NCAA Hockey Tournament Open Thread
The contact was far enough away from the net that the defenseman had a chance to stop himself and basically did. It wasn't one of those situations where the defenseman ran into the goalie by trucking the defenseman into him. Tough call, but I think they got it right
It was handled correctly. You make the right call whether it was called on the ice or not.
Well Bob MacKenzie has seen a lot of hockey and he agreed. You make the right call not the call from the ice.
That RIT-Minnesota State game was awesome and Miami getting torched by Providence in Providence isn't terribly surprising. Miami's always been a soft tournament team and they got a rough draw this year.

Now 6-3 Providence.
Not only may you be drunk, but you may be in the wrong thread!
At least you didn't OP this:
but there was a HUGE upset as #16 seed of lowly Atlantic Hockey #1 overall seed Minnesota State 2-1....
...which I figured out after googling 'ncaa hocky tournament upset'. Nice work RPI!
who is drunk now?
Miami made this a game. Pulled their goalie at 12:48 and have gotten 2 extra attacker goals now
6-4 with 5:30 to go
That's the hockey version of 'never punt'
6-5. Providence has collapsed.
Providence with the ENG.

Harvard (down 2-1 to UNO) is one of the stranger teams I can remeber. Ranked either 1 or 2 in the country at new years, absolute trash for two months running themselves all the way out of the tournament, go on a run and win the ECAC tournament.
Edit: Harvard took an idiotic offensive zone boarding with 2:30 left, so without a shortie, it's all but over.

This has been a great weekend. If people love the raw excitment and upsets of the basketball tourney, they should be all over the NCAA hockey tournament. And I think there would be even more casual college hockey fans if they tuned in and saw a loaded arena because teams were allowed to host regionals instead of a quarter filled arena where no home teams are playing. There have been two well-attended regionals - Providence and Fargo. There have been two awful regionals in attendance - Manchester and South Bend. Not a surprise considering two had a "home" team in their regional and the others didn't. Easy fix.

So proud of my alma mater, which has had another great appearance in the NCAA tournament. I was a freshman when RIT made the Frozen Four in 2010 and the atmosphere on campus and in Rochester was electric.
Hockey is the only Division I sport at RIT and in Rochester, so there is a strong following of current students and alumni. It was great watching the game today and hearing the band and Corner Crew.
I think Atlantic Hockey has been steadily improving over the years. It's not on par with the other conferences by any means, but the teams are becoming more competitive.
Such a great day of hockey. Wish they'd play the Frozen Four next weekend instead of having a week off in between. Play Friday and Sunday.
