NCAA Basketball Thread (Michigan State Vs Ohio State)

Tip off in 10 minutes on ESPN, from East Lansing. This should be a good one and a glimpse into what these teams are really about ("Big 10 play" and all that).

Meanwhile, one of our early season defeats is running the #7 team in the country, Baylor, out of the gym in Hilton Coliseum.

Who ya got, Sparty or the Buckeyes? I'll take Sparty by 11 @ home, I think Ohio may not be as great/good as their record shows.

I agree about Sparty tonight. Ohio St has played a weak schedule so far and I think going on the road in EL is not the first true road test I would want my team to experience.

Well, by the numbers, it should be close - Massey only gives a slight edge to Michigan State with a 53% projected win probability. The median projected score would be 64-63. Per TeamRankings, Ohio State would be a 5.5 point underdog in this one.

Always silly to judge an NCAAM BB game after one half, but I'm too tired to stay up.

Both teams look beatable. Sparty's D looks good, but not vicious as it has in the past.  They actually look a little lethargic, despite being at home.  Harris is great, though, and Payne is clearly hobbled.  Ohio looks OK, but not in any way intimidating.  Look small and/or thin.

If MSU was healthy I think they would be wiping the floor with OSU right now. As good as a PG Craft is there isn't a lot around him.

How OSU doesn't run their O through Ross is beyond me. He's their biggest weapon as a scorer and rarely touches the ball.

Also...once again we see why both Coach B and Coach Izzo passed on Amir Williams. Hard to believe he was a top 50 kid in the country out of HS.

It's like I Spy

  • The mysterious guy reaching for the buckeye blimp's foot to the side of the screen
  • The spartan brah pointing
  • izzo looking like something from outer space with that face

Dakich showing he doesn't just rip Michigan (or has he had a change of heart?) by ripping OSU's non-conference schedule.

It's nice to see Michigan's schedule turning out to be a little more difficult than first glance.
