I thought Kelly was the coach?? Honestly I think all this is a complete waste of time. I wonder if these guys just make it up or they actually have sources. They feel the pressure to put something out everyday, it is so ridiculous. It makes you wonder.

Harbaugh has twice upset Southern California, one of Notre Dame's biggest rivals, and would probably like to stick it to Michigan, his alma mater, as well.
I would file this under pure speculation.

hiring the guy who beat your rival sure worked out well for OSU with Cooper, didn't it? If ND hires him he'll end up the second coach they poached from Stanford who gets fired a few years later.

you can guarantee he would NEVER coach at Michigan. Kelly openly denied taking the job this morning on the radio, but that's what he's supposed to do. Saban did it at Miami just before he left, Petrino did it before leaving the Falcons and Rodriguez did it before leaving WVU. They have to lie to keep recruits and keep the fan base sane. Unfortunately football coaches lie about the next job they are after. This also means that Meyer and Stoops might be lying also. So I guess this theory is a load of crap. Except they do lie. My money is on Kelly.

there was a quote from his dad that brian posted a couple days back saying that "jimmy" still loves michigan. i think he is a smart enough man to see whats going on with the program, and also realizes that another bad year in ann arbor and he would probably be the first choice as the headcoach. i dont think harbaugh goes anywhere unless its 1) here or 2) established that rr will be here for a long, long time.

While in an ideal world Harbaugh might wish to come back and be Bo the Second, I would be amazed if an ambitious young coach would turn down a massive multi-million dollar contract with a program like Notre Dame just for the chance to come back to the U.

Harbaugh to ND would be a horrible shitshow from day one. Domers are still fuming from Weis talking about his x's and o's ability from 5 years ago. Weis was the most buttoned down person on earth compared to Harbaugh. Domers would never put up with his mouth or his style. I absolutely cannot see it.

Plus, he has a mountain of potential, but when you have a program thats taken enough long-term image hits as ND, another busted coach would make a serious impact into the slide into irrelevancy. I know here in Chicago people are already openly challenging how much coverage ND gets in the Chicago media when there are "winning" teams like Northwestern.

I can't say anything here but a friend of my family's is a Catholic priest in South Bend and has heard the confessions of all the ND administration about who they secretly lust over to be their next head coach. I can't post it here for obvious reasons but if you post your email address I will send the actual 3 names.

I posted in an earlier thread that you have the maturity of a fourth grader. Obviously, I was being far too generous. The difference between you and him that made me dislike your post and indifferent to his post is that he cited his source. I don't believe that it is credible, but at least the source is there for me to examine it by myself, rather than just wondering where the hell he was coming from.

Did I say anything about that thread? No I did not. I did not say anything negative on that thread either. In fact, I agreed that Kelly was probably going to go to Notre Dame. All I did was say that you are making an idiot out of yourself by having a tantrum on the board. And honestly, how am I wrong?

for ND to hire him: beating USC. he may be a good coach but to have him pushed to the top while not having a track record South Bend is looking for (they can't take another risk on an up-and-comer), it has to be the 2 out of the past 3 years stat.

Personally, I hope that Harbaugh takes the ND job, because it would accomplish two things: (1) No more postings on who ND's coach would be (no offense intended to the OP), and (2) it would shut up the OH MAN I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL HARBAUGH AS OUR NEXT COACH - IT WILL BE SO AWESOME BECAUSE HE HAS ACCOMPLISHED SO MUCH crowd.

would be a nightmare he has exceeded everywhere he has gone and he is a fenomenal coach. I always root for him unless he plays Michigan and going to ND would ruin that.
