NCAA Basketball Tournament - Nailing Down The Final Four (Open Thread)

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

Alright, folks, we've got half of the Final Four - we'll know the other half today. On CBS, we have:

2:20 PM - Michigan State vs. Louisville (line is MSU -2.5, I think)

5:05 PM - Duke vs. Gonzaga (line is Duke -2.0, last I saw)

My picks in the ESPN Bracket were Louisville and Duke, but I have MSU and Gonzaga in my yearly "chaos bracket" too.

The more I see all these other big time coaches whine and bitch at the refs, the more I kinda want Beilein to follow suit. It seems to work getting the refs to make 1 or 2 more calls in a team's favor...

Then again it's nice having a calm coach that rarely blows up.

I really appreciate his composure in a sport where grandstanding by coaces has become commonplace. On the rare occasion Beilein has lost it (by Beilein standards) absolutely everyone takes notice and everyone knows his team is getting royally screwed.

Louisville really seemed to dominate the 2nd part of the half. Will be interesting to see what happens in crunch time when the calls start shifting to Izzo to get him to the final four.

Late to the party here, but Harrell is really solid. Super athletic, high energy, seems to consistently be able to hit midrange jumpers, and a really good passer to boot.

How does no one shove something in Travis Trice's mom's mouth when she's shrieking like Al-Queda during a free throw? How would she feel if another parent did that when her son was shooting? What a rude bitch.

Which allows them to slow games down and use brawn to match up with almost anyone. MSU can also shoot it great from outside and has two great guards. They're overall athleticism and ability to run is what sets them apart in this tourney.

And return Levert...Irvin...Walton...MAAR. ..Wilson and Dawkins...we will have the same type of athleticism. Add Doyle as a thumper in the paint and the savvy of Spike and you've got yourself a well balanced ball club. That roster can and will make a deep run next year.

is critical. DJ will add a little bulk in the offseason, but 2 6-9" sophs as the only real 5s puts a lot of pressure on the perimeter to play much better D. I am really surprised Beilein cannot land 1 guy to protect the rim, rebound and wear out the opposing center. The rest of the team has the potential to play with anyone.

This run for MSU is absolutely perfect for them thus far - nobody they've faced is particularly great offensively, and they are extremely good at grinding down teams on defense.  the ticky-tack fouling on Louisville is also killing them, but that's life in the conference with Izzo as a coach, I guess.

I don't know why I hate them this much, but this team in particular is just the most unlikable around.

announcer logic: msu playing with urgency, like they want it...2 minutes later...msu looks rattled, it's danger time
