NCAA Elite 8 Open Thread

First game not exciting, but one joker has Louisville in the Final Four, so go Florida. Then the pain of needing OSU to win for the pool, but lose for my sanity.

Doesn't look good. I mean, physically. His weave has been neglected a little, he's all gaunt and haggard. Guess that's what being extorted will do to ya.

Does anyone else find this to be a boring Elite 8?  Aside from OSU, it's hard for me to feel strongly about any of these teams.  I probably could make a case for rooting for Kansas or against Syracuse, but all in all, I just find this group boring.

Florida, Syracuse, Kentucky, North Carolina.  If my teams win today, it will be huge.  Virtually nobody in my pool has either FL or Syracuse.

I have Louisville, OSU, Kentucky, and N.C.

good pick on Florida, to pick them over potentially kansas, marquette, and louisville or state is a good call by you.

as a Georgetown and Michigan fan, I am really hoping a bomb goes off tonight while Syracuse and OSU are playing. With the MSU and Villanova teams in the stands.

had come to Michigan instead of going to Louisville.  He was seriously considering it I know, but instead we got Amaker and the rest is history as they say.  But I believe our BB program would be at a higher level today if Pitino had taken the job here regardless of what you may think about him personally.  The guy can definitely recruit and coach.

He's been to two Final Fours since taking over there....and we haven't gotten out of the first weekend. And he'd be recruiting against Michigan State instead of KENTUCKY. He might have done better here too. Martina's hits vs. misses at hiring coaches wasn't a great percentage. All I know is, Kentucky win or lose tomorrow, it's going to make for some talk in the bluegrass state.

in NCAA tourney.  It's only one game sample but they were lower seed against #2 seed Duke and Blake Griffin's OU.  They were one shot from tying the game against Duke and the refs hosed Michigan with phantom foul calls when they are near Blake Griffin.

Not fair to say that JB can't lead Michigan deep into NCAA tourney.  He has made it to Sweet 16 and Elite 8 with a less talented WVU teams.  JB's landing quality players like McGary, Robinson, Stauskas.  Sky the limit with JB's team.  I firmly believe that Michigan will really take off.  This year is just the beginning with a share of B1G title on a bunch of overachievers like Novak and Douglass who had zero D1 offers(technically Stu has one with Valpo but Valpo pulled the offer)..

The 6 years of no Tourney at all we had before Beilein to here. (More, actually, but it was when Amaker was hired that Pitino was snatched from us by Lousiville). What he was saying instead of being on year 5 we'd be on year 11 (and we weren't as much an afterthought of a program then with 7 more years of irrelevance to come). And Pitino would have had even more success than at Louisville because everyone in the world thought it was a better fit, except his wife (and that didn't work out too great for her). Being headed in the right direction isn't better than already being there.

Watching OSU and Syracuse with Amir Williams getting extended minutes, makes me wonder why Matta didn't use Williams to bang against MSU. Williams would be a good match-up against Payne and Nix, especially after watching Payne and Nix struggle against the Louisville Big.

I dont care if osu winning is good for the big ten. I want them to lose every game they play except when it helps Michigan. Such as the bball game in east lansing. Other than that, Fuck Ohio!

I am never glad when Ohio wins in anything. The lesser of two evils won. I believe Kentucky will beat Ohio in the final. Sullinger wont do much against Davis and Craft will not be able to mug Kentucky's bigger guards.

They still have to beat two good teams to get to the finals...  (I have them losing to OSU)  but I would watch for louisville, they can play.
