NCAA Hockey Regional Open Thread - Why not?
NCAA Hockey Tournament is kicking off right now with the (4) Yale up 2-0 on (1) Minnesota. Not to jinx Yale, but I love to see Minnesota choke in the tournament every year. Happens a lot
Very strange to watch the tournament without any maize & blue. Sad to see them playing at Van Andel with our logo everywhere but we're no where to be found.
Also up today is:
(4) Wisconsin vs (1) Umass-Lowell - 4:30 (Manchester, NH)
(3) Niagara vs (2) North Dakota - 5:30 (Grand Rapids)
(2) New Hampshire vs (3) Denver - 8:00 (Manchester, NH)
I'll be interested to see if the CCHA can finally break through and get a national title this year. The conference has been on the cusp in recent years. The CCHA has been the runner up in 4 of the last 5 years (Ferris 2012, Michigan 2011, Miami 2009, Notre Dame 2008). GIven that the NCAA put the only 2 CCHA teams in the same regional, I'd say the chances are low
that's the strangest misspelling of Wisconsin I've ever seen,
Fuck Notre Dame! I could have been hanging out in GR today watching college hockey.
Watching this Minnesota-Yale game is reminding me of Michigan-Air Force 2009. Minnesota is clearly the more talented team but scoring chances aren't happening, pucks are bouncing over sticks, etc
makes it 2-1 with 11:48 to go in the game. Makes it a lot more interesting from here on out
Much more interesting now
Here at the NCAA West Regional hosted by the University of Michigan!
Sucks that Michigan isn't here because this place would be PACKED! There is hardly anyone here. Would've been a home game.
Great sense of pride though seeing the block Ms on the ice though.
Apparently I'm the only one interested in the regionals at the moment
This is eerily similar to Michigan's game against cornell last year.
Michigan was one seed playing a 4 seed ECAC team. Score was 2-2 and went into OT. Michigan had to tie it late.
Did the refs wave off an obvious 2nd goal a few minutes in that swung the momentum hugely and changed the entire freaking game from a blowout to a shit loss?
Fuck the #gongshow.
Too lazy to start a new thread about it but Dan DeKeyser chose Detroit
Good for Wings fans
Big signing, good for the Wings. It would have hurt if the hometown kid had gone somewhere else. I wonder how much he'll play in Grand Rapids, or if Kenny promised him a lot of NHL time in order to get him to sign.

Playoff hockey is much less terrifying when I have nothing invested. I'm actually excited to see this OT period. All hail Plinko!
Three of the four games are on ESPNU for anyone who's interested and has it. Also on ESPN3.
I'm finding it hard to get excited about these games when Michigan isn't in it. It usually takes me a round or two of the NHL playoffs to start watching again after the Wings are eliminated.
Yale scores 8 seconds into OT. I actually missed the goal. Ho-ly crap.
(4) Yale beats (1) Minnesota. 3-2 in OT
Fastest NCAA OT ever
SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
WHAT A WIN BY YALE!! EAT THAT GOOFS!
hahahahahahaha good job, gophers. Maybe the WCHA circlejerk will stop.
The WCHA circlejerk will never stop as long as there are internet connections in North Dakota
We got robbed against Miami and did not get the chance to play at Ford Field.
ha suck that goofers.
wisconsin down 3-0 to UMass-Lowell.
Goodbye WCHA.
