a hold of him, but I am now switching to the Armani Reeves bandwagon. I think Wright will end up at ND, and that means we need Armani bad. I think the hiring of Bill O'brien might have helped us out. Im anxious to see who is going to be the DC for PSU. Hopefully Hoke put on his wizard hat, bc we need another elite DB.

Kind of not surprised - he's a mid-atlantic guy and those southern schools are closer to home and offer some semblance of defensive consistency.

Still expect Reeves to go Blue, but this probably puts Yuri on the fast track to the Golden Dome.

as long as he doesn't commit to msu or ohio, i guess this is good news. but yeah, looks like our chances with yuri got smaller with this. oh well, here's to getting reeves.

This so smells of Tuitt and Lynch.  Don't worry Bob Diaco is waiting in his driveway to have a discussion with the boy before the dead period.  ND is still in it.

I think that the Don Bosco to ND connection might be explained (at least partially) by the fact that Don Bosco is a Catholic school as well.  After reading the New Yorker piece about Don Bosco, I can see why going from one Catholic school program to another can be appealing if a player comes of age in such an environment.  Heck, I'd agree with the statement that the ND name means a lot in Catholic circles (e.g. Kyle Rudolph out of Cincinnati Elder, a Catholic School Program along with Andrew Hendrix out of Cincinnati Moeller, the same program as Monty Madaris).

I would say the Catholic School connection could be legit.  I live in Nashville and the private Catholic School here is named the Irish and their fight song is the ND fight song.  And most people that I run into from that school love ND.  I, however, as a Catholic, despise notre dame.  Just because they are a Catholic school doesn't mean I will like them.  I bleed Maize and Blue.  Although I can see how a recruit would naturally at least consider notre dame.  They'll always get good recruits but until they get a coach that can do something with that talent they will always be mediocre.  A  successful notre dame recruiting class doesn't scare me one bit.
