NCAA Basketball Championship Game Open Thread

So it's evil vs.....less evil? Annoying? Just blah? Two storied programs going at it, so it has that. Maybe a good game. Though Calipari would really have to Calipari it to not roll this Jayhawk team. Oh well, if Kentucky wins it'll probably be vacated before this thread ends. I suppose Kansas winning could flip some pool final results. Kentucky winning, not so much.

Don't salt their achievement because if we win a championship in a few years then people will start hating on us in the same fashion. Kentucky is simply on another level than us. Doesn't mean that they are dirty......we def can't talk about basketball dirt......

He's been, combined with a program that's spent more time on probation than off is why people call them dirty, as they acquire a minor league NBA team every year. No one would have said that about Kansas if they had won, and they have loads more talent than we do.

have the pedophile lead the boy scout troop at the nudist camp because, well, nothing has actually presented itself as fact that something's going wrong there, now.....and they're getting so many merit badges...track record be damned.

We COULD do the same thing. But we won't. Because it already happened once, and we're still trying to live down the shame of it.  Other places have no shame.

I meant the question I asked, in a legitimate way.  As in, who does everyone think is being paid or what is occuring in Lexington that will make this achievement all for nothing later on.  Anthony Davis being paid? Terrance Jones? Kidd-Gilchrist?  I personally don't have the feeling that any of them are "dirty".  I agree, on a level, with you that it's not fair to label them cheaters already as there is no proof of shenanigans going on.

But I also agree with M-Wolverine in that it's tough to cheer and believe in a coach who's had vacated wins everywhere he's been.  How does one come up with the faith to just assume that Kentucky is legit?  It's just tough to do and it sucks but he deserves and has in a way earned peoples "disbelief" and questioning of his coaching.

edit: And Calipari is in the post-game press-conference and is talking about teaching these kids more than basketball and yadda yadda yadda.  That is, for example, something I don't believe.  He can coach, but his track record in being a role model and being a great guy isn't that great.

Elite Talent wins titles. You must have elite athletes great coaching to win this tournament. There are a lot of good teams in the Ncaa but very few elite. It will be interesting to see if we can get to that elite level status in the coming years. Ohio seems to be the only team in the last few years from our region with the horses to ride on the big stages. We have to be much less "system" dependant to make it to the final four. I think this next crwlass will be a step in that direction.
