NCAA 14 Demo thoughts; MGoBlogger PSN/Gamertag list

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

The NCAA 14 demo has been released today. Xbox got it a few hours ago and it was just released moments ago on PSN and is now downloading for me.

Any thoughts from anyone who has played it?

Plus, let's create an official list of MGoBlogger gamertags and PSN IDs-

Downloaded it and playing UM / ohio.  I got my last NCAA game not last year, but the year before.  This is the same game.  The grass looks like 1970s astroturf.  Recruiting looks like it will be cooler.  Also, now the players all have random names?  UM QB Landry? (who just happens to be a fast black dude wearing #12).  The animations look exactly the same.  Play selection, the intro screen, the commentary is the same, the colors looks brighter / slightly better, graphics are the same, the fans look... worse than in NCAA '12?  Is this usual for a demo? I mean do they have all the kinks worked out yet?  So far I definitely will not be spending $60 for this.  I just want to play as Georgia Southern... speaking of which can you download user-created teams for free anywhere?

EDIT: This is freaking terrible.  Miller rolls out to the left and starts to sprint upfield.  An outside linebacker is directly vertical, maybe 15 yards downfield.  Maintain your zone and predict the scramble?  Hell naw, computer wants to make the lineback sprint into the middle of the field (where there are already 3 players within 5 yards) to cover some receiver.  Miller sprints 15 yards into the endzone without a M player within 5 yards.

EDIT 2: Gardner scrambles outside, two DBs charge in... receiver is trying to find someone to block 25 yards downfield.  Few plays later, M has the ball on the ohio 1... ohio comes out with THREE linemen.  RB walks in.

I think as annoying as the kangaroos on defense who can bat down a pass that's 15 feet above their head with blink-of-an-eye reaction speed is that the AI can never figure whom to block and when to come in for a tackle. These are things that were issues ten years ago. How hard can it be to fix?

I looked for it this morning around 8:15, but it wasn't listed. I wanted to download it while I was at work so it would be there when I get home. I know it's going to take a long time, which is why I wanted to do that. This is probably the last time I'm going to buy this game and that's really only because Denard is on the cover.

If your system has the feature turned on, your console downloads when it is off. I logged into my XBOX account on my work computer to confirm the download, but there is some error on their end. I selected "confirm" to download the demo, but it says something like, "This cannot be completed at this time. Please try again later."

I still play a lot of MW3 so if anyone wants to play that send me a message saying you're from MGoBlog so I know that you're not a random 14 year old kid.

Do you play Black Ops 2? I prefer the BO multiplayer over MW. I used to LOVE the MW multiplayer, but BO 2 is awesome. I haven't played the first BO online for a while, but that is really only because my disc cracked a while ago and I still have not replaced it.

Actually no, I didn't throw it. It's quite odd actually. The crack was so small and towards the center where the hole on the disc is. I didn't think it was big enough to not allow the disc to play, but it was. It must have cracked once when I took it out of the case. I will get a new one eventually when I see a used copy online for about $10.

I did not neg you, but....

BO 2 multiplayer f'ing sucks compared to BO, MW3, and MW2 (the four COD titles I have purchased).

So hard to get a match setup - resets way too often to find the right balance or whatever the fuck it is doing.  Very, very annoying.  I might just be getting tired of the series, though - as I thought MW2 and BO were much better than the sequels that followed them.

Xbox 360/PS3: freernnur5

Will probably be playing NCAA/BF3/The Last of Us when I have time till then next gen consoles come out.

Don't think I will do an online dynasty for NCAA as my time to be able to play will be scattered and I don't want to hold a dynasty up.

Actually BF3 is for 360 for me. I will be going PS4 next gen though so BF4 will be on that.

Also I hadn't played it in forever and just kinda picked it back up to shake the rust off before BF4 comes out and am loving it all over.

Edit: I am on the West Coast and my game time if I play is generally around 8-9/10 pm.

This comment seems so muc like "a/s/l", and it makes me feel very old and out of touch.

My last game purchase: Tiger Woods 07 for PS2. If I'm in the mood for a football game, NCAA 05 has lasted about 30 seasons (about 2 in the last three years). I'm getting old in that game and waiting for the coach to just retire so I can buy a new one already.

still actually works. I play Contra on it every couple of months for nostalgia's sake. In my life I owned these systems: NES; Sega Master System; Sega Genesis; Sega Saturn; N64; PS2; Wii; DS; & Xbox 360.  Of those, I still have the NES, PS2, Wii, DS, & 360 still working, I sold the rest of the systems or they broke years ago.  Xbox live gamertag: MikeCohodes (surprise surprise).

I still have my intellevision from when I was 5.  Still love horse racing!!  I wish NCAA and Madden would just revamp their whole engine and come with something new.  I love Fifa 12, and still play it a lot, but I hope the next gen games really up the ante.

For anyone that's playing Battlefield 3 or going to be playing Battlefield 4 later this year, I'm on most nights.  Hit me up on PSN or shoot me a message via Battlelog at "CooperLily21" and we can squad up, talk Michigan sports while we shoot enemies in the head.

Oh no, I grasp it fairly well, but I just prefer COD. BF is a good game, but I don't think it's as good as COD. For the record, I hate quick scoping and sprint around the map techniques you refer to. Quick scoping is unbelievably unrealistic and it ruins the game, which is why when I keep getting killed by a quick scoper, I exit the map and lobby. I hate those people.

EDIT: I like the killstreak rewards and perks you can add to different classes. BF doesn't have that stuff. Plus, when someone who is really great at flying helicopters or jets, it's just ridiculous. I got sick of constantly being killed by those vehicles, so I got bored with BF. I'm actually in the middle of playing the campaign again, only this time on the hardest difficulty simply because I want the achievement.

hit me up on XBL: Wolver1ne318

I am usually playing Halo 4.

Thoughts: I like the new running engine, especially trucking. It works great for bigger backs and tight ends. I literally just had Funchess gain 5 YAC to set up an OT winning 1 yard run.

I've been playing NCAA 12 and NHL 10 lately, and some NBA JAM a while back (highly recommend).  Anybody tried a more recent NHL game?  NHL 10 is still pretty good IMO
