well that's just, like, your opinion, man
NCAA 13 release tonight... Who is going out and picking it up at midnight?
I'll be there
i think I have the last three. Until they use the same gameplay engine as Madden I'm not going to purchase it again. It's asinine how much smoother Madden is to play.
While it may be a matter of preference I prefer NCAA over madden
that is what the Freshmen difficulty is for. Not to mention the various sliders that can be adjusted to make certain parts of the game easier or harder based on personal preference. Personally I like realism in sports games. This is why the only sports game I have been able to consistently enjoy the last several years is MLB The Show. It's basically the only sports game that comes anywhere close to it's real life counterpart.
As for NCAA, I am taking a wait and see aproach this year. I'm not going to get suckered in again this year, in terms of buying on release day. I'll wait for some honest opinions from people (not biased reviewers) before deciding. At least from what I have seen it doesn't look the gameplay additions are that sigfnficant, instead EA sports would rather focus on adding gimmick modes that I would never use.
I wish they'd make the game better instead of putting Desmond Howard on Ohio State
...though I may still buy the game. Why does EA get the only rights to NCAA football?
Because they got their ass handed to them by 2K when they put out NFL 2K5. One EA employee said "it scared the crap out of me it was so good".
So if they can't beat them, what do they do? Take the cowardly way out and buy the rights for NCAA & NFL.
by 2k were trash. Not that competition now, wouldn't be a good thing though.
The year the contract was offered to EA by the NFL was the year 2k put out their sports games for $30 dollars brand new. The NFL felt insulted that they would market their brand at such a low price point. So they approached EA and EA took it. I would rather have the competition as I think we all would but ultimately 2k shot themselves in the foot.
Preordered via Amazon and it will be on my doorstep tomorrow after work. No point in rushing to get it until the rosters are done, IMO. I am also OCD and edit equipment, ratings, sliders, etc. before I really get going into dynasty mode.
For a charge cheaper than regular shipping, and a $45 price tag. I'm past the point where having it 12 hours earlier is worth $15 plus tax.
Also I noticed if you buy from Amazon you get some of the pro combat uniforms (Oregon, little brother, etc.) for those that are into all the uniforms.
Im on my way! Go blue!
You don't need to go to a store with a midnight release party. Just head to a Walmart or Meijer and they stock the shelves with the game at midnight.
I didn't preorder but I used the season ticket from FIFA to play it for three days. As it stands, I like it and would pick it up except for one huge bug. The game keeps freezing when I am loading my week 5 game. I have seen multiple reports of this in my dynasty.
I know I can sim, but that doesn't remove the problem and any random week could freeze, thus killing a dynasty. If they fix this, then I will buy it, but as it stands I am not going to.
Not going to buy it this year. Sounds like the gameplay is going to be basically the same as last year. I already updated the rosters on NCAA 12 to be accurate for this year.
Demo showed me a few things they changed: receivers actually look back for the ball and are more acrobatic. Also, on slants they get upfield much quicker. There also is more time and protection in the pocket to let routes develop.
The Air Jordan LB's have been fixed.
The zone read is MUCH better as well. That was the biggest frustration for me the last couple years.
I seriously pray they fixed the LB issue..nothing more frustrating then the amount of tipped passes/interceptions in last years game. If they only fixed that one thing it would make me buy it again.
ALLEGEDLY Air Jordan LBs have been fixed. We've heard that before.
I'm buying the game, but I will never go at midnight to pick up a game.
I did it once in my life....and when I got to the store I saw dudes in their 30's wearing their jerseys and talking about getting 5 or 6 seasons in tonight.
I then put my head down in shame and vowed to never do it again.
Calling them tools and then admitting you waited in line at midnight for Halo 2 doesn't really work.
But you went on to play til noon you said. Isn't that just as bad as 5 seasons?
But you played from 12 to 12? What happened to the other 7 hours?
And it was probably a bit of hyperbole...you couldn't play 5 regular time full season in a day.
I played the game through until noon the next day
So while you may have meant that you played the game all the way through, playing till noon, it kinda looks like you said you played all the way through till noon.
Nothing wrong with midnight releases. I've done multiple Harry Potter books, COD games, Battlefield 3, Halo(s) etc. the best is taking the next day off so you can just stay up till 8AM and have the campaign finished before you knock off for a couple hours.
I still have my NCAA 2004 game for X-Box. I stopped buying them after that but I admire the upgrade in graphics over the years. It's nice that the team actually touches the banner now.
MGoBirthday is in two weeks and I've been getting the game since 1999 as a gift so I think I'll hold off.
In many years I actually am not going. I am usually chomping at the bit to go. I always have tonight circled on the calendar but this year is different for some reason. Actually forgot about it until I saw this thread.
Meh. Work tomorrow. Just go pick it up after work tomorrow :) No point waiting in line
This might also be the first year I get in on the fun, since 2006. I wonder what online play is like. I've always been curious to go up against Mgobloggers in online battle.
