NCAA Hate/Friday Drinking/Banging Thread

Mitch to the NBA, Lindsay to OSU, and other dangerous nouns as well.

In lieu of the usual posbang thread, what is everyone drinking?

Although, if you wish to lighten the mood with a posbang, I'm sure nobody would mind.  I don't really care if you choose to bang or drink, or maybe even both at this point in time.

In honor of NCAA sticking by their enforcement principles, one random guy who got his post negged today will be banned from the mgoboard for 1 year.

Remember when 2014 was awesome.

If the rest of the year continues on this downward progression.....I don't even have words to express what it will be like.

Sometimes being a fan of Michigan, is like being a fan of being beaten with a bag of diseased cocks.

know, it just did not make sense for him to come back anyway.  I wanted it to make sense, I tried to convince myself that it made sense, but a 22 year old coming off a back injury.  If his back does not hold up next year he likely would not get drafted at all.  Yeah, in a perfect world he came back and lead us to the national championship looking sturdy as ever, but it would just have been too much of a risk for him.  It really never made sense and I think this was just the catalyst for a decision he would have been foolish not to make.

The real question is, HORFORD WTF?  If starting center and 30 minutes a game is what you were after well you got it right there in Ann Arbor.  Why you out bro?

So let me get this straight. Getting paid, posting pictures of all your cash on social media, and driving around in pimped out cars despite coming from a poor neighborhood is all fine according to the NCAA and not even worth looking further into.

Enjoy a single marijuana to try to deal with back pain and you're done for a year.

To be clear, I don't believe any of those are wrong. What's wrong is the NCAA having rules against these things that it doesn't enforce equitably. Laquon Treadwell ought to get paid to play college football, and Terrelle Pryor deserves a nice vehicle, because what they do has high value--what's bullshit is that the NCAA promises punishment to anyone who does so in the name of preventing big-money schools from having an competitive advantage, and turns a blind eye to Ohio State and Ole Miss obviously subverting the rule to gain a competitive advantage.

A kid from a poor background, who stays away from drugs and gangs, and stays in school, and jumps through a million hoops to meet NCAA academic standards, and all the while hones himself into a nationally elite athlete, well that kid ABSOLUTELY deserves to be renumerated once people are paying $150/ticket to watch him perform, and the renumeration should be at market value as established by collective bargaining by professional representatives on his behalf. That's how capitalist economies work.

The NCAA is like a corrupt and inept government: they make a communist rule to maximize their own profits, and don't enforce it because it can't be enforced, and the result is criminal behavior is reinforced and good behavior punished.

Oh, I agree for sure. I have nothing against a kid overcoming adversity and making it big with money and cars and all of that good stuff. I just don't like the NCAA only enforcing what it wants to/can easily. Monetary shenannigans can provide an on the court benefit via recruiting and what not. A guy who didn't even play smoking some weed, not so much. Yet look which gets punished.

I just want things enforced if they're rules.
