I thought it was planned for November. It's most likely a non-issue. We accepted responsibility for four of the violations and are appealing the fifth, and proposed some minor sanctions. The NCAA will probably accept the appeal, but if not, they'll just add some tiny additional sanction.

wondering about this also. Normally I woudn't worry that much as the violations were not something that big. However, since the investigation the NCAA has said they are getting tough with violators and hammered USC. To me this makes any of the "this is what they did in the past" arguments invalid. I am expecting something harsher than history would suggest.

I really don't think they had us in mind when they said that. Anyway, we have already self-imposed some sanctions. The main issue is just whether we'll win our appeal about the fifth violation (which we believe we did not commit).

Basically, there is no way of knowing when they’ll be done until, you know, they are done.
As I understand it, the report goes through many painful drafts: every member of the committee needs to sign off on every word and comma, before it is released.

I heard on Karsh and Anderson (the only time I listen to 97.1) that it would be 8-10 weeks, and that we just got into the 8th week. So, from what they say... anytime now.

We'll take our medicine whatever it is. Wait till they drop the hammer on an SEC power that won't tolerate sanctions. Countdown begins to a football governing body put together by the big conferences with it's own rules and hopefully some ways to share money with these players.
The NCAA is a dinosaur as it pertains to football at the highest level. The schools are too big and powerful for what is now a semi-pro league. Tradtional amateur rules aren't applicable.

Nick Saban can take five recruiting classes every 4 years. Talk about allowing one member institution to have a distinctive advantage over everyone else. So far this year 19, 29 in 2010, 28 in 2009, and 32 in 2008. 4 year total if no more this year is 108. Add in 2007 (24) and take away 2011 and the 4 year total is 113. 2006 27 LOIs giving them 111 for 06-09. As everyone knows the four year limit is 85 so the least Bama has gone over is this last four year cycle (if they take no more recruits) at 23 over.

It's like dreads flashed before my eyes and now I have only a faint memory of this "investigation" and supposed "violations."
I guess that and practice time is peanuts compared to what everyone in the SEC got accused of.