The only reason why I am considering getting this game is because of the improved catching motions and lack of jumping LBs. That and I think they fixed the play-action DOOOMMM thing. The tackling in 2012 is hella realistic, but the catching/interceptions/passbreakups were terrible. Straight up terrible.
So in short, adding better catching + new uniforms + glitch fixes = me buying it.
Not to drive traffic to another site, but the impressions at Operation Sports have ranged from okay to awful, specifically that the option offense still doesn't work, the safety play is atrocious and allows for anybody to throw for 500+ yards with deep balls, and the computer runs screen passes way too much and just get sacked over and over and over.
Combine that with the lack of new features (minus the despicable Heisman Mode, which is so stupid it created its own black hole of idiocy) and I might pass on the game for the first time in years.
No. It just sucks.
I think he was talking about the "LOOK, DESMOND HOWARD IN AN OSU UNIFORM! GIVE US YOUR MONEY AGAIN!" game feature.
I'm officially boycotting EA football games this year until they actually change them for the better. NCAA games have the same glitches year after year, but at least you can play mascot games and shit like that. Dynasty Mode is the same thing and Campus Legend/RTG gets worse every year. I'll save $120 every year and skip out on their updated rosters and new covers. Oh, and both game's commentary are atrocious.
Heisman mode sounds boring. All I want to do is run a dynasty. And, when that dynasty becomes too good, leave for another team and work them up to a dynasty.
I'll be fine with the game if I can hop from team to team like a football Larry Brown.
I was thinking about picking it up at midnight but I realize that I'll be up until 5 playing it and work will be hell tomorrow. So for my own sake I will bolt out of work and just play it nonstop tomorrow.
In dynasty are neutral site games gonna be honored instead of it being a home game for one team and a road game for the other ?
They don't have neutral sites but at least for me, Michigan is the home team vs Alabama.
I'm going to go out and pick it up, but there's no way I'm paying for it.
I am on my way to walmart to get it for ps3. As I do every year, I took the next two days off of work. Can't wait to go Denarted online. Looking to join a online dynasty. PS3 gamer tag: Ih8ohiost8
I bought the early access season ticket, I like it so far. I played against my son who was Michigan twice while I was ND and Illinois.... Desmond Morgan had 5 ints in those 2 games. Michigan's defense is really good. Running the ball is a bit easier and play action is better. More interceptions in this version I've noticed though.
Every year in school my buddy and I would call in sick to our shitty summer jobs the day NCAA was released. We would pick up a case (or two) of nasty Icehouse beer and play dynasty mode until our eyes bled and all the beer dissapeared.
One time I beat him on a last second hail-mary and he ran into the hallway in Markley and kicked the heating vent. I went back a few years ago and that dent is still there. That dent is my legacy.
I was playing with my friend and when he beat me on a last second hail mary I chucked his controller out his door and broke it. He keeps it around as a keepsake
I got quite a verbal lashing after pulling off this play online vs a guy playing as Bama in NCAA '11. Tate passed it to Shaw, who lateralled to Molk, who lateralled to Omameh, who took it 77 yards to the house as the clock expired for the win.
That's pretty good. I can definitely see someone rage-quiting after that. The fact that it was a painfully slow lineman only made things better.
Anyone have roster names yet?
For PS3, GAMINGTAILGATE usually has the best rosters. I always upload my version using his as a template because I tweak Michigan to be as authentic as possible in terms of ratings, equip, hometowns etc.
Always a fun time when the roster is released.
Devotee, do you write down a list of changes or just make them one by one?
I usually edit a popular roster file for the 360 to make all of the big ten powers super realistic, right down to the arm pads and even a few re-ratings (down and up).
I figured I'd ask just in case we could swap notes so the rival team is fine tuned.
...but I'm just psyched that Breaking Bad Season 4 is coming to Netflix later this month.
Just so people know, the Meijer on Ann Arbor-Saline is now out of the game for ps3. Hope this saves somebody a trip.
So how is it for Xbox? I will be picking it up after work.
I will be picking it up during my lunch hopefully. Then going home and working on the roster and stuff before really starting it.
I reserved it a few weeks ago. I'll pick it up tomorrow after work then beat the living crap out of my brother online all weekend. I'm hoping to find a decent M team download to last until good ones drop in a week or so.
Is it just me or are all the games for 360 wonky? I remember playing NCAA '06 on my Xbox and they never had any issues with gameplay or graphics like this.
Also, there is one spot in a dynasty of all teams superconference. Send me a request if interested. Michigan Phan27
Going through the Heisman mode and Denard takes off running probably 60-70% of the passing plays. Even when I'm wide open, he'll run. Something has to be broken.
does denard have the dreads in this one lol?
Love the game so far, but no dreads for denard. and worse yet, as far as I can see, there isn't a way to change the hair style of the players. Last year the dreadlocks were under one of the "face types", but none of them seem to have them this year.
