NCAA approves 3 more bowl games, now 42 bowls

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

65% of FBS teams will play in a bowl game.

Just let every team go to a bowl at this point.

The worst two in the nation can play in the Pine Bowl in Orono, Maine or at Barrow Stadium in Barrow, Alaska-

The NCAA approved three more bowl games.

One at Texas' DKR Memorial Stadium, Arizona Stadium in Tucson and the Citrus Bowl meaning there will be THREE bowl games at the Citrus Bowl.

...While money plays the decisive factor, in our culture we've coddled our kids and orchestrated events so that everyone's a "winner." Ergo, we need more events so more teams can be "winners."

Wonder if the day will come where we don't keep score, as well?

Sheesh.

There should be no more than a dozen bowl games, IMHO.

Does anyone really think that players on a 6-6 team view things as yes/no that they're winners because they're going to a bowl? This criticism of society is too simple and wrong. Ask a kid who gets a participation trophy if they feel like they a winner. More likely than not, they'll be confused by the question, reference their last game, or refer to the championship team in their league

Three more bowls for me to ignore.  OR... alternatively... get really excited about depending upon what the wife is asking me to do.

"Yes, sweetheart.  I absolutely have to catch the EKU v Kent game.  And after this UL-Monroe will be taking on Indiana State."

As long as minor teams with minimal fan bases aren't stuck shelling out money because they cannot reach their minimal ticket sales numbers and/or for team travel if the bowl doesn't provide enough money to get there.

Bowl games should not cost the schools, what do they think this is the CBI?

Hell I'd be tempted to turn it down if the school was going to lose money.  Unless you're that team that never goes to a bowl, then hey once in a lifetime chance for your players and recruiting bonus/exposure to scouts/national light.

I've always thought that the worst two teams should play in the "Toilet Bowl" sponsored by Two Thousand Flushes and the loser would be the winner.

The stadiums are almost completely empty at most of these bowl games already. The enjoyment factor of watching these bowl games is going way down as the competition level decreases. They might as well just let everyone play in a bowl at this point.

Matchups for the new bowls are as follows: Tucson (Mountain West versus Conference USA), Austin, Texas (American versus Sun Belt) and Orlando (American versus Sun Belt).

It's not even good conferences or teams...Can't wait for that Temple/UL-Monroe matchup. #THRILLING
