I am not and will not call this the 2nd round until the field is expanded until at least 80 teams.
The NCAA Tournament should never be more than 68 teams as it is right now. It is already getting pretty watered down with the four extra teams this year. Sadly, it is all about the almighty dollar in the NCAA's eyes so it will probably expand again soon.
Yeah, I'm OK with the extra four, because they're almost like an extension of conference tournaments than they are an addition to the real tourney. To me, the tourney starts today, and those games were just the last games to see who's in the field. It was nice to have competitive basketball on the last couple nights though.
it's kind of like an appetizer. I think choices made were poor, Colorado got hosed for example, but there have been some good games in the 'First Four'

Go Clemson and Old Dominion!
I took yesterday off with my boys to take them to the Houston Rodeo. Today, St. Patty's Day, I am at work watching TV. My inbox is flooded with project update requests for a new accounting package we are migrating too and since my direct superiors are in other states I say up theirs as I am going to make some popcorn.
I'm driving from Detroit to Chicago tomorrow and will be somewhere along that route for the game. I want to stop somewhere and catch the game...does anyone know of a good bar near 94 going that way?
I-94 W to Ann Arbor - Saline Road exit. North on Ann Arbor-Saline (turns into Main St) for about 2.5 miles. When passing Michigan Stadium blow kisses to Denard Robinson. After crossing William park across street from Conor O'Neils. Find seat at bar and order a pint of Old Speckled Hen and a shot of Jamesons. If you spot any Tennessee fans in the bar, tell them to "Get the F*#k off my court!" Enjoy self and watch Michigan win. Rejoice. Resume trip to Chicago.
Haha believe me that was my first choice, but with time constraints just not an option. I will be there in spirit. :)
Thanks!!!
I'm looking for streams online to watch any of the games over the course of this tournament. I don't have a tv, so any link will help (ESPN 3 doesn't help me). Thanks
Isn't there a town called Ann Arbor between Detroit and Chicago?
You're probably thinking of Kalamazoo.
Message to Butler and West Virginia: don't make me go emo on my bracket on day one plz, k thanks.
The FIRST and SECOND rounds are always the best. (F you NCAA, I refuse to acknowledge your insistence that 60 teams get a bye to the second round. That's not a bye.) Sixteen games a day? Yes please. And this year I don't have some stupid job thing harshing my mellow, so here I am in front of the TV with my laptop and a beer and I don't plan on moving all day.
Today and the next three days are the real March Madness. The rest of the tournament is interesting but nowhere near as wild. From the Sweet 16 on, there are only a few games per day and the favorites mostly advance.
Damnit Clemson, can you please resume playing like you did for the first 10 minutes of the game!
If my national championship pick gets knocked out in the second round again I am going to be pissed.
FAROKMANESH!!!! (shaking fist)
My Clemson pick looked brilliant for about 15 minutes. Now, it's more:
I'm starting to think that playing a game less than 24 hours ago is really taking its toll on Clemson right now....
Whoops, that game was on Tuesday but still
louisville is fucking up. they finally scored 7 minutes in.
Morehead...
you might say that they're giving louisville the shaft.
i just hope neither team gets blown out.
That Louisville just can't stop penetration.
"Morehead Makes Hardwood Shine"
We need a Morehead St. in this tournament!
Since I am the keeper of my office brackets if Lousville continues like this I am going to redo my #2 set of picks. k, shh.....
If I had enough points, I would have created a "Stuck at Work" Open Thread hours ago. It's St. Patrick's Day, the NCAA Opening Round started, and it's 70 and sunny. I feel like I'm the only a-hole at work, but I need to be in the office so I can get out of here tomorrow at Noon and watch Michigan. This place is a ghost town..
Louisville-this is not cute-quit it.
Stop throwing the ball anywhere near Dalton Pepper.
Sincerely,
Blue in South Bend
I hate you Clemson.
Clemson is killing my bracket already. I know you guys aren't very good, but WVU doesn't need the help.
That WVU guy sure picked an amazing time to get 3 steals... I don't know if I've ever seen such a clutch D performance like that.
EDIT: Dalton Pepper
wow what an end to the butler odu game. no more perfect bracket for me.
Irving playing for Duke in "limited minutes" in NCAA. Limited because you have two rounds to work with biiiaaatch.
That is all.
Damn it.
Ugly last five minutes too...reeked of mid-major basketball (or Big East, depending on how physical you like your game)
If you're a fan of Big 10 basketball you can't rip other conferences for being too physical. That doesn't make sense.
Morehead just keeps hanging around...
this is a dangerous time for the cards...
and my bracket.
I'm using the online CBSSports online gametracker on my phone but the silly thing keeps going back in time! There's 7 minutes left, there's 4 minutes left, there's 6 minutes left...oh wait, there's 2:21 left...come on Louiville, Morehead is on your a*&!
Holy shit Siva.
What a move to the basket and then the finish by Jennings.
What an ending! Great no call on that last shot btw.
The first upset of the tournament! Morehead State!
